Please put up a talkback link on the article about the Knesset voting to stop the flotilla. Thanks!
2. Idiocy in the GPO
US_Exceptionalist   (06.27.11)
Whoever the "brain" was behind this threat should resign or be fired. I can't imagine how anyone with an IQ above a single digit could let that happen.
3. GOOD. WE APOLOGIZE TO EVERONE WHO GOT HURT!
isaac ,   israel   (06.27.11)
4. we're sorry israel is not syria where you don't have freedom
eli ,   jerusalem, israel   (06.27.11)
of press. the minister who said that was deeply wrong. we need to take with our troops reporters too. and make the reports more balanced. showing the other side... even if those on the gaza flotilla board hate us we don't have other choice.
5. where is the journalist to go up on the israeli navy board??
yael ,   UK\ ISRAEL   (06.27.11)
yes. i agree it was stupid to say things who contradicts the freedom of press and the laws of israel, but now when israel has no problem with press on gaza flotilla board where is the journalist to cover the other saide of the flotilla - THE ISRAELI NAVY SIDE? if the world press is really balance they should ask for that too...
6. We're such wimps.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (06.27.11)
Any so-called journalists aboard the BS flotilla should be arrested with everyone else. The flotilla is illegal, hence they are breaking the law by participating. And, you can bet your life these phoney journalists are as anti-Israel as the rest of the crowd.
7. Israel Never Misses a Chance to shoot itself in the foot
barry ,   chicago, usa   (06.27.11)
Continued pathetic hasbara from the Govt.
8. Of course you do realize ...
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.27.11)
... that the journalists planning to sail aboard the vessels in the flotilla do so at their own risk. And there IS a risk, because Israel has made it very plain that all attempts to breach the blockade will be stopped including, if necessary, by the use of deadly force. The notion of a flotilla at all is patently absurd, anyway. There is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza except that which has been created by Hamas. And the humanitarian crisis caused by the kidnapping of Gilad Shalit. If the flotilla organizers wish to engage in a humanitarian enterprise, I think the plight of Gilad Shalit would be a very good place to start.
9. You are sick?
Tor Gnon ,   Njamena, Chad   (06.27.11)
why all this turning around? Why must Israel be hesitating in terms of her own security and sovereignty?
10. Israel should have stuck to its guns
Arn ,   Yehud   (06.27.11)
Sucking up to international bodies that are fine tuned to the pro-Palestinian rubbish and Pallywood stagings exposes our back trouble - specifically that yellow streak that runs the length of it. When our knees tremble in the face of a wagging finger we can expect a well-placed and well-deserved boot.
11. bibi punks out ... disgusting
reality check ,   usa   (06.27.11)
Bibi had this right the first time. If the press wants to cover the floatilla let them rent a boat and follow it but boarding an actual ship seeking to break the blockade makes them aiders and abetters of criminals. Israel should publically state, and follow throught, that it will sink the actual boats and that any reporter who joins a floatilla boat will never be allowed back. And if we really want to accomplish something, lets tell the actual news agencies, the Times, The Post etc .. that if they particpate in the actual floatilla they will not be allowed to report from Israel for a year. We'll see who wants to get on a boat then.
12. It takes 2 to tango
Arn ,   Yehud, Israel   (06.27.11)
When did these supercilious journalists ever cover a legitimate news story legitimately.? The majority of them are not far removed from what passes for journalism in Egypt.
13. If flotilla is illegal, then every voluntary passender on it
leo ,   usa   (06.27.11)
is illegal regardless of how they intend to bill themselves. How Israel will chose to react to the crime being committed against its sovereignty is not for me to decide, but I sincerely hope you, guys, will be wise about dealing with this provocation. BTW, having journalists of your own is not such a bad idea. Get guys from FOX, they've got the biggest audience throughout the important part of World anyway.
14. stick to your guns
daze ,   US   (06.27.11)
Israel had a good threat going, stand by it. Any reporter on the flotilla is not going to report the truth anyways and you know it will be anti Israel. It would send a message to the media that if you want to lie, you can do your reporting from outside the Jewish State. Extend this threat to bbc, aljazeera, reuters etc
15. press and flotilla
steve ,   usa   (06.27.11)
So when Amira Hass of Ha'Aretz writes about participating in learning methods of passive resistance to slow down the IDF's job (and perhaps put soldiers in harm's way) is she acting as a journalist or participant?
16. Israel drops threat :That is a bad display
DT ,   TA Israel   (06.27.11)
of weakness by PM. What people fail to realise isf that Journalists seldom ever report facts- they only report what they wish to, biased accrding to their political views which,95% of the time are anti Israel.Any journalist on the flotilla is there to report "hate " against israel and nothing less
17. #3 I certainly don't apologise and don't
DT ,   TA Israel   (06.27.11)
apologise for me
18. agreed. it was a stupied treat.
to FPA ,   israeli guy   (06.27.11)
but the FPA should send journalists on the israeli navy boats too. we know the truth is on our side and we should take the media with us just like the terrorists do. give them the freedom and the respect they deserve to opperate and report from our side too. this is A WIN WIN SITUATION! who is with us???
19.  If they are not biased against Israel so they would do it:
noa ,   TLV   (06.27.11)
Even if the journalists on the flotilla hate Israel and biased (as Dana), They are journalists after all and we must respect the law. what the media who sent CNN & NYT reporters on the "free gaza" flotilla is to send journalists to report from the Israeli Navy side. To create a reliable reporting and more balanced. it would make a better story too... i'm sure of that!
20. #7 you are so right
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (06.27.11)
Israel should have acted exactly like the US. All boat passengers should be treated equally (whether they are "journalists" or not) but embed real journalists with the IDF to make sure they see everything they need to see. I mean if it is good for the US, it must be correct?
21. "a legitimate news story"
israeli ,   israel   (06.27.11)
"Journalists say they should be allowed to cover a legitimate news story." At least journalists admit that this is not a humanitarian mission, that they are bringing much needed supplies to a "distressed" Gaza. These people are bored and in total ignorance or neglect of other more pressing matters, such as the daily carnage in Syria, or the eight-year-old Afghan girl dispatched on a suicide mission a.s.o. No, these peace activists want to make a legitimate news story out of their Mediterranean pleasure and publicity cruise. What I don't understand is why Israel should indulge them.
22. threat against jounalists was idle
moron ,   galut   (06.27.11)
better not to threaten..israel loses credibility and for nothing!
23. Logic is the same as letting journalist stay with heron ring
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (06.27.11)
Logic is the same as letting journalist stay with heron ring and not prosecuting them when caught. Participation in an illegal event is not mitigated by a press pass. If any of them are considered encouraging or inciting then they need to have the full extent of the law thrown at them. It is one thing to report the news and another to create it.
24. embed reporters
daze ,   US   (06.27.11)
I thought that was a given:embed reporters on Israeli boats. Great idea, but it only works if ny times, bbc, aljazeera etc are willing to run their accounts of what really happened. As the english say "not too bloody likely"
25. Tough choice
Robert ,   NY USA   (06.27.11)
Are the journalists there for propaganda or journalism? I guess you have to go with free press for the actual journalists and why give the others more to use for propaganda. The truth will win in the long run, anyway. Their few weeks of propaganda will end with them being fools for the rest of their lives after.
26. Bibi what is with you more weakness?
John Cone ,   USA   (06.27.11)
Bibi what is with you more weakness? There are so many George soros and US government contractors responding to this article it is suspicious. Bibi get some guts and kick out these journalist and ban them from Israel maybe then they may start giving Israel some positive press for a change.
27. More Weakness and Appeasement
28. Flotilla sideshow
Bob K ,   las vegas nv   (06.27.11)
This whole 'flotilla' event is an anti-Israel sideshow somewhat similar to the annual media focus on Xmas in Bethlehem when we hear all the Palestinian complaints presented as if Palestinians are a totally innocent group of people while Israelis i.e. Jews, are almost totally bad. It is the contemporary form of the medieval 'passion plays' which were presented to Christians at Easter - the 'evil Jews' were seen killing Jesus. What followed was often violence against defenceless Jewish communities in Europe. Today Jews, as Israel, can defend themselves which greatly angers many in the West. especially the media.
29. Being banned for 10 years is NOT imprisonment. If they
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (06.27.11)
wanted to CHOOSE to be on an ILLEGAL boat, then they could CHOOSE to stay out of Israel for 10 years.
30. Good to be right - better to be wise!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (06.27.11)
Let those journalists sit outside the press conferences! The can get the news from Channel 1 TV.
