1. Collapse of PA
Mark ben Josuf ,   USA   (07.01.11)
The Cutoff of funds and resultant collapse of the PA just puts Israel back to pre-Oslo days. Israel will run everything, from schools to the buses to hospitals to the traffic courts. Israel will be back in the business of writing textbooks for the Arabs in the territories, too. The only thing missing will be outside funding to pay for all of this. Settlers won't pay so the tax burden will fall on those who live inside pre67 Israel. No more pretenses.
2. AHHHH
Rabbi Shomer ,   USA   (07.01.11)
the house of cards (Palestine) is beginning to collapse!
3. Don't trust the USA to keep it's word
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (07.01.11)
It had also said that it wouldn't recognize the Muslim Brotherhood, they just did Barak Hussein Obama is calling the shots, his guns are pointed at Israel
4. I wholeheartedly concur with the author.
Israeli 2   (07.01.11)
5. Good analysis, but once the PA is gone, who will take over?
Vlad   (07.01.11)
Hamas.
6. Israel needs the two state solution not the pals
Abdalla   (07.01.11)
We should drop the pa and demand rights and equality . Instead of building a state we get one already made . Then we will change it every year little by little
7. Great!!! Israel will get 3 millOn i new citizens
Musa   (07.01.11)
8. Let the PA collapse
Cynic #2   (07.01.11)
So what, Europe and the USA created Israel for their colonial interests. If the PA collapses then it will have to be the one state solution. End of story, beginning of a conflict of different kind.
9. As in Kosovo and Abyei, the IDF will be relieved
seadog1946 ,   Erie Basin, NYC   (07.01.11)
by a UN peacekeeping force in the West Bank.
10. End of 2 state does not mean Israel takes Palestinians back
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (07.01.11)
If the author is correct, and the end of this is the failure of the PA, the Palestinians, and efforts to destroy Israel, the assumption that Israel takes them back is not the only option. UNSC 242 is the solution: Egypt is slowly taking more responsibility for their citizens living in Gaza, and could end up getting them back in spite of the signed peace treaty. Jordan knows and fears that they could get back most of the Palestinians living on the east side of the security fence. It is quite likely that this would happen to areas A and B as Israel has relinquished control to the Arabs. Thus the old saying of the past 2 Jordanian Kings could yet come true "Jordan is Palestine, Palestine is Jordan" - the only ones against this is the old guard in Jordan (afraid of loosing their perks) and the PLO who would be back to where they were under Jordan in Black September.
11. One state was a better deal .
Palestinian   (07.01.11)
Hey Israel do you really want 5 million Palestinians
12. #1 Mark bJ shouts, "The sky is FALLING!"
CK Tan ,   Singapore, Singapore   (07.01.11)
Mark is IGNORANT that tamas has PUBLICLY announced that Gaza is LIBERATED ever since Israel UNILATERALLY withdrew in 2005. SADLY for Mark, Israel is thus NO longer DIRECTLY responsible for running that enclave. WB is going to DISAPPOINT Mark too, cos someone else - whether from PLO or whatever - WILL take over. After all, the lure of EASY money for the palis from clueless donor countries has ALWAYS attracted "talents" who are willing to LINE their own pockets...oops, I mean, willing to serve the people.
13. #7 Sorry Musa, but they'll just remain occupied. Oh well...
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (07.01.11)
14. It's because Abbas has run out of ideas
William ,   Israel   (07.01.11)
He never was an idea man. He was a figure head of the political side of a violent terrorist group (PLO). They have only one idea - destroy Israel. Everything else to them is noise. He made a great declaration that was meant to bring Israel to its knees and cave on concessions. Didn't work - now the PA drives straight for the cliff because they don't have any idea of other options. Perhaps the collapse of the PA will bring a more pragmatic side of WB Arabs.
15. #7 - you mean Jordan will get 3 million new citizens
William ,   Israel   (07.01.11)
most already have Jordanian passports and moved into the WB between 1949-1967 when Jordan pushed the foreign population there after illegal annexation. Not our problem if the "Palestinians" govt makes bad choices. We tired of supporting the bad decisions of welfare Arabs.
16. #5 - who was there before the PA came in 1994?
William ,   Israel   (07.01.11)
It wasn't Hamas, and if Israel has to move in to fill the vacuum, Hamas will be the first target.
17. #6 - Jordan is a nice, ready-made State
William ,   Israel   (07.01.11)
and walla - you're already the majority there. So no real effort on your part to get equality.
18. #9 - not unless we agree to it, per UN Charter
William ,   Israel   (07.01.11)
and since the UN hasn't done squat in S. Lebanon, Sinai, or border with Syria, not to mention other global locales, my guess is they won't be in the West Bank either...except when they're on break.
19. Fictional Palestine is toast.
Chaim ,   Israel   (07.01.11)
The fictional Palestine statehood declaraiton of 1988 was an absolute disaster, despite the fact that conditions were far more favorable for Palestine than they are today. There were less than 300,000 Jews in Judea and Samaria than. There are 700,000 today. Israel can easily assure the next fictional Palestine declaration is an even bigger fiasco. A fiasco of historic proportions. Than fictional Palestine is toast. Nobody will ever take it seriously again.
20. To: No. 11
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.01.11)
Hey, ersatz "Palestinian." What on earth makes you think that Israel would accept you as a citizen? Ixnay, bubbeleh -- we will repatriate your asses to Jordan. We won. Have fun. :-))
21. To: No. 7
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.01.11)
Not on your nellie. We're sending you home to Jordan. Don't let the door hit you in the tizz on your way out of Medinat Israel.
22. To: No. 1
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.01.11)
What planet do you live on? The ersatz "Palestinians" will not be a part of Israel's future. Israel will annex Judea and Samaria and repatriate all Arabs illegally squatting there to Jordan, country of their citizenship. We are going to send them home. No more pretenses.
23. To: No. 9
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.01.11)
Oh, I think not. Actually, I'm pretty sure not. Israel will annex non-sovereign Judea and Samaria, and repatriate all the illegal Arab squatters there to Jordan, country of their citizenship. UN "peacekeeping" force? You really shouldn't drink this early in the morning.
24. To: William at No. 14
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.01.11)
Actually, Abbas was only doing what the ersatz "Palestinians" are best at doing -- shooting themselves in the foot. Except this time he missed, and took a lethal shot in the heart. Oh well. C'est la vie. Actually, c'est la mort.
25. #11 Palestinian - NOBODY WANT THEM
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (07.01.11)
So, when the occasion arises that a home must be found for them, it will be Jordan, which consists of 75% of the land intended for the Jews, which the British swiped and gave to Emir Abdullah, for services rendered during WW ONE The never was a Palestine, I dare you to prove there ever was Name just three of its kings or rulers. What are their achievements? With which other peoples did the Palestinians interact? Where can one find any records where in the name of the country of Palestine or its people are mentioned? What Archaeological sites can one name? Where can one find the recorded history of these people? Whom did they conquer or were conquered by? Was Palestine ever recognized by a country whose existence, at that time or even now, leaves no room for misunderstanding? Can anyone name at least Five Palestinian leaders before Arafat?
26. #7 Musa - I hate to disillusion you
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (07.01.11)
Jordan will get them and they won't be given citizenship either
27. #1 MARK BJ
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (07.01.11)
Wrong again, at least you’re consistent; the burden will be upon those residing in Mandate Palestine, which is far larger than Israel Jordan will have the honor of being the host, after all they have 75% of the Mandate land that should have been Israel's if the Brits hadn't swiped it and given it to Emir Abdullah as a reward for services he rendered in World War One
28. ABBAS HAS MADE ENOUGH
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (07.01.11)
Now he can afford to jump ship and retire to somewhere nicer. He should worry about he PA!! THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
29. "Pakestinians" or better YET ARAB REFUGEES FROM JORDAN
David ,   Haifa Israel   (07.01.11)
are headed to war with us... and I srael will remove these vermin
30. 12 ck - Last Time Was Iran
Mark ben Josuf ,   USA   (07.01.11)
The last time, Iran took over the funding and Hamas got the governing. Yea, each time is different. It is just a choice of who steps in to fill the void. Maybe you can talk the Saudis into it? What do you think their price might be? It is your "whatever" that is the concern. The current IS the PLO. As for the donor countries, who are you lining up? Which suckers have you chosen? China, Russia? Which ones will bite?
