1. we didnt like...
courtney ,   usa   (07.07.11)
the way our country was heading with our leadership, so we voted in a new one... maybe gazans should try the same
2. Gazans don't like the siege?
Rachel ,   US   (07.07.11)
Israelis don't like the rockets and missiles fired from Gaza.
3. @ #1
El ,   Canada   (07.07.11)
The problem is that in western countries we have the option to vote. In countries where terrorism and extremism runs rampant, like Gaza for example I know that if Hamas is in control they can't vote any new "government" in. Even if they could the opposition would most likely be killed. It's the sad truth.
4. exporting goods impossible with Hamas still in charge
El ,   Canada   (07.07.11)
At least they are admitting to the amount of aid that is being sent in, but they are right exporting must be done, though it will require searching and should be done very carefully. This is only because of the history of suicide bombings at border crossings and because Hamas is in control it will be less likely that Israel will allow more goods exported due the high possibility of Hamas planting a bomb on the trucks, etc.
5. Why are exports being blocked by Israelis???
Mikesailor ,   Miami, FL   (07.08.11)
If you allow in 'consumer goods', why not allow Gazans to export their manufactures and agricultural products? Why the stranglehold on exports? The hypocrisy of zionists knows no bounds. They pat themselves on the back for allowing Gazans to have toasters, but ensure that all electricity must be controlled by Israel. They will not allow exports thereby depriving the Gazans of any meaningful employment. They will not allow building supplies, or even PVC sewage pipe in to Gaza for those items could...what? Be able to live? This is the face of an occupation which the zionists continually deny. Why? I guess the truth hurts. And why would someone advocate the careful search of exports? Afraid you won't be able to make money off the suffering of the poor and defenceless?
6. There is no longer any blockade
John ,   Alaska   (07.08.11)
Ever since Egypt opened their border crossing with Gaza, the inhabitants have had a means of moving goods in and out of the territory. If this crossing is no longer open, that is the decision of the Egyptians who opened it in the first place and Israel, who had no say in opening the crossing into Egypt, has no responsibility for this. As to the Israel side of the border, Israel is NOT required to have an open border with anyone. Given the past and current terrorist action conducted by and/or with authorization of Hamas, it is reasonable that Israel would choose not to open their border. Nevertheless, according to the article, Israel is in fact providing aid to their enemies in Gaza. The Arabs are only angry because the current arrangement make it hard for them to kill Jews.
7. Good Article ...
John ,   Alaska   (07.08.11)
... in that it's always important to know the perspective of one's enemies, and AP is of course no friend of Israel. The article only becomes dangerous if read with the assumption of journalistic objectivity.
8. To sailor boy. Not all goods are bloked from export
(07.08.11)
Fruits are being exported. If Hamas was at leeast like the PA (which is not much to say, anyway) things would be different. The Aim of Hamas is the destruction of Israel openly. If Hamas would let Shalit go free things will be different. As for Gazans same as the rest of Palestinians they agree on Hamas policies. They voted for Hamas. All of them are potential terrorists. Like the Germans in Hitle'rs time. They voted for the Nazi policies overwhelming, the y knew of Hitler's antisemitic ideology stated in My Campf. Same goes for Palestinians. They are enemies of Israel and of the Jews. You saw the Fogels murder, they are were not from Gaza, they came from the West Bank.
