Israel is in this perpetual state of (perceived?) war. Generation after generation of youth is trained for war and most of them experience war. Which other country in the world does that to their youth? Israel has never really made an effort for peace. (it's always arabs that oppose peace, yeah right) My ex-bf (born '48) was a soldier in 3 wars. He emigrated, because he thought he'd done enough his duty to put his sons to that same experience.
