1. GOOD CALL BY THE JUDGE
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (07.10.11)
The Judge was correct, the investigation was flawed and in the ways expressed by the judge. Also it should be noted that since the proper chain of handling evidence was NOT followed. It could mean two things, that the Israeli police were covering up their involvement or the Palestinians were fabricating another story. We know that the Palestinians fake, stage and fabricate stories all the time, and there is an abundance of evidence to prove it. Sadly, the police in every country will many times try to cover up things to protect themselves and their police department and reputation. So Israel certainly isn't alone there! But it's always better to do it right, and let the chips fall where they may. While this is sad and tragic, it will happen again because the Palestinians send their kids into riots intentionally, playing a cynical form of PR Russian Roulette. Trying to vilify Israel. Evey year the Palestinians kill their kids, when rockets go astray and land back in Gaza. But we don't hear much about that. It only matters when Israel is involved and can possibly be blamed.
2. Two tier justice
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor, UK   (07.10.11)
In August last year Jerusalem district court judge Orit Efal-Gabai in a civil suit brought by Abir's parents, ruled: "Abir and her friends were walking down a street, where there were no rock-throwers, therefore there was no reason to shoot in their direction.... It is clear that Abir's death, caused by a rubber bullit shot by border guards, was due to negligence..." Abir's parents had brouht the civil suit after an earlier decision not to prosecute the Border Guards. A year after the ruling of the District Court the Supreme Court rejects a petition to put the Border Guards involved in the shooting, on trial. For the parents of Abir it must be as if their daughter is killed again. This is the kind of justice Palestinians can expect in an Israeli court.
3. Ben Alofs / 2
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (07.10.11)
It is sad that this poor little girl had to pay theprice for her peoples actions. Had they not rioted there would have been no reason for a shot to be fired in the first place. As to which direction the border guards were firing, you don't know. Even regular bullets ricochet and this one was made of rubber. I guess it's a pity for the Palestinians that this case couldn't have been tried in Ben Alofs armchair courtroom in Bangor. I think Mark from Georgia got it right in post # 1.
4. how about a trial in gaza for the killing of a child in a sc
rachel ,   usa   (07.10.11)
school bus ? The arabs have to constantly invent Israeli war crimes through PALLYWOOD because they can never find any in real life . This is where b'tselem comes in to help them !( Where do they get their money by the way , we all want to know !)
5. killing a child is WRONG, in case that was a mistake ,then
nice ,   tlv   (07.10.11)
PROPER steps need 2 be taken 2 support the family in PAIN.
6. VERY SAD.
Jewish mother ,   Israel.   (07.10.11)
For any mother or father to lose a child is one of the most terrible, tragic things in life. May g d by with these families.
7. To: No. 2
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.10.11)
Was it the Jews who were rioting? No. So go to hell. The Arabs were responsible. Who in their right minds riot around a school? Or was their plan to see dead children? They don't appear to have much of a problem with dead children. Can you spell "Fogel family?"
8. the supreme court authorized the murder fo palestinian child
Nurit Peled-Elhanan ,   JERUSALEM   (07.11.11)
Abir's father was jailed for 7 years after failing to attack an Israeli army jeep with an old grenade. The murderers of his child will never be punished. "Thou shall not murder" is no more applicable to ISraeli soldiers.
9. to nr. 6.
justice for all ,   world/planet earth   (07.11.11)
i totally agree with you. this is the only right answer in this case.
10. #8:Nurit, HOW SELECTIVE OF YOU
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (07.11.11)
Were you as upset when Hamas intentionally targeted a school-bus killing a 15 year old kid? Or, is your concerned only voiced when Israel "may"...I use this word intentionally, since nothing has been proven...have accidentally killed a child in a riot situation? What worse, the Palestinian's targeting of civilians quite intentionally, and repeatedly, or the once in a while accidental death of an Arab kid, by the Israeli's? Who, BTW, do everything possible to avoid these tragedies from happening. Or The Palestinians who do everything they can, to kill civilians (including children) on purpose? Your selective outrage, is let us say, interesting? To be kind, there is of course another obvious reason for your selective outrage, isn't there?
