1. Shame on them...cutting themsleves off from the people...END
(07.05.11)
2. I will say it again
Sheik rattle & roll ,   usa   (07.05.11)
As an American Jew I said it before and will say it again Obama will get re-elected. We support Israel but America is our home and we see no alternative to Obama at this point and time.
3. Anyone surprised?
Cameron ,   USA   (07.05.11)
Like lemmings, US Jews will follow him right over the edge of the cliff with a smile.
4. For a Smart People, We Vote Dumb
Essie HaKohane ,   Florida, USA   (07.05.11)
When voting, American Jews look at other issues in addition to Israel. As time goes on, Israel becomes less of a priority to this group. They don't realize how crucial Israel is to the continued existence of modern day Judaism.
5. US Jews are overwhelmingly Democrat
Sean Green ,   Pasadena, USA   (07.05.11)
Which is odd as Republicans are overwhelmingly pro Israel. Republicans are predominantly protestant. American Protestants really like Judaism. As they seek an identity further from Catholicism they lean towards the Jewish roots in their religion.
6. BY 2012 THEY WILL CHANGE
american jew ,   new york   (07.05.11)
The American Jews are wise to understand what it means to support Obama. . To give back to ABU-Mazin_HAMAS the west bank and Jerusalem- Tel-Aviv and all of Israel will be in danger. Most probably noArab person was born to accept "losing" even small part of "palestine".
7. let me guess
Jeff ,   Chicago   (07.05.11)
To preclude most of the talkbacks that I'm sure will completely flood this page within about ten minutes or so--I'm guessing that my support for Obama because of my support universal health care and my lack of desire for cuts to medicare and social security makes me a "disgraceful self-hating Jew" for supporting "the Muslim Hussein Obama" who "constantly throws Israel under the bus" despite bailing Israel out at the Security Council (for the millionth time) and presiding over a giant increase in military aid (paying for Iron Dome)... right? I don't think you realize how much you alienate American Jews with this stuff
8. Incorrect assumptions
Tom ,   USA   (07.05.11)
The large majority of American Jewry is secular and the Marxist ideological leaning trumps anything else. Jewish existence is not merely a religion but a culture, ethnicity, history and language as well. All these factors are alien items to the Anglo Jewry whom - for the most part - second, third generation Bolsheviks from E. Europe-Russia. Zionist - nationalist - is an Israeli citizen speaking Ivrit and the wide gap between the two concept exists for all to see.
9. Poll: Obama still enjoys high approval rate among US Jews
Avi ,   NYC US   (07.05.11)
This is sickening.. The general Jewish population in the US are the capos equivalent during Hitler's time. As the song says.. " When will they ever learn" You American Jews are pathetic
10. 60% of support is a significant downtrend
read the numbers   (07.05.11)
~80% of US Jews supported Obama in 2008. May 2011 - 68% June 2011 - 60%
11. I just don't get it.
hoogstra ,   canada   (07.05.11)
POTUS constantly throws Israel under the bus. Please explain.
12. Shameful
Steve ,   USA   (07.05.11)
US Jews continue to place domestic and world literalistic and socialistic views over support for Israel. Very shameful of them. It seems to be ingrained in them (I'm a Jew, though a Republican) that voting Republican is still a vote for 'extremism' and 'racial bigotry', something that may have been an issue 50 years ago, but is not now. The support given to the American blacks was justified back then, though now they (African Americans) are mostly anti-Semitic now. Appeasement is strong among American Jews non the less.
13. Mushiakh Mushiakh Mushiakh
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (07.05.11)
14. Jewish Vote
anonymous ,   Istanbul, Turkey   (07.05.11)
American Jews are not a one issue voter, in fact many do not identify Israel as a top three issue. They tend to be liberal people and probably couldn't envision themselves ever voting Republican. Besides Obama has only been less pro-Israel in rhetoric, his actions are consistent with US foreign policy as always. Also he doesn't like Netanyahu so that gives an impression of anti-Israel as well, now he probably really doesn't like him seeing as how Netanyahu basically endorsed the Republicans.
15. Obama
Michaelpielet ,   Boca, usa   (07.05.11)
I hate to tell you but the Gallup poll is terribly flawed. First who is a Jew? How does the Gallup poll determine who is a Jew? Second amongst religious Jews Obama has absolutely no support, approaching zero!. Religious Jews make up 25% of the Jewish electorate. Obama in 2012 will be lucky if he gets 50% of the Jewish vote. What the Gallup poll says is amongst liberals a significant number who claim to be Jewish but are not, Obama has 60% support. Nice try gallup, but numbers do not lie only people lie.
16. US JEWS
Mike Caton ,   usa   (07.05.11)
US Jews will continue to vote Democrat, no matter who the candidate is, even if it threatens the lives of their co-relionists in Israel. For the majority US jews, the very words Republicans and Conservatives conjures up in their minds, visions of concentration camps, crematoria, KKK, Jim Crow apartheid of blacks, etc. They are hopelessly mired in the 1930's and 4o's, and still live in the time of FDR. I don't know what it will take to get them to shift alliances-another Holocaust , perhaps. I would appreciate responses to this post.
17. US Jews and Obama
ggraczyk15@yahoo.com ,   Santa Rosa, CA USA   (07.05.11)
Too often Yediot readers are treated to the world according to Glenn Beck and FOX. American Jews value their tradition of concern for the poor, Jewish or not, and equality before the law. Israel has lost its way domestically and internationally over the last ten years or more. Welcome Beck in August and listen to his hate-filled rants all you like. We have had enough of Obama bashing by the far right plutocrats here. Take them if you want to. We don't want them anymore.
18. Obama
ggraczyk15@yahoo.com ,   Santa Rosa, CA USA   (07.05.11)
What is sickening, dear friend, is your comparing your American Jewish brethren to Nazis because YOU disagree with our president. OUR president, remember. When we elect your Prime Minister, you can choose our president. You ought to be ashamed of yourself for such a disgusting analogy.
19. Obama has my support, but I will stay undecided.
Michael ,   California, USA   (07.05.11)
The racist Israelis, a minority in Israel, dislike Obama for his Muslim roots and for being Black. But Obama has been supporting Israel and acting very reasonably since elected. He has proven himself as a good president and supporter of Israel on the international scene. Obama has been struggling valiantly with very serious issues, economical ones, domestically. I surmise I will vote for Obama's reelection in 2012, but will stay undecided till the end along with many Americans. How I will vote will depend how the American economy holds up under Obama. Israeli issues are of secondary importance because long-term the Congress has more to say about foreign policy in America than does the President.
20. How about some reins to go with those blinders!
bernard ross ,   st anns bay jamaica   (07.05.11)
21. #7, Jews have always been overwhelmingly Democrat
Danny   (07.05.11)
Apart from donning an SS uniform there is nothing a democrat can do to alienate them. This is why the scare about the Jewish vote is such BS.
22. If this is true - those US Jews are ridiculous people.
Lee ,   Manchester UK   (07.05.11)
but obama hussain is a master of deceptions so i don't believe a word.
23. american jews are libs first
moron ,   galut   (07.05.11)
roosevelt's jews were not zionist either when it mattered today's sorry leftists are ignorant of politics and not because they devote themselves to torah study! i must say israelis depend on america but most do not take the trouble to understand its politics which thankfully will not be determined only by L.A.&NEW YORK
24. The problem is
John cone ,   Usa   (07.05.11)
I voted for bush last go around, the problem is there is a drepression in this country and a lot of mad people who are mad they lost jobs homes medical insurance and pensions. Now talks about cutting social security Medicare cuts and tax cuts for the rich. Cut cut cut instead of creating jobs and spending the money to do that. I am as right wing as can be on israel but the republicans are making it very hard to vote for them, and people vote with thier pocketbooks. Republicans are blowing it big time. The past two three elections I was republican.
25. Obama will not win re election
Rachel ,   US   (07.05.11)
Not because of Israel, but because of the lousy economy.
26. Very, very sad if true. I find it hard to believe.
Kayla ,   Florida   (07.05.11)
How I would move to Israel if I could. I do not want to see what will happen if he gets re-elected either. I will never trust him. He wants a dialogue with the Muslim Brotherhood?! Wake up, people!
27. Just like their parents and grandparents
jason white ,   afula, israel   (07.05.11)
voted for the democrat roosevelt and silently let 6,000,000 Jews die. These "jews" are willing to let another 6,000,000 die now. I wonder if they are writing out checks for a second holocaust memorial already? Our blood will be on their hands, but they do not care. No wonder people hate us, we do not love each other. At least we have the non Jews of the U.S. to vote for a real American for POTUS and not a rabid anti Semite.
28. There must be some very sick death wish at work here.
Chaim ,   Israel   (07.05.11)
If this poll is accurate, it depicts a Jewish community composed largely of depraved liberals, who place support of even the most destructive liberal above the dignity and survival of Jews. It is unfathomable. The worst part about it is that our true Republican friends may give up on us. Why should they take on our enemies when we side with them? There must be some kind of very sick death wish at work here. Instead of studying why some Non-Jews hate us, we should study and find remedies for why so many Jews hate themselves.
29. Sheik rattle & roll @ 2, I disagree.
leo ,   usa   (07.05.11)
There are plenty of alternatives to Obama. I, for example, am partial to Sarah Palin and Herman Cain. There are others too. Obama hadn't done anything to earn my support. I cannot see how could you follow this empty suite so blindly.
30. Avi @ 9, you are overreacting. I agree, stupidity and
leo ,   usa   (07.05.11)
naivete of my liberal brethren has no bounds at times. But comparing them to capos is just on par. Even if Obama will be elected POTUS again it is not the end of the World. In the first two years of his presidency Obama enjoyed filibuster proof Senate and overwhelming majority in The House. Because of that he was able to do a lot of damage to the US. It is no longer the case today and will become even less so after Nov. 2012 elections.
