1. According to the Rambam, Torah law is the law
C.C.   (07.06.11)
and certainly the law for the Jewish land. Secular judges and government officials are absolutely not qualified to change Jewish laws because they don't like the Torah law or it seems too extreme. If you don't like it, don't live in the Jewish land. The Jewish land is based on Torah. Like it or not!
2. Rabbis

should be men of god! LOL
3. The secular authority should not.....

...mingle in a religiously based statement or argument, it's non of their business. They should however worry about treacherous behaviour from certain MK instead as such IS their business.

Please refer me to the document of Israel's founding that said it was to be based on Torah law?

"According to the Rambam (Maimonides), the appropriate way is the central way, which is the golden path," You have a not-so-strange way of quoting only those words you agree with, and ignoring those (of rabbi Amar, and therefore of the Rambam) you don't agree with.

Dear C.C. Your message is so radical as fundamentalistic. Israel is, in fact, a Jewish State, but not a Rabbinic State. For me and for many other friend people, She is a Democratic Republic, open also to Muslims, Christians, Agnostics, Atheists, etc. Law must be separated from Religion, although not indifferent. On the contrary, you will have a dictatorial "theocracy", the same that exists in Saudi Arabia and Iran; the same that existed in Catholic and Protestant countries during the terrible times of Inquisition, "pogroms" or intolerance as a whole.
9. same old Peres- check out Jerusalem Post -27.4.1976

Peres, Minister of Transport representing the Jewish state of Israel, visiting aboard the luxury Queen Elizabeth ll in Ashdod, specifically requested non-kasher food. ( the Cunard line had spent $250,000 to make the whole deck kasher). Even the British Ambassador had insisted that the food at the captain's reception be kashe,r but ourJewish country's representative, Shimon Peres, the Jew, rejected the Jewish values then just as he does now. An interesting post that reveals just how much Peres cares for Judaism and things Jewish.

#7 Solomon is correct. First you must remember that Jews are supposed to follow civil law as well as religious law. The State of Israel was established as a state for all Jews not just religious Jews. Rabbis because of who they are must be circumspect in what they say. Halacha needs updating to 21st century before it can even be considered as the law of any land. What you and your friends are proposing in a Theocracy to replace a Democracy. A theocracy will make most of the taxpaying and army members leave this country thus causing the demise of Israel once again. Separate religion from politics to ensure a future for the state of Israel
