1. Oh, please
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.07.11)
Sabotage? If Israel wanted to sabotage a ship, it would presently be lying on the bottom of the sea. Not everyone understands vessels or shipping. Me? It's what I do. For starters, these so -called delivery vessels of "humanitarian aid" carried nothing. All -- absolutely all -- are pleasure craft and passenger ferries. No cargo holds. No place to put the so-called alleged "humanitarian aid." Face it, folks. This floptilla fell on its sword. Which is just as well, because -- apart from Hamas -- there IS no "humanitarian" crisis in Gaza. Gaza is a sewer, but that's entirely by Hamas' design. And the Palmer Report authorized by the United Nations has acknowledged that Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip is fully legal and internationally recognized. What's an "activist" to do except slink home, tail neatly tucked under his legs. Bye-bye. They won't be back. They won't be back. They have learned their lesson. Perhaps they may wish to underake a humanitarian sail to -- oh, countries on the African Horn, or the Caribbean, or Latin America, or even Eastern Europe, where REAL humanitarian crises abound. But no. They won't. Where's the fun in actually helping people in dire straits if you cannot pound Israel in the process? Frauds and phonies. Sail away, please.
2. FLOPtilla!!!!
LOL ,   London   (07.07.11)
... seems they became over excited with the PR opportunity they thought existed, but was only an Erdogan illusion....
3. Chalk up a nice big "W" for Israel on this round
Tahl   (07.07.11)
Now where's that douchebag who wrote on Op-ed here, saying we lost the PR war? I bet he's feeling kinda sorry and disappointed now.
4. Week ago there were 10 ships and 300 people. What's now?
leo ,   usa   (07.07.11)
What about reporters? Are they running off too?
5. Don't these people work for a living???
Amazed ,   Israel   (07.07.11)
I would love to have the amount of free time these people have to spend time sailing around the Med.
6. A laugh
Ivan ,   South Africa   (07.07.11)
The activists sound like my neighbors dog...a big bark but no bite.
7. #4 Leo - weeks before that
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (07.07.11)
There were 15 ships and 1500 people, which vanished into the massive amount of hot air they put out, which created a fog concealing their actual intentions Not to deliver aid, merely to seek publicity and create propaganda It's quite evident that their hot air balloon has burst
8. Poor sap - Dan Israel
William ,   Israel   (07.07.11)
"Important thing is that Israel allows supplies into Gaza" That was never in question. The Greeks knew this which is why they offered to send any "aid" to Israel or Egypt to be passed on to Gaza. Not that Gaza needs any of it. "criticize Greece for aiding the blockade" Greece is obeying that law, which the Palmer report acknowledge in supporting the Gaza blockade. So come back if you dare - we'll be here.
9. Chuckle
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.07.11)
"Despite the circumstances causing the activists to return home, the spokesman said they are not at all disappointed and happy with their contribution." Yeah, right.
10. Greek friends and allies
kapriza ,   tsafon   (07.07.11)
A HUGE shout-out to Greece for their friendship and support!!! Thanks, Greece!
11. "Israel sabotaged ship OR planned to do so"
William ,   Israel   (07.07.11)
Wait - so did was the ship sabotaged or not? First they made an unfounded accusation then claimed it didn't happen but was the Israeli intention at a later date. Since when did we begin convicting people of things they could be doing at a later date....maybe? Sounds like a weird sci-fi movie from the early 2000s starring Tom Cruise.
12. Good Riddance
DavidM ,   USA   (07.07.11)
The flotilla people are finally ending their publicity cruise to the Greek Isles curtesy of the Greek Coast Guard. If they were sincere about assisting the downtrodden they would set sail for Libya, Syria, or North Korea. Of course there is no chance of that. They are only interested in inciting against the Jewish people. No surprise there.
13. Yeah, go back home and add to your Nordic suicide statistics
Yaniv ,   Israel   (07.07.11)
14. Why go home? Activists are badly needed in Syria.
Yaniv ,   Israel   (07.07.11)
Or perhaps they are cowards and only bully Jews who won't slaughter or torture them.
15. Such a fiasco
Kostas ,   New York USA   (07.07.11)
Shalom, first off, you're welcome #10 Actually some of those boats were in very bad shape. I'm surprised they were able to float and they looked like they were bought from junkyards, and they were way crowded. Those "activists" should thank Greece for saving their lives since they would have capsized in open sea. Greek people today are more concerned with their own problems, they need not worry about some imaginary humanitarian crisis. Bottom line is, we did not want an international incident originating from our ports with our blessing. The claims for bribery and pressure by Israel are pure fiction.
16. @sarah b., no.9
celine woland ,   austria   (07.07.11)
it reminds me how the arabs who were badly beaten in the 6 -day- war of 1967 still claimed a great victory. :) I wish the flotilla "activists" more happy contributions like this one.
17. "Audacity of Dopes"
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (07.07.11)
18. They bought the ships in the scrap yard!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (07.07.11)
On your next visit please make sure that bare wounds you have received from protesting in countries like Syria, Libya, Myanmar, China (don't forget the brutalization of Tibet and the Uighur (Muslim) People), Sudan, Zimbabwe, DR Congo and so many other other countries where "real" human rights atrocities are being committed while you sunbathe in the splendor of the Greek sun! Also, don't forget your swimwear so you can swim in the Crazy Waterpark in Gaza and bring your credit cards so you can buy the luxury items that don't exist according to Hamas, a lie that that has been exposed by Egyptian journalist Ashraf Abu al-Houl. It is quite obvious that you are NOT Peace activists and couldn't care squat about the real cruelty in the world but only vicious Antisemites who are enraged that the Jews left over from the Holocaust and pogroms have the nerve to exist and defend themselves. Maybe the "next" time you come you will not face the Israeli Government or the IDF but the people of Israel! Just try to take us on!
19. to yaniv
celine woland   (07.07.11)
activists are mostly elderly comfortable people, for them it is a kind of sports and time-passing.. "hey, lets get on a boat and harass israel", knowing that israel wont hurt them unless they attack
20. It's over.. Score is Israel;10, Floptilla ZERO.
Eran ,   Singapore   (07.07.11)
Kol Hakavod Israel. You get full marks, with the help of sane people, The Greeks, Cypriots and others.
21. Sarah
Cameron ,   USA   (07.07.11)
Sarah, I can hear you snorting with satisfaction over this seaborne farce.
22. "Raising awareness"
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (07.07.11)
My awareness was raised...by the fact that these socalled "freedom fighters" are really adults feeling entitled, never grown up, like little children and spoiled thinking whatever they want they have an inalienable "right" to get. I think they raised "awareness" in the eyes of the people of the western nations but not the kind of awareness they had hoped to generate.
23. Gotta love the Greeks!
Howard ,   USA   (07.07.11)
Nice to see that at least some countries still have the will and resolve to do the right thing,
24. Y'all come back now, ya hear?
Stephen in New York   (07.07.11)
25. If all these would be pirates had a job,
Pierre   (07.07.11)
They wouldn't be playimg " Captain Cook, the one legged pirate " Les putain de France, the whores of the US, the Swedes. the Norwegian, and assorted others, have decided to call it quit and return home; tired, deflated, broke, with tails between their legs. These would be 'Jean Lafitte ' corsaire have not walked the plank, but have fallen flat on on their faces
26. Perfect title for this damn foolish mess, #17
Cameron ,   USA   (07.07.11)
The flotilla that just couldn't pull it together.
27. Y’all come back now, ya hear?
Stephen in New York   (07.07.11)
28. flotilla
andys ,   cyprus   (07.07.11)
wish you all activist happy holidays in hellas
29. Floptilla! Took Greeks to teach these Hooligans sense!
Sons Of Cyrus   (07.07.11)
Well done Greece! There is hope for this world yet, to make the right decisions by the people who are in a position to make a difference for the good of all! Good for these trouble makers to ensure their safty, before they get themselves hurt like last time and hurting Israeli soldiers who are only doing their duty. Good to show the world such behaviour will not be tolerated any more. Good for Israel so that it will not have to forcibly stop these characters and get bad publiciy due to twisting of facts. Good for the Greeks in term of mutual cooperation with an advanced culture such as the Israeli culture and the tourism that it will bring to their beautiful country with a rich and ancient history and good food.
