1. Why are they not chaining themselves to supporters of Hamas?
Danny   (06.25.11)
2. The Shalit's are wrong!
Z Lando ,   Israel   (06.25.11)
They should be chaining themselves to the UN and Red Cross headquarters. But like the leftists, they think it is Israel's fault. I cannot agree to this
3. This is what Hamas whant.
ROSENVALD ,   BRASIL   (06.25.11)
This is what Hamas whant.
4. Shalit
Eli   (06.25.11)
It is Israel's fault. Israel prided itself on never leaving a man behind. It's shameful to leave him to rot for 5 years. A ceasefire should never have been accepted until the safe return of Gilad. Very shameful to leave him rotting like that.
5. Does his life worth more than any other?
Mark ,   J-lem   (06.25.11)
The correct answer - no one have the right to value anyone's life. Except perhaps judges. In any case, to put people of this country at risk? Is that what they hail for? I understand their grief, but don't understand their lack of thinking. If I am missing something - someone enlighten me.
6. Gilad
mark ,   Israel   (06.25.11)
Whatever the depths of their pain the Shalits are not above the law
7. Shallits should seek Knesset Seats.
Roland Seener ,   London England   (06.25.11)
8. The wrong demand
Joe ,   Israel   (06.26.11)
If they really believed the government should do everything it can, they would demand Israel cut off electricity and water to Gaza and bomb them until Gilad is released.
9. Shalit
michael Pielet ,   boca raton, Israel   (06.26.11)
Let the shalit's chain themselves to Gaza.
10. I respect YOU, Shalit family. your pain TOO big and MUST
nice ,   tlv   (06.26.11)
be ENDED NOW!
11. Sad to say..
Simon ,   Malha   (06.26.11)
Our Government DO NOT CARE ABOUT SHALIT. The sooner we wake up to this reality.. the better because we can protest for a real democracy -- with real leaders who care about the people and not just murdering Palestinians and causing as much trouble as possible in the Middle East - if these guys cared, Shalit would be a free man!
12. to #2
Gail ,   Israel   (06.26.11)
As a parent I understand the Shalit's If any of my kids go missing for 10 minutes I worry and think the worst, the Shalits have been suffering for 5 years. They as parents, have to put their child first and if it were me G-D forbid I would do anything to get him back even give my life ...it is just nature to protect your young. I do not believe that letting criminals go in exchange for Gilad is the best option but if there is no other way then we should take the risk. We have done it before (released prisoners) for other reasons why is Gilad less important? Just as Gilad took a risk and enlisted we should take a risk and get him back. We owe it to our children. In fact with the pain the Shalit's are going through I think they have been handling the whole situation bravely with a lot of strength, they get more desperate as all political avenues prove unsuccessful and as time goes by so they turn to their country and government crying for help. If anyone can't understand this then maybe they do not have children, but I am sure they have parents. Wouldn't you like to know that your Mom and Dad would do anything to make sure you are safe and if you went missing wouldn't you like to know that they will never stop looking for you. Even more so if you fell into enemy hands right?
13. The selfishness of this family is beyound the pale
Al   (06.26.11)
They would want other Jews in Israel to risk being murdered by the very murders they wish Israel to release inorder to secure the release of their son. I have a simple question or two. 1) Is their son alive? 2) What makes this family so bloody special...Over 25K Jews have lost their lives in the defense of Israel. You dont see their families making total asses of themselves. They suffer along in silence day in day out till their own end. The media panders to the Shalit family for, as Terry from Eilat wrote so well. "This family is nothing more than a bunch of useful idiots. They are being played." At the same time, I may add they have lost the support of the majority of Jews in Israel..
14. To hearless Al, Danny, ZLando, Mark and other nudniks
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (06.26.11)
The Shalits are doing the right thing to keep the public aware and the government uncomfortable. If you don't like it, too bad. You whining fools make me puke. The government has done buggerall to help Shalit. The best Bibi can do after 5 years is cut off university studies to Hamas prisoners? You people are a joke. You have a pathetically poor sense of right and wrong, and absolutely zero Jewish values that demand that we redeem our prisoners. Instead of whining and moaning about the Shalits, you should be screaming and shouting at the government to impose the same conditions on all Pal prisoners that Hamas imposes on Shalit. You should be demanding that the Philadelphi corrider be pounding by artillery 24/7 to collapse the tunnels. You should be demanding targeted hits on all Hamas leaders. Instead, you whine and complain about the Shalits tyring to get Gilad released? Shame on you, you wimps.
15. To all the above talkbackers :
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (06.26.11)
If it was the PM's son being held hostage, probably all Hamas prisoners would be out of prison within a very short period. Bibi has his priorities, and it seems Gilad Shalit is not one of them.
16. For shame Bibi - return Gilad even if it is
miri ,   israel   (06.26.11)
an unfair deal. We've been there before - why the restraint now ? No.14 - I couldn't agree more. you mean heartless, of course.
17. to Al #13 in Canada
miri ,   israel   (06.26.11)
And who made you judge of this situation - the majority I believe support the Shalit family. You will not suffer the release of the Arabs.
18. #13 Al
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (06.26.11)
Let's say that you were taken instead of Gilad Shalit, what you want your family to do :? Do their utmost to get you released or just sit by complacently, hoping that if your survive you'll be retruned at some distant future date :
