Victory for democracy, freedom of speech, and the Knesset. Unfortunately, the Palestinians are their own worst enemy. On one hand, they cry that they want peace. On the other hand, they say they want to total destruction of Israel and continually attack it with bombs and rockets. Thus, Israel responds and it is usually a harsh response. Its clear to most of the world, including Israel, that the Palestinians really don't want peace. They really want Israel to leave and that is never going to happen. So the reality is there will probably never be any peace in the ME unless some attitudes and actions change.
3. nakba harta !
ilan ,   nazareth   (07.04.11)
after losing "1948 genocidal war" they started, thats what arabs leaders had to say: "The arab armies entered palestine to protect the palestinians from the zionist tyranny but, instead, they abandoned them, forced them to immigrate and to leave their home land, imposed upon them a political and ideological blockade and threw them into prisons similar to the ghettos in which the jews used to live in easter europe, as if we where condemned to change places with them. The arab states succeeded in scattering the palestinians and in destroying their unity. abu-mazen (Falastin el-Th'ora,beirut, march 1976) Secretary General of the Arab League, Azzam Pasha, agreed that Arab leadership encouraged Palestinians to temporarily leave their homes: "It was promised that conquering Palestine would be a military picnic, our advice to the Palestinians was to temporarily leave their homes" (Al-Huda, Lebanon June 5th, 1951). Syrian Prime Minister, Khalid Al-Azam (in his book Memories, 1973) laments and writes: "We brought disaster on the refugees, when we urged them to abandon their homes."

arrest this traitor and deport him and his family home to gaza

freedom of speech.
6. I recognize they came to murder my family
Golan ,   modiin   (07.04.11)
and got their asses kicked. Barukh Hashem! The bill should include that the Nakba is the result of Arab self imposed affliction and anyone who denies that is a moron. That includes Tibi, Gush Shalom, Peace Now, Anarchists against walls, and Shimon Peres.
7. I know this is off topic, but...
Adam ,   Golan Heights Israel   (07.04.11)
...I have no idea where else to post it. What is the latest news regarding Raed Salah's ban and arrest in UK? @YNet: An update would appreciated. It appears a worldwide blanket media gag was slammed over the story. Last news available online states that UK was investigating, and that was 3 days ago. Was he charged or deported?
8. What in the world is this Arab doing in the govt of Israel?
Chaim   (07.04.11)
If they don't appreciate Israel, they should make their own laws in Gaza, or better yet in Jordan where they originate. Why does Israel allow traitors in their government?
9. Actually, their so-called "Nakba" is greatly exaggerated.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (07.04.11)
If they want to celebrate it on their own, let them. It's not Israel's business to legislate it. Even their Arab brothers could care less, except to use it as a propaganda tool.
10. "The Nakba" was indeed a catastrophe from the Arabs' point..
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (07.04.11)
...of view: The re-institution of Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel. It is high time the Arabs, Tibi and otherwise, accept Israel's RIGHT to be - not only the FACT that it is - to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people.
11. Israeli Democracy
Ellen ,   Israel/USA   (07.04.11)
It continues to be ludicrous that avowed enemies of Israel are able to be part of the Knesset. Just as ludicrous is the fact that those who scream Israel is an apartheid country don't get the inconsistency. In response to #1s objection to calling him and others of his ilk, 'chaveri " Knesset, we long long ago have referred to them as "Sonei" Knesset. ( enemy or hating )
12. Never recognize Palestinian fiction.
Eliyahu Konn ,   Powell, OH   (07.04.11)
The Knesset must never recognize a non-existent people. Indigenous Hebrews and Arabs they will always be regardless of the deadly games the nations and temporary powers are playing with our lives. But Avraham avinu's purchase record in the Land still exists. No one else can make that claim.
13. TIBI
rimoczi ,   Düsseldorf/germany   (07.04.11)
"See you at the high Court" is a non existent challenge in the arab world, Tibi is using the freedom and democracy for his dirty work! Send him to Damaskus or the Teheran "High Court"
14. #7 The Queen is probably hosting him for tea.

15. Nakba - why not promotting the Jewish Nakba.?
jorge ,   Israel/USA/Argentina   (07.04.11)
16. Bill was treasonous, rightly rejected
Stan ,   USA   (07.04.11)
The legitimacy of the state itself is not subject to democratic debating. This is one of the major confusions of our time. One cannot expect calls for revolution to be recognized by the government as legitimate politics.
17. "a dark day of democracy"
tiki ,   belgium   (07.04.11)
Our new 'defenders of democracy...., Achmed Tibi & consorts. Please try not to laugh.
18. All part of the renewed Israel/Palestinian talks..
Barry Soetoro   (07.04.11)
that will be held in Washington.
19. some arabs call it "nakba", others call it a gift from god
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (07.04.11)
where else on the middle east can arabs enjoy freedom and liberty like israel? (nowhere) actually, tibi's submitting the bill proves the "nakba" is anything but a disaster.
20. 12 and what about "netzarim" fiction?
mike   (07.04.11)
nah, the knesset never speaks about things so obscure and insignificant despite posing to be jewish.
21. What's next? A "nakba" day for the British on July 4th?
Cynic ,   USA   (07.04.11)
22. Why is Tibi a member of the presidium?
michaelredbourn ,   Arad Israel   (07.04.11)
I don't know how Tibi got onto the presidium, but it's obvious that he shouldn't be there. Like Zoabi he should be living outside of Israel. Vipers have no place in the nest!
23. And What A Catastrophe
Douglas Fireman ,   Chicago, USA   (07.04.11)
"the national tragedy beheld by the children of Palestine, residents of the land". And the children still suffer. They are still exploited, used, and abused by their leadership. After 63 years the national tragedy still prevails. The rights of the children, the people, have been trampled by a leadership who refuse to live in peace with Israel. Leadership is still holding their people hostage. They are still trampling the rights of their people; using them to promote their selfish goals and objectives. To implicate Israel for having caused the Nakba or expecting Israel to recognize it as a day of mourning is ridiculous. Let the Arabs mourn the fact that for over 63 years they have done nothing to implement peace in the region. Their failure to do this is an every day Nakba for their children; their entire people. The Arabs created the 'catastrophe.' Palestinian leadership continues to impose it on their people. Three cheers that Tibi's bill did not pass.
24. And who is denying this 'Nakba'?
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (07.04.11)
I haven't heard of any group denying their whining about our survival. The only thing I have heard is either the facts that they first started whining in 1920 when they lost their Syrian citizenship and that now they are whining because they can't use government funds to whine about it today. I here I thought wine and Arabs didn't go together. Maybe we should give him cottage cheese to go with his whine.
25. These pretenders, the alleged and...
Gideon Reader ,   USA   (07.04.11)
...so called Palestinians, are their own Nabka. But let's give credit where credit is due. They have, after all, set a new record for screwing up anything and everything they have ever done, and it appears that this will continue for the long term forseeable future. For them, everyday is Nabka Day. They would be better off with Bobka Day.
26. Trade him for Gilad Shalit!

27. there should be no place for enemies
Barney ,   USA   (07.05.11)
of the State of Israel to serve in the govt. As great as Israel is they do allow some of the dumbest things to occur. This joker should be deported or jailed.
28. Tibi: A Man Without Honor or Shame
EZ ,   USA   (07.05.11)
He disgracefully plays the 'copycat' "game" as if to make a statement through comparison yet he FAILS to address the facts: THE ARABS FAILED ABYSMALLY AS HUMAN BEINGS AND AS A CULTURE IN THEIR OVERALL APPROACH AND ACTIONS TOWARD THE RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF ISRAEL. Their foolish and hateful behavior of attacking the Jews, telling their own people to "leave" until the Arab collective wiped the Jews off of the map was indeed a lesson in what NOT to do to the Jews. Yes, it was a catastrophe...of Arab thinking and action. So perhaps they're right about 'observing' a nakba day but it has nothing to do with the Jews: the TRUE nakba day should be the observance of how foolish Arabs were and are: how their prejudice and hate FAILED: how they were DEAD WRONG in their desire to be so murderous and how HORRIBLY they paid the price for being so thoughtless, heartless, mindless and inhumane. May the humiliation, shame and embarrassment of the "ARAB FAILURES" continue to burn in the hearts of every Arab alive for the rest of history. Their misguided attempts to "finish" the holocaust cost them everything. Now, the world has very, very little respect for the Arabs as a result of their NAKBA THINKING. If Tibi wants us to recognize the Arab Nakba (FAILURE)...there is no need for making it a crime for anyone NOT to recognize their catastrophic ways: the world remembers and sees it every day and all one needs to do is open a history book or surf the web to see the humiliating catastrophe the Arabs put themselves in time and again. Actually, Tibi would be well informed to create a holiday that gave the world a break from remembering the Arab catastrophes they created throughout history...it would be quite refreshing to forget the overwhelmingly negative impact the Arabs have had through history in their attempts to force their culture and Theo-political philosophy on the rest of humanity: we could ALL use a vacation day from that! It should be illegal to 'remember' the Arab catastrophes for at LEAST one day a year. Let's cut the Arab collective a break one day a year and forget all of their actions and simply treat them as members of mankind, nothing more, nothing less.
