How strange that anonymous sources always appear to declare what the media wants! This Mr. Prosecutor should remember that Israel is supposed to be a democracy and that if it's true that Rav Lior should have declared to the police when cited, the prosecutor and everyone else in the Justice Ministry serve the people and not political interests. I really don't understand how they can try to sell us democracy when they act against the people's will.

There's a reason we have a system of checks and balances - not so that the Executive and Judicial forces can cooperate but so that they can check each other's power. If the prosecutor decides not to prosecute, then that's a good thing. It's a check on the other two branches saying, "this law is unjust." Same thing if the judge refuses to try, or the jury refuses to convict. In this way we maintain the legitimacy of the law. Laws that restrict the right of a Rabbi to preach Torah law are NOT legitimate and will NEVER be considered legitimate by the religious public. Simple as that.

I personally feel Shai Nitzan's fear, and sympathise with him and his family. At the same time this issue is serving a good purpose. It is giving Israelis a chance to share, in a minute way, what the Palestine people as a whole experience through out their lives - non stop. It also spells out, for Israelis who have eyes to see, that after the Palestinian problem, will come the real problem: Jews against Jews. At this time there will be no need to condemn the rest of the world as being anti-semite. Israel will be destroyed by Jews alone.

Shai Nitzan definitely has an agenda. This isn't the first rabbi he's tried to arrest or intimidate. He's also called in professors for what they said in class, not left-wing professors, to be sure. He runs an ''enhanced enforcement'' dept. which is specifically designed to investigate & harass right-wingers. So saying he has no agenda is not quite true.

These right wingers are nothing more than hooligans and their leaders should be arrested and indicted like Dov Lior. As Moshe Lador said "Nobody is above the law" and that includes rabbis and right wing hooligans.

There is almost no law in Israel, most courts are political kangeroo courts who folow the dictates of the ruling media clique. it is indeed hilarious how this pretentious elite applys the law only when it suits them. Lets pretend there are no Olmerts and other fine law abiding Liberals, who do not give a damn about any law and will break them for their own gain.
