1. "Jewish" Star
Michael ,   California, USA   (07.14.11)
What if Rod Stuart decided to participate claiming he is "Jewish," or Madonna? What if I decided to participate claiming my Jewish roots are Cultural and Israeli, nothing to do with race, genes and other thrash like this? Certainly, I would hope my participation will not lead to major heartbreaks among the Orthodox Jews.
2. Interesting...
ML ,   Canada   (07.14.11)
Nice initiative in theory....After watching many of the videos on FB, I can safely conclude that some of the contestants are truly talented and others are simply there so that the organizers can say they have people from 20 or so countries. Wonder who the 'judges' were.
3. good job guys, important project!
john ,   new york   (07.14.11)
4. "Jewish" Star (#1) -- overthinking it
Serge ,   Montreal, Canada   (07.14.11)
What if aliens proved to be better singers than humans? What if I threw a party and noone came? You are overthinking things (and in sort of a silly way -- of course this is not some sort of ultra-religious contest: the Rimon School is involved and there are women singers!). I am sure that, if someone who was a fantastic singer became deeply determined to defraud the context in some way, they would no doubt find a way to do it and to maintain the charade. And, really, who cares? The stakes are not so high as to motivate anyone to do so.
5. #1 Why?
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (07.14.11)
Why must you put down a music contest for Jewish young people? Are you also on Christian web sites criticizing their youth events? Or do you just get your jollies from being the "Tokyo Rose of Ynet" criticizing Jews and Israel every day to demoralize us?
6. Michael @ 1, why would you even ask. Go ahead, become a star
leo ,   usa   (07.14.11)
7. #5 Sue,Separate religion & State in Israel and I'll shut up.
Michael ,   California, USA   (07.15.11)
8. #1 State and Religon
Adam ,   Jerusalem   (07.15.11)
Michael, I could be wrong but i dont think Sue has the power to separate state and religion in Israel. Looks like your be gonna talking for a while longer. Plus, Israel is the Jewish state/state for the Jews so it seems that state and religion are as connected here as hate for Jews and you are.
9. 5 Sue If Michael was instead of...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (07.15.11)
continuously criticizing the orthodox way of life, building his own life,he could be a success.
10. 7Michael If we want to advance in life...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (07.15.11)
we d better NOT WAIT till others change.
11. Great, but...
Ayeush ,   Gibraltar   (07.15.11)
How come no one is thinking of asking the internationally known and famous singer and song writer, producer of many famous singers, and DJ Mixer whose personal presence gives great legitimacy to any Party; I am talking about David Guetta who as a Moroccan Jew will be happy to officiate the " Jewish Eurovision".
12. #8 Adam, Culture is a bigger connection than religion.
Michael ,   California, USA   (07.15.11)
Connection to culture is a connection to history and historically speaking Jewish religion was very important to sustaining the people. But those times have passed. Jews today survive without religion, like me for instance. Also, there are different nuances of religion and a lot of disagreements among the different sects. The State of Israel is an entity on its own, a secular entity, in which religious and secular parts must coexist. I have nothing against religious people doing their part for themselves, and seculars their part, without infringing on each other. The connection is through culture of the two parts, through their common history, not through religion. The singing contest, the Jewish Eurovision, ought to be tied to Jewish culture, like to songs in Yiddish and Laddino for instance, or to Moroccan Jewish songs and music. Then it will make some sense and serve a purpose in consolidating people.
13. I would second you Ayeush but>>>

>>David Guetta is unoriginal as well as uninspiring. Most of the stuff he makes is just BIG CHEESE. Then again, so is most of this Jewish Star nonsense.
