When you make such a sweeping disparagement of an article and accuse the author of lying, you are expected to provide adequate proof of your claims. Otherwise no one would take you seriously. I am a Jew. I never "climbed out of Christianity." I am not redefining anything, and I am well aware of the Quartodeciman Controversy, the Council of Nicea, etc. I understand your point in terms of a formal, institutionalized "church." However, "Christian" and "church" are first mentioned in the new covenant, and its description of the church is not in agreement with with the "Roman-redacted syncretized Hellenist mythology" you reference. My point is that antisemitism is not consistent with true Christianity as it is defined in the new covenant. What problem do you have with that?

Clearly, these people do not understand or even know of the prophesy in Ruth. If they did, this would not even be a discussion. I'm a Christian who believes in the "chosen-ness" of Israel and its right to exist as a sovereign state. What bothered me about the article was the author's use "Pope Ratzinger" rather than "Pope Benedict." Was this done intentionally to try to link the papacy in the readers' minds with Nazi Germany? If so, shame on you. If not, why not show the proper respect. (btw - I am not Catholic.)

The WCC doesn't speak on behalf of all 590 million members of its member churches. It does however, gather resources and turn them over to some pretty hard-core anti-Israel activists. The fact that the WCC assembly on Christianity in the Middle East did not address the issue of Islam's attitude toward non-Muslims is not surprising. The organization assails Christian Zionism, but says nothing at all about Muslim extremism. The organization's prophetic voice is corrupted by politics. It remained relatively silent about the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, but assails Israel. Why? Because the Russian Orthodox Church protected the Soviet Union at the Middle East Council of Churches prevailed upon the WCC to attack Israel.

These anti-Israel Christian voices are obviously not the only ones to be heard. As far as Catholics go, when they engage in anti-Israel activism they are not expressing the Catholic faith at all but rather betraying it. Many other Catholics completely reject this repugnant and hypocritical attitude. Christianity is monotheistic; one God in three forms. Much like water can manifest itself as liquid, ice or vapor so can God. Catholicism is a cult. It puts the Pope on the same level or above God, believes good works, purgatory, baptism, last rites, etc. are all the way to heaven, that priests are able to forgive sin and embraces many practices the Bible condemns as abominations. Catholicism was responsible for the Crusades. Christianity, on the other hand, is believing that Jesus, the Son of God, is the only sinless Sacrifice God will accept for your sins then simply praying and asking Him to be your Savior.
