1. FFS!
Adam ,   Golan Heights Israel   (06.26.11)
How many times do we incessantly have to hear and read this? Just shut up and do what you feel you must do. As usual, you will fall flat on your face, and no one will give a damn...specially not us!
2. TO HE77 WITH ABBAS! BUILD ISRAEL BUILD!
stude ham   (06.26.11)
this abbas never once bargained in good faith. if he wants recognition of a state by some of the UN idiot members... then israel can plasyer any and all of the territories it wants with settlements. oh yah... no pali state will ever exist! BUILD ISRAEL BUILD!
3. Going to the UN will kill any hope of future talks
zionist forever   (06.26.11)
If the General Assembly give the arabs what they want when the time comes that they must talk to Israel if they want a viable state it will mean concessions. Any arab leader who makes concessions once they have their virtual state in the UN will be considered a traitor and so talks will be impossible. Obama should tell the General Assembly and Abbas straight out that for any palestinian state to become official it must be voted on by the Security Council where the US has a veto and he must tell them he will use the veto if the arabs try to go it alone. The best bit there would be when Obama is forced to use the veto ( which he would be forced to do now he is in an election campaign ) all those years he has spent doing muslim outreach work will come tumbling down around him. Poor Obama seen as a traitor by muslims rather than as a friend. Bibi should tell Abbas what he won't get if he goes the UN route. No transport corridor connecting their state without which trade will be impossible and this state will be stillborn. Israel will not share water. Israel will not Give up Jerusalem or close settlements. Israel will revoke the work permits of thousands of arabs currently relying on Israel for jobs. We need to let Abbas understand he is not the only one who can play hardball.

john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (06.27.11)
I agree with your comments but my heart tell me that Bibi will not be tough enough to do what you suggest.
5. fantasy land
Bad assed Jew. ,   United States   (06.27.11)
the re will never be a pal state. They are incapable of self rule. Uniting both Hamas and Fatah assure this terrorist organization will still be treated like hookers in church.
6. I wonder what they actually said
Danny   (06.27.11)
Because the UNGA "recognised" "Palestine" in 1988. Do they mean upgrading their status in the UN? I notice the quotes talk about UN membership.
7. Could a secular pro Israel answer this question?
Pete   (06.27.11)
Why does Israel belong to Jews?
8. #7- Pete
William ,   USA   (06.27.11)
Why does Israel belong to the Jews!? Why does the USA belong to the American people? Why does England belong to the Saxons? Why does Germany belong to the Tutons? Simple answer: Vini, vidi, vicci. If this sounds a bit harsh, consider that the UN Partition Plan of 1947 authorized Jewish ownership of only the lands between Judea, Samaria and Gaza, and the Arab refusal to accept this- and subsequent attempt to take control of the entire area by force- PROMPTED aforementioned conquest. What right do they have to it now? Any right to receive "their" lands by the grace of the International Community was waived 64 years ago...
9. The last gasp for fictional Palestine dinosaur.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.27.11)
"Peace talks" with the P.A. are far more dangerous than another fictional statehood declaration. This is the last gasp for the fictional Palestine dinosaur. During the last fictional Palestine declaration, there were less than 300,000 Jews in Judea/Samaria. Yet it was an absolute fiasco. Today there are 700,000 Jews in Judea and Samaria, including Jerusalem. It is a powerful irreversibly successful community. "Palestinians" are desperate and running around like proverbial chickens without heads. It will be very easy for Israel to assure the final bid for fictional Palestine statehood blows sky high. Let the beast have it's last gasp. When it fails spectacularly, fictional Palestine is finished. Nobody will ever take it seriously again.
10. why are going up easy on this man? they keep screwing
ralph   (06.27.11)
screwing up and we pick them up off the floor. take off the gloves.
11. To "Zionist Forever"
Luiz Felipe Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (06.27.11)
Dear brother, as a true Christian, real friend of Israel in distant South America, I agree with you about defending your State against "neighbors" that want to destroy her. But I think it is impossible to avoid the creation of a Palestine's State. Beyond it, that wrong position is much harmful to Israelian international image. The best solution resides on a peace's treaty, under US, EU, and UNO's support and vigilance; through basic points, like redrawed borders, a demilitarized Arab Palestine, a mutual amnesty with change of prisoners (Shalit at first), and, of course, an undivided Israelian Jerusalem, but with a special "status" for Arab dwellers. You must give a last chance to a honoured peace. Your suffered people, chosen by God Almighty, deserves it. The Arab people, except their bad leaders, deserves it too.
12. Past time!
David ,   America   (06.27.11)
It is way past time for Israeli unilateral action. Annex all "so called" West Bank now!!! Take control of the Temple Mount Now. Send palis packing to Jordan now! Cut off all aid to Gaza now! Demand release of Giled Shalat Now, or bomb Gaza into the stone age now! Tell the UN and the Arab league and EU to go to hell now! Turn Iran into a waste land now!
13. why do plastilina wants israel?
to pete the rabbit ,   WORLD   (06.27.11)
just due to free hateress- rooted since early stage-Israel- as its now known- secularly- won the battles- constructed- built- planted- and worked for like- we wererecognized as a country- as per nos "secularly" well there are more reasons to it- and FIRS|T. But anyways arabs- destroyed- and inteneded many times to destroy- kill- gang of criminals- and liars- abandoned "their"lands under instructions of many other arabs and promises=they lost and lets see which of their big and powerful countries helped them out or really took them- no need to explain to you in detail since your question saint pete is very bad intended- how many countries shoul give their land out due to foreigners pressure or terrorism?
14. #7 Pete - first, EXPLAIN why not
CK Tan ,   Singapore, Singapore   (06.27.11)
Share what YOU know about the history of modern Israel (just the relevant main points will do) and, if it is what YOU believe, why Israel does NOT belong to Jews.
15. Secular non-israeli.
Aaron ,   Simgapore   (06.27.11)
Why not? For a people that a third of the world hates and can't wait to see them 'disappear, shouldn't we see thay they are able to take care of and protect themselves?
16. "The Arabs have never missed an opportunity to miss...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (06.27.11)
...an opportunity" for peace, said the late Mr. Abba Eban. And, the Arabs don't cease to prove his astute observation right, around every corner that we pass. When, oh, when will they ever learn...??
17. Will be like Kosovo - ask the Serbs - The UN is Foul
Andrew ,   Miami,FL   (06.27.11)
18. response to #7
avramele ,   secular leftist Jew   (06.27.11)
1. We Jews like all people have a right to political and cultural self definition and self determination 2. The land of Israel and us have a relationship going back thousands of years. We were foreigners and strangers in every other land and driven from many whether ruled by pharoahs, Christians or Moslems. Consider for a moment that as late as the last century Jews were a near dominant ethnic prescence in cities like Bagdad, Salonika and Warsaw. (PS. it didn't work out too well for us in the end) 3. Pre-state Jewish immigration to the land of Israel in the 19th and 20th century was no less moral or illegal than moslem immigration to Europe and America over the past 100 years - we came not to displace but to share. Actually like so many immigrants and refugees we came just to live with a degree a safety and security. 4. Today there are 5.7 million Jews in the land -- many the descendents of Jews driven from Arab lands. The Jews are not leaving Israel and the Arabs (and Poles and Greeks and Ukranianians et al) aren't asking us back. 5. The suffering of Palestinian Arabs is real and they too have their own narrative and ties to the land between the river and the sea. We are fated to share the land with two states for two people. 6. To directly answer your question: No land ever belongs to anyone. Bibles, treaties and mandates and declarations are just paper that some believe in and some reject... but every people (as an expression of their collective identity) belongs somewhere. As a people Jews belong in Israel, God willing, Yirtzeh hashem, Inshallah it will always be that way.
19. Sure, why not?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.27.11)
Actually, the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of a U.N. declaration of an ersatz "Palestinian" state. There are a few advantages. Israel can stop providing electricity, fresh water, humanitarian aid .... Israel does not have to treat their sick .... Gaza would be the world's problem and, frankly, the world is a little cash-poor right now. So many of the member states of the European Union are already in bankruptcy; so many are facing imminent bankruptcy -- the European Union has to worry about its member states before turning its gaze to "Palestine." Egypt will drop "Palestine" like a hot potato -- they have financial woes as well. The United Nations -- well, following the declaration of a state of "Palestine" will lose its funding from the countries who oppose such a declaration -- which happen to be the wealthiest nations in the world. They won't be able to do much for "Palestine," and since there will no longer be "Palestinian refugees," they will have to turn their attention -- and whatever money they have left -- to real problems in Africa, Central and South America, et cetera. But the best part about an ersatz "Palestinian" state in Gaza? Sooner or later, one of the groups there will fire a missile into Israel. See, when a terrorist group does it, it's an act of terror. If a state does it, it's a declaration of war. And Israel WILL respond appropriately (the way any nation would if war were declared against it by a hostile nation).
20. To: No. 7
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.27.11)
Because it is ours. Israel has a dual identity. There is Israel, the land, and Israel, the people. "Jacob, thy name is Israel." Jacob was the father of the twelve tribes. Israel the land; Israel the people. I trust I have addressed your question.
21. No Balastine in Yudah-Shomron !
Gabe Yakmore ,   Canada   (06.27.11)
22. #7 Who said it belonged to anyone else
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (06.27.11)
besides the Arabs, who can't prove their claim to the land Nary a one attempting to answer a series of questions I posed, that if answered would have proven their entitlement Pete, you left out the country you're writing from, any reason, other than to concealwhere you're coming from?
23. To #7
David M.   (06.27.11)
What a stupid question. Why does France belongs to the French and Norway to Norwegians. Israel belongs to Jews because it's their country where they started their nation. Not all other nations have a Bible in addition to prove it. The Saudi Arabia belongs to Arabs. The rest having been conquered is questionable. Since there was never a Palestinian Arab state it's a pure fiction and it wil stay that way.
24. #7...It legally Israel per 1922 San Remo
BJL ,   usa   (06.27.11)
Conference...Israel, west of the Jordan river is Jewish. East of the Jordan.."palestine" It was ratified by the League of Nations. Israel ALSO has rights by rule of spoils of war. Israel has been attacked 3 times by the arabs. The ground it gained in '67 is that promised in 1922. Israel is Jewish.
25. Congress will cut off the $$$$
Rachelr ,   US   (06.27.11)
26. This move will abrogate Oslo
Roscio ,   Rome, Italy   (06.27.11)
This would be the PA unilaterally scrapping the Oslo Accords. Fine. That means that Israel can annex the West Bank and stop the nonsense. If the UN censures Israel for the umpteenth time, then it is high time for Israel and all free nations to pull out of the Useless Nothings and throw that cesspool out of New York City and the US.
27. What if ...
Pixelated Dwarf ,   USA   (06.27.11)
Will this be like other resolutions of the UN - Like 181 where if both sides don't agree it doesn't happen? The UN can say "yes" you fictional people can have a state that never existed in a land that you never had and you have the right to it? Amazing.
28. Annex the West Bank, Gaza, Golan
SBenard ,   Bountiful, USA   (06.27.11)
The Knesset should annex the West Bank, Gaza, and the Golan Heights into Israel the day the Arabs go to the UN. Send the message that this attempt will backfire. If the Arabs continue to pressure Israel, they should usher them to the border and send them packing -- never to return.
29. #4 john, your heart may be lying to you.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (06.27.11)
You may be selling Bibi rather short. After all it wasn't long ago he sat in the White House and lectured the sitting American President in front of the cameras as if he were a small schoolchild, getting his first lesson in realpolitik, albeit, you don't have to be so tough to do that with Obama.
30. #11 Luiz Felipe
solomon ,   bklyn   (06.27.11)
Dear brother (I trust your sentiments and am not mocking you); The conditions you note are those the arabs absolutely reject, with no 'compromise' ever offered. Whenever an agreement was close, they got scared and resorted to violence (Arafat and the intifada after Camp David, Abbas and the UN after discussions [per Wikileaks]). Also, Israel must rely on itself. The UN, EU has proven totally incapable: Hezbollah is rearmed, UNIFIL in Lebanon is impotent, Hamas is arming, fires rockets, and is holding an Israeli soldier sans Red Cross visits, and no one cares. In addition, the arabs do not accept even the concept of a Jewish state, want to destroy it, and have declared that any agreement will not be the end of their demands. This would be an ‘agreement’?! Your intentions are good but the facts negate them.
