1. Much simpler.
Jules   (06.27.11)
The human world lives (more or less) according to Charles Darwin and his "natural selection theory". How is it related to Israel ? The problem - in the eyes of the majority of countries and people in the world - is that Israel has managed to build a whole new civilization in the desert, in just few decades. Which - like it or not - underscores the Israelis' moral and technological superiority. VAST SUPERIORITY. This is absolutely unforgivable in the eyes of Israel's neighbors, the majority of whom live in the 7th century. To summarize: Israel will not be allowed by the neighbors to live in peace. Either one part wins, or another. Live is a cruel thing.
2. legitimacy
yigal ,   north   (06.27.11)
When oil will flow from every cavity In the ground, rain will come down year round and gold, Titanium and Uranium will be discovered In the Negev, then, only then will Israel might gain legitimacy.
3. "Palestinians" want Israel gone. Period.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.27.11)
The author is absolutely correct. It's not about "settlements". It's not about standards of living. It's not about equality. "Palestinians" want Israel gone. Period. This is not a matter of opinion. Their covenants all say so: Fatah's, Hamas', PLOs'. Their school texts say so, Their naming of public square after Jew killers. "Palestinians" don't even try to hide their desire to mass murder Jews and steal our Homeland. So how can any sane person doubt their motive?
4. Why do people always distort the truth?
Arik Silverman ,   Milwaukee USA   (06.27.11)
The main objection to the security "fence," as clearly stated by the International Court was that it has been build ON PALESTINIAN LAND. There are few who don't want Israel to have a security fence: the objection is to where it is built. Build Israeli's security fence on Israeli ground.
5. In response
Israeli 2   (06.27.11)
"I finally got it when a Canadian guy named Brandon, who I correspond with on Facebook, told me that this year Israel razed 12 mosques in Tel Aviv and built Zionist business towers on their ruins." No one but an Jew hater would write something like that. He doesn't believe it either. You got it now? My suggestion: Ignore them and do what we must to defend our country. We can't stop vermin to enter our house by holding a sign that says: "Do not enter." Use an extinguisher.
6. It's called antisemitism, it's got other names& it's FOREVER
tom ,   tel aviv   (06.27.11)
7. The "Hasbarah-committee" is a myth
Susya Bar Dror ,   IL   (06.27.11)
they never ever replied to repeated requests for information and had no interest in a co-operation with specific languages in specific media. Supporting them is supporting horsemanure.
8. Brilliant analysis and correct
Bravo!   (06.27.11)
9. The Sha and proof of Jewishness
Dr. David Usher ,   Vancouver, Canada   (06.27.11)
I performed research in Israel in 1970-71, in the Faculty of Medicine, Hebrew University/ Hadassah Hospital. My paternal grandfather, Max Usher, arrived in Canada in 1880 and was engaged in the building of the Shaar Hashomayim. He and all of my ancestors have immaculate credentials. over two centuries. Yet, more and more people, including IDF soldiers, are being required to prove their Jewishness due to the ministartions of the Chief Rabbi. This is sorrowful, and is no help for the emotions of diaspora Jews.

solomon ,   bklyn   (06.27.11)
I am sorry to say, but it is you who are distorting the truth. The "fence" is another excellent example of the truth of the article. If the fence were moved to within the "Green Line" (an armistice line drawn in green pencil on a map) and not in "Palestine" (a myth of it's own making), people would still object to the fence. [Many of the unspoken objections would be that it is doing it's job: Preventing terrorists from attacking Jews.]
11. #4 "On Palestinian land"
Tahl   (06.27.11)
What is "Palestinian land"? You mean, everything inside the "green line"? Well then, let's get this fact straight: the "green line" was merely the former border between Israel and Jordan, until the Six-Days-War. And it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the so-called "Palestinian" people. Can you explain to me, by which law exactly, and by which justification, is everything inside the "green line" - considered "Palestinian land"?
12. The author is correct as far as he goes.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (06.27.11)
But, he needs to take his argument further. While it's certainly true that what we do or do not do has no influence on efforts to deligitimize a sovereign Jewish state, while it is true that no amount of concessions will have any effect, & it is most certainly true that even the establishment of an independant Palestinian state will only increase efforts to deligitimize Israel, the author needs to go one step further. Israel needs to be very aggressive on all fronts. In the short term, we will be condemned. But, in the long term, attitudes towards us will change favourably. No one likes a loser & Israel has become a loser. Who respects the weakling being bullied, then whinning about how unjust this is? No one listens to our detailed arguments, our explanations, our reasonable defenses. The world likes slogans & lies, the bigger the lie the better. A simple big lie repeated over & over is effective propaganda. It becomes ''truth'' ..... We always sound like apologetic morons, responding to every stupid false accusation - this just makes us look guilty. We need to be ruthless & unapologetic. No explanations. No compromises, no being ''reasonable'', no ''fairness'' - when we start acting like winners & not losers, we will gain respect & support.
13. To Number 9
Jerome ,   Tel Aviv   (06.27.11)
What the hell does this have to do with the article?
14. Why do ssecular believe Israel legitimately belongs to Jews?
Pete   (06.27.11)
15. it wouldnt work if it werent for the receptive public
oferdesade ,   israel   (06.27.11)
arab deligimization only works because the church still breeds the infrastructure for this. forget evangalists - they're the crazies outside the consensus. it's the protestants and most catholics (inspite of the words of the popes and vatican 2) that still promote israel's delegitimization. in ireland, scotland, britain - these are just the tip of the iceberg. throughout the mediterranean, where the orthodox church still reigns and denies any connection to vat-2, where the priests prefer 2 b palestinians for the good of their pockets, where they still kowtow to the eladers in libya and syria and pakistan (and egypt where the priests were the last to jump on the revolutionary bandwagon) - instead of confronting the murder of their parishoners, they're still saying "it's the jews"!!
16. smart article
(06.27.11)
17. brandon
phil ,   the free world   (06.27.11)
does no-one else think that Brandon's "words" sound a little bit made-up? Perhaps Magner was corresponding with Omer Gershon?
18. Ghetto mentality
berlonski ,   berlin   (06.27.11)
If Israel moves further into this Ghetto mentality that the article promotes, she will really get lost in de-legitimization. No country in the world on the long run can survive just by itself. So if Israel goes on to repeat again and again this mantra "In the end anyway everybody is against us" - the self fulfilling prophexy will come true: Israel against the rest of the world. Obviously the author already surrendered to this frightening view of the world. As so many op-eds here at Ynet ... If Ben Gurion and his generation only had this kind of problems ... their obstacles were much higher - and they built a state!
19. why did the arabs established PLO in 1963??
laura ,   austalia   (06.27.11)
there wasn't 1967 lines and occupasion back then. but that hate did existe before 1967. how do you explain that? their "resistance by force" before and i believe that also after1967 is aimed only to destroy the state of israel. NOTHING ELSE BUT THAT.
20. First of all: there is NO "settlement enter-
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (06.27.11)
prise" in Judea and Samaria, the use of this term is ALREADY fuel for the de-legitimization clowns...Judea and Samaria are the HEART of Israel >>>this cannot be the point of any discussion ! Israel IS perfectly legal and it is real and it's enemies HATE this undeniable fact ! The whole de-legitimization campain is part of a political propaganda campaign aimed at the very destruction of the Jewish state. Israels Muzzie enemies and it's Western supporters will use every concession made by Israel to further undermine it's stability. The shared dream of Israels mortal enemies is the establishment of a terrorist entity like Gaza in the midst of Israels ancient heartland...if such a madness would ever happen, they would just press ahead even more with FULL steam, to de-legitimatize the Jewish state and to finish it up, once and for all... Israel must stand strong and unmoved by the tide of EMPTY words vomitted by it's evil enemies...they cannot be appeased, but they can be defeated ! >>>NOT ONE SQUARE INCH !<<<
21. #12. Israel must press our legal claim to Judea/Samaria.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.27.11)
#12 Terry. You hit the nail on the head. Israel can't expect respect from others when we don't act with self respect. It is human nature to respect and like the strong and despise the weak and appeasing. When Israel acted with strength and self respect, before Oslo, Israel was widely respected by friends and foes alike. Israel's stature plummeted when we began to appease and retreat. Creating a new terror state in our heartland would powerfully increase our enemies' delegtimization campaign against us. If Israel can't even claim our 3,500 year old heartland, what right do we have to relatively new Tel Aviv? Israel must press our incontrovertible legal claim to Judea and Samaria. We have the proof. Let us serve it on the U.N., E.U., all international bodies, world governments and media. We are the rightful owners.
22. Only as an Israeli state can Israel be legitimate.
Jacob   (06.27.11)
For as long as "a state for all its citizens" remains a dirty phrase in Israel, its legitimacy will continue to be questions. For Israel to be accepted as legitimate, it must become an Israeli state, not just a Jewish one, and accept that its non-Jewish inhabitants have just as much right to it as its Jewish ones do.
23. Jacob #22 the voice of ignorance
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.27.11)
All Israelis already have equal rights. Care to name a single right that the non-Jewish citizens don't have? I bet you won't even try because it doesn't exist. The non-Jewish minority do have the same responsibilities, but they do in fact enjoy the same rights.
24. #27. Israel doesn't depend on her enemies' approval.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.27.11)
#27. The world has many Christian, Moslem, and Hindu states. Israel is the Jewish Homeland. Israel is not "a state for all it's citizens". Anyone who wants to live in such a state has plenty of choices. Israel won't be defined by her enemies. Israel doesn't depend on her enemies' approval for her legitimacy.
25. #23 one right denied non-jewish israelis
phil ,   the free world   (06.27.11)
I'm just gonna post the one, cos I don't want to strain you too much.. Jewish Israelis who lost property in East Jerusalem and the West Bank during the 1948 war are allowed reclaim it. Non-Jewish Israelis do not have this right
26. #25 Phil the heavy lifter of political diatribes
Pantherjet   (06.27.11)
Phil old bot, read my lips: when your pals the so-called "new Palestinians" and their Arab allies, launched a war in 48, and again in 56, and again in 67, 73 etc, etc, they lost. Sorry pal. aggressor-loosers don't get to dictate peace terms.
27. #26 ????????
phil ,   the free world   (06.28.11)
My post was a response to gee's usual "care to prove...." comments His/her problem is that when someone does provide an example, Gee will either engage in personal abuse or change the subject Something you seem to be adept at also which doesn't lend to constructive dialogue
28. Palestinian land"
Niss ,   uk   (06.28.11)
When you tell lies all the time the people who say it and the people who hear it will belive it themseleves
29. "de-legitimization"
tiki ,   belgium   (06.28.11)
The 'more Israel mentions the 'word, the more popular it becomes in the Bashing Circles. As the writer correctly observes, nothing will work, nothing will satisfy the beast, 'only the total demise of Israel & the Jews. The whole thing boiles down to genetic Anti Semetism & burning jealousy towards a booming Israel! So, let them choke on their hate, let them protest, twitter, twatter or whatever, continue to build, invent and grow. That's real & reality and the only & best answer to the de-legitimization twatterers.
