31. World media
John ,   Herzliya, Israel   (06.27.11)
And the report on that "incident" is all over world media, especially BBC is covering it every few moments.
32. Either hand over the guilty, or be complicit.
Adam ,   Golan Heights Israel   (06.27.11)
Appeasement of those (and their int'l supporters) who wish to destroy Israel and murder Jews, is a dead end path, and will only encourage the animals to new extremes of barbarity. Seal off Issawiya, until every last one of the guilty savages is turned in. Then fine each one of them NIS10K as compensation to the victim, and deport them all to Gaza. The world as usual will condemn Israel (while not uttering a peep about the lynching), but we are damned if we do, and damned if we don't anyway, so nothing to lose. Give the death-cult worshipers a taste of their own medicine.
33. Let's Give them a ...
Ehud Livni ,   Tel Aviv   (06.27.11)
Hey, I think these Arabs deserve a reward for their kind and humane behavior! What could we possibly give them? Why don't we give them a STATE of their own?
34. Foreign media is responsible
DavidM ,   USA   (06.27.11)
It is unfortunately no surprise that a mob would think it proper to lynch a young man because he is Jewish. The foreign media has been instigating this behavior for years. Newspapers such as the Guardian and Aftonblodet routinely portray Jews in the most negative terms. Aftonblodet even accused Jews of stealing human organs. It's no surprise that the mob would feel entitled to commit murder after reading this material.
35. Food for thought
GrandestGrandma ,   Brooklyn, NY   (06.27.11)
It's important to understand what you mean by peace activist. But let’s get to the point yes there are the trees that produce good fruits these are nurtured and pruned so they blossom correctly and then you have the trees that are abused and neglected with hate they give the worst blossom but the good tree can have some rotten apples and the bad tree can produce some good ones but what are the majority??? You cannot teach children to hate and kill and expect them to grow to be healthy civilized grownups yes you do have the children that are taught to be kind and righteous and turn out to be rotten grownups
36. #22 - Read the Goldstone Report for the answer?
Truth seeker ,   Toronto, Canada   (06.27.11)
The one that was retracted by its author? The one that is pure fantasy? This is the "explanation" for murderous barbarism?
37. thank goodness
IlanaB   (06.27.11)
thank goodness he got out alive and we did not have to see arabs hands dipped in Jewish blood. Thank goodness there are some normal people there-thank you, thank you-you are humans and heroes. How can kids and young adults be so violent towards another human being?
38. This is Israel's story
aparatchik ,   Scotland   (06.27.11)
Enjoy mutually beneficial coexistence with the small minority of Arabs (20%) who want to contribute to civilisation and the redemption of the land. Pay all the others to leave.
39. Israel still doesnt get it...
john ,   Kent , UK   (06.27.11)
After so many years, you Israelis still havent got to understand tha arab mentality..Look at their regimes, all is based by force. I've worked most of my life in the arab world, and saw that strength is the language spoken there. You Israelis try to speak European to a non-European society, your good will is wasted on them and is interpreted as a weakness. This mis-understanding you have is one of the main reason you'll never have peace with the arabs...you talk sense , they talk force and hate
40. Thanks to the Arab Family that a fellow human in need.
Sons Of Cyrus   (06.27.11)
41. It does NOT go both ways
David Sher ,   New York, USA   (06.27.11)
Yes, settlers have acted violently towards Palestinians, but punches and rough treatment are not the same thing as murder. The settlers are not lynch mobs, they are hooligans (not unlike British soccer fans).
42. Saved by the mukhtar's family? How come?
Itay ,   North Jerusalem   (06.27.11)
To those who don't understand, the Mukhtar and his family didn't stop the lynch and the murder of this man because they are humane or saints, but rather because they knew that if this man will be killed in their village, a lot of unwanted actions will happen, and the border police will storm and literally walk over everybody in this village, like they do oh so well. Issawiyeh is known as the hornets nest and I pity the guy who entered the place by mistake. Nevertheless he's really lucky.
43. Now those are real peace partners! piece of yor scalp!
Wizard America ,   USA   (06.27.11)
44. Let's give them more land!
Ehud B.   (06.27.11)
45. Sure Wish You Would Include Maps!
ML/NJ ,   NJ, USA   (06.27.11)
I've been to Mount Scopus, and I've been to Maaleh Adumim; but I have no idea where this "Issawiya" is. (Google was no help!) Those of us who are visitors with some familiarity with Jerusalem and Israel are always interested in relating these event to our own experiences.
46. Alabama
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (06.27.11)
Nothing has changed In the 1950s and 1960s, Black men knew that there were white towns they could not enter and the sheriff would do nothing. Now the racists live in Isawiya and Barak and Netanyahu are the sheriff.
47. #17 Saed, The Iranian Jew...
Avi ,   Israel   (06.27.11)
Haven't you resolved your identity crisis yet? If you were a Jew, its not necessary for us to learn that you are from that Micky Mouse state of Iran...
48. Two thought about this event
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (06.27.11)
Regardless how brutal the occupation is, it does not justify this barbaric behaviour by palestinians. Attachers should be brought to justice. Regadless what natanyahu tells congress. Jerusalem was never unified. Not sure why right wing jews still want this village to be part of Israel in a future peace deal.
49. #12 Vicky
EZ   (06.27.11)
Issawiya is part of Jerusalem. Its residents are free to travel anywhere in Israel. The people who perpetrated this were committing a violent hate crime. You are defending them. Is that really really your goal as a peace worker? PS there was no wall in 2002 when lots of hate crimes were committed. There was no Israel in 1921 when same things were occurring. PPS if you are working for peace, you're on the wrong side.
50. #12, Vicky
israeli ,   israel   (06.27.11)
"I have also known Palestinians to be violently attacked by extremist settlers." Why bring extremist settlers into the equation? Do you think this is a case of Palestinian extremism? And who is a settler in your book, and an extremist settler to boot? The Israeli in question took a wrong turn, does that warrant an attempt on his life? Does that justify the threat of attacking his rescuers? As for the separation, well, sorry to say, but we had to stop the daily deadly attacks on unarmed Israelis in buses, discos, cafes and so forth. Now regarding Issawiyeh, is this village separated? I thought it was part of the Jerusalem Municipality.

sophie ,   nl   (06.27.11)
Have you also read Goldstone's comments on his report or are you just going to igore them?
52. I want to convert to judaism, but there is no one to help me?even if we search the name of torah,
#47 avi,israel ,   Saed   (06.27.11)
In internet ,that is filtered and blocked.when i see the pics of israeli soldiers, towns, people, their face ,i will be seduced,my heart start to beating.everyone knows i am pro-jews.and i am not afraid, israel is in my heart.i am sure there was a connection between me and jews.there is many country, why jews?i am upset that israel doesn't support its son.i am sure my ancestors were from daniel in iran.
53. #8, yes it would be
courtney ,   usa   (06.27.11)
but he didnt say that nor does the article mention that... referencing the mob attacking him and paralleling that to a whole group of people is what you did yourself.
54. level the village!
oded   (06.27.11)
and expell all of the young and adults, with the exception of the saviors!
55. humane arabs
daze ,   US   (06.27.11)
Good to read, some arabs might be alright. Welcome to you-same benefits and protections as any Jew, but you don't get to vote in the Jewish State, you don't get to serve in the IDF, and you must do national service. Again, arabs like this-welcome
56. Mr Darwish:
Adam ,   Golan Heights Israel   (06.27.11)
I think you are a potential partner for peace, though past experience tells me "taqqiya". Please prove me wrong. Quote: "Darwish reiterated his disapproval of the event, but stressed that "our village is neglected and our residents don’t receive their basic rights. Our kids walk around in the streets and are only used to experiencing raids," he said. " The answer to this is to educate your kids. I suspect your own kids are educated, going by this story, but it is your job as the Mukhtar of the village, to change the outlook of your whole village. By your allowing these attitudes to grow and fester, you are dooming your community. Personally, i see no reason why your people from Issawiya should be allowed to enter the rest of Israel, after the past few events like this. Adain....please prove me wrong.
57. To: No. 8
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.27.11)
He was referring quite specifically to the group who attacked him.
58. To: No. 12
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.27.11)
Excuse me, but you are grossly exaggerating the actions of the settlers. If the Arabs would leave them alone, there would be no trouble. Moreover, it's a little hard to see the murderers of the five members of the Fogel family while they slept as human beings. Sorry.
59. #39 You got it exactly, John
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (06.27.11)
Leiberman has got it, Terry from Eilat has got it, Sarah B does and quite a few friends on these threads have too...as does a fair chunk of the Israeli population have got it. It's the leftie appeasers that would lead us to a similar fate if they had their way .... they don't get it
60. lynch survivor
steve ,   melbourne, australia   (06.28.11)
this is what almost happened to my wife and i as we innocently drove through the cemetery at mt of Olives 2 weeks ago. Rocks rained on our car from everywhere, even after breaking the glass. it was obvious these individuals wanted to do real personal injury.
