King YouTube will be gone soon for opposing Palestinian self-determination. Good riddance,.
3. WOW, This is interesting!
US Jewish Realist ,   New Jersey, USA   (06.29.11)
Quite frankly, I don't understand Jordan's national interest rationale if it simply fears that the Palestinian borders are declared from Israel's "wall" east cuz Jordan simply appropriately defines her borders. This is both curious and fascinating, most likely beneficial 4all, please explain/analyze further ...
4. Jordan is Palestine

5. So much for Barak's tsunami
Rachel ,   US   (06.29.11)
If Bibi plays his cards right, he can pit the Palestinians against the Hashemites and turn Jordan into the Palestinian state.
6. The state does not want to be born!!!
(06.29.11)
Neither their own assumptions brothers want the Palestinian state. Tomorrow they will come out screaming that the fault of Israel. The Palestinian state is the only one for more than 63 years refuses to be born with a stubbornness worthy of a bull.
7. Jordan, Israel, West Bank, and Gaza is Palestine

8. Even Jordan knows that another UN bid is wrong
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (06.29.11)
A country of 70% Palestinians knows that another UN bid is not in the Palestinians best interest. Jordan is terrified of having to maintain an international border with Palestine without Israel's security involved.
9. Nothing new here
Tony ,   Palestine   (06.29.11)
We all know that King Abdullah cares more about his "dynasty" than the welfare and self determination of the Palestinian people. This is just part of a long shameful and treacherous track record. His wife Rania must be ashamed of him. I still find this hard to believe... Considering the Arab Spring and street.
10. King Hussein: "Palestine is Jordan"
David ,   USA   (06.29.11)
The king said this before. He also killed 10,000 Jordanians trying to revolt. He said: "Jordan is Palestine". Then, he let them loose. He doesnt want them. They are his citizens. He should be embracing them & not abandoning these . But he knows the evils that lurks with these so-called Pals that no one wants.
11. Democratic Jordan would be ruled by its 80% majority
Jake ,   USA   (06.29.11)
...of Palestinians. Hence, Jordan is Palestine. Enough of this non-sense that Israel is occupying Palestine. Jordan is occupying Palestine. Israel is occupying the West Bank which is disputed territory, not belonging to any state.

Then you haven't been paying attention to the politics of the region. There is an obvious mis-statement by the anonymous senior Joranian official - what he should have said is that it's not in the interest of the regime, not Jordan's top national interest. The country's interest & the regime's interest is not the same. Jordan's population is approx. 70% Palestinian. Traditionally, the Hashemite regime gains it's support from the Bedouin minority. Recently, the Bedouin have been protesting against the monarchy. They have two main issues. 1. They want to get rid of Palestinians. 2. They want an end to the peace treaty with Israel. The upper echelons of the Jordanian military are Bedouin. King Abdallah cannot stay in power without the military. To further complicate things, the Muslim Brotherhood is very powerful in Jordan. The King has excellent relations with Hamas because of this. A Palestinian state is not only a danger to Israel. It is even more of a danger to the Jordanian regime. Can anyone doubt that the Palestinian terror state will not only seek Israel's destruction by using the Israeli-Arabs but will also undermine the Jordanian monarchy. Jordan has always wanted the Palestinians to be Israel's problem. The fact of the matter is that Jordan is Palestine & Abdallah is a dictator supported by a Bedouin minority. Our interest is in turning Jordan into Palestine & annexing Judea & Samaria. We don't need King Abdallah & neither do the Palestinians.

SHOULD STOP THE FICTICIOUS LIES OF A STATEHOOD HOME;LAND. They instead should join their proper home in syria and egypt. You readers might say also jordan, but NO! jordan is factually ISRAEL until the brits in 1917 took most of israel to create a FAKE jordanian empire and fake king. FACTS JUST THE FACTS READ THEM AND WEEP OH YE ARABS. FACTS ARE ALWAYS OPPOSING YOUR REVISIONISM. THANKS, jewswithviews.com

18. "disengage from WB, maintain Palestinian identity"
William ,   Israel   (06.29.11)
One way to "maintain Palestinian identity" is by merging Ramallah with Jordan, where the bulk of the population IS "Palestinian". No wonder the King is worried. He remembers 1970 when the "Palestinians" tried to take over the little kingdom. History does repeat itself.
19. #2 - actually, it's the Brits that should be blamed
William ,   Israel   (06.29.11)
He gave your land of Jordan to the Hashemites, putting you in the situation you are in today. But don't discount your own involvement in your demise. You do a pretty good job of pissing off the world and shooting yourselves in the foot.
20. #7 - and Jews are the original "Palestinians"
William ,   Israel   (06.29.11)
and the current "Palestinians" (from 1964) are just mis-placed Arabs who couldn't go home after war.
21. #9 - The Arab Spring is going well, isn't it?
William ,   Israel   (06.29.11)
So far, so good. and since the "Palestinians" have tried to violently take over Jordan in the past, and have supported the Muslim Brotherhood in the State and sided with such violent despots in the Arab world, including Saddam Hussein.... why would the King's actions be surprising? He should throw their asses out of Jordan, the way Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, and others have already.
22. Let's settle this the pragmatic way
William ,   Israel   (06.29.11)
Jordan is Palestine - right? Right. Neither Amman or Jerusalem wants these violent parasitic cretins around - right? Right. Jordan is sparsely populated - right? Right. So, throw the "Palestinians" (aka disparate Arabs of years of illegal economic immigration) into East Jordan. The land gets settled, there's a human buffer between Jordan and Al-Qaeda in Iraq, and the pocket of violent fanatics is removed allowing Jordanians and Israelis to breathe easier.
23. For those interested in more details.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (06.29.11)
There is an excellent article at Israpundit titled, ''An Interview with an Arab Dissident.'' The interview is of a Jordanian exile (figures he'd be in exile, doesn't it?) named Mudar Zahran & he is interviewed by Yoel Meltzer. The original article was at American Thinker blog. I'm not quite as optimistic re: future good relations of a Palestinian Jordan with Israel but the interview is well worth reading. The treatment of Palestinians in Jordan is appalling to say the least - Israel's critics in the West seemingly are criticising the wrong country. But, of course, their motives are not pro-Palestinian but rather anti-Israel.
24. You mean, Jordan, Israel
Maria ,   USA   (06.29.11)
West Bank, and Gaza is JUDEA
25. Terry, we need you more often

Kol HaKavod. It is time for you to write a weekly column for YnetNews and JPost. Kadima Terry (and I do not mean Tzipi's) :):)!
26. To: No. 3
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.29.11)
Any move by the ersatz "Palestinians" to declare statehood will simply hasten Israel's annexation of Judea and Samaria -- its current status is non-sovereign territory -- and repatriate all West Bank Arabs to Jordan, country of their citizenship. Following that, you can kiss the monarchy good-bye.

Why and what is preventing Israel from annexation of Judea and Samaria. Is Bibi waiting on whom the next Pres of US is?
30. The Jordanian monarchy is living at the
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (06.30.11)
expense of Israel as it wants it to be solely responsible for cleaning up the "Palestinian" mess and the "king" always and successfully tries to stay out of the limelight of world opinion. The establishment of a "Palestinian" state on the territory of now "Jordan" would change the dynamics of Middle Eastern politics once and for all. The Arab greed to take over Judea and Samaria would suddenly become the EXCLUSIVE affair of only two neighbour states and it would fall from the worlds radar, just like the problem of Kashmir between Pakistan and India.
