It is to Croatia's credit and prestige as an independent contemporary state to host this event. Congratulation to Croatia for sticking with Israel!

I support a non-political cultural exchange. As a Jew I am objectively curious to learn what amends the Croats have made regarding their fascist past and support of Nazim. Of course, not all Croats are responsible, maybe a Croat can tell me.

As a Jewish-Croatian, I believe I could offer you some insight into your question regarding "Nazism." First off, would you honestly believe that the state of Israel would pursue such friendly relations with a "Nazi" nation? A declared NATO ally that for a number of years now has been helping fight Islamic extremism in Afghanistan? A nation that President Shimon Peres visited and declared a "friend to Israel"? That alone should suffice, as I seriously doubt that the leadership of Israel, who from 1948 and to this day is entirely surrounded with hostile borders would be stupid enough to fall for a bunch of undercover Nazis. Having said that, Ben, clearly your comment suggests a level of maturity and intelligence. You are right, not all Croats are responsible, in fact the first legitimate resistance in the WW2 Balkan theatre was the 1st Sisak Partisan Detachment, although mainly Croat, was overall rather multi-ethnic and included Jews as well. But yes there was a puppet state in power and we all know what happened. It still perplexes me to this day why Jews were even targetted, as our community has always been a proponent of independence. From a personal standpoint I can testify to the horrors of the Ustase. But that reality of course included that the clear majority of the Croatian population did not support the Ustase; many Croats died fighting them or opposing them. Enough with the history lesson though, the Croatia of today is still in transition economically. Politically however, it is rather clear where people stand. Some anti-semetism still exists, but this notion of tying the desire for independence with Nazism only furthers the claim the Ustase had on being the sole cause of nationhood: the independence of the early 1990s was a result of a democratic election, and not a dictatorship as was seen in the 1940s. Feel free to ask me for anymore details if you want. I can provide sources or more personal naratives. But I will say that for the promotion of both Israel as so much more than a state in constant conflict, and for Croatia as a prime tourist destination, this is an excellent opportunity. And as far as I am concerned given the negative media attention Israel is faced with on a daily basis, positive messages like this are a breath of fresh air. Regards

don't know why they do it in Novalja - where 1 semi-naked girl is surrounded by 10 horny guys. If they wanted "Tel Aviv atmosphere" - city of Zadar is much better place for partying in Croatia, and has that Garden festival on nearby beach where ppl come from all around the world... Much more classy...
