1. IsraAid sends aid to South Sudan
Albert L. ,   Malaysia   (07.14.11)
Israel is doing the right thing . Not only you help a new country in needs to stand on its own feet eventually . But most of all you can have a Christian friend who will give you his shoulder , instead of the many muslim countries who are at your throat
2. Israel should be sending that aid to Palestine instead
Johnathan ,   Vancouver, Canada   (07.14.11)
They have a a neighbor right beside them that doesn't even have electricity. Clean your own mess first then clean others.
3. Christian world should make sure S. Sudan is a success
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (07.14.11)
Christians in south sudan were persecuted for a long time by muslims, while the christian west looked the other way. It's time to help the south rebuild and be successful.
4. Help to South Sudan
Clap Hammer ,   Israel   (07.14.11)
Seeing all the people speaking English in South Sudan, may I suggest that English be made the language of education in South Sudan thereby enabling the country to accept a vast amount of good will volunteers who will give their time, perhaps a 'gap year', to assist the country in showing what can be done with an African country.
5. #2 What is this "Palestine"?
John ,   Alaska   (07.15.11)
In 1937, the Arab leader Auni Bey Abdul Hadi told the Peel Commission: "There is no such country as Palestine. Palestine is a term the Zionists invented. Palestine is alien to us." In 1946, Princeton's Arab professor of Middle East history, Philip Hitti, told the Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry: "It's common knowledge, there is no such thing as Palestine in history." The Arabs know there is no such thing as Palestine. What is your response to them?
6. Re #3 Rami is quite right
John ,   Alaska   (07.15.11)
Christians not only in Sudan but throughout the Muslim world endure intense persecution, including being raped or lynched. I urge any concerned people (whether Christians or Jews) to see persecution dot org.
7. Israeli Aid to Palestine?
Michael Shapiro ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (07.15.11)
Israel's mess? You have some nerve ! Clean up the mess of your sworn enemy? You must be kidding... Their rejection of Israel since 1948 is the real source of thePalestinian's own economic undevelopment. All their energy has been and is directed at delegitmizing or destroying Israel. If the Arabs had accepted Israel from the very beginning, the Palestinians would be living today at the same level that Israelis do today! Clean up Israel's mess? Why don't you direct your sanctimonious self rightous criticism of Israel to where it really belongs: The Arab League, Saudia Arabia, Dubai - to all of those "selfless caring poor Arab countries". Grow Up!
8. This is more political than humanitarian
zionist forever   (07.15.11)
Israel was one ofthe first countries to recognie South Sudan not because it gives a damn about if the Sudanese kill each other or not but as a way to start offloading the thousands of refugees who have come here illegally. If South Sudan is a safe place then Israel can justfy sending them all back. The IsraeAID in this case is about making this new country more able to cope when the refugees start being sent home. In international politics nobody does anything for nothing and in this case Israel is looking to offload the Sudaneze refugees and hopes to create more trade oportunities.
9. Re: 8,2
DonnyH ,   Israel   (07.15.11)
8: I agree with you. But this doesn't mean that Israel doesn't want to make more friends in the process. That's part of the reason why Israel strives to be the best at giving international aid. And as proven by the Carmel fire, kindness results in more kindness. 2: "Doesn't even have electricity" You have absolutely NO IDEA how our "pals" live! If you're referring to "Israeli refugees" (who are dubbed Palestinian because they don't recognize Israel), they have UNRAH. They receive so much aid their unemployment rates are actually going up in Aza. If you're implying that Israel should give Fatah and Hamas an independent state outside our doorstep: 1) Despite recent polls showing that our "Pals" hate our guts. 2) Despite the fact that they choose to teach anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism in their kinder gardens (Voted as a condition of the Oslo accords). 3) Despite their refusal recognize Israel's right to exist. 4) Despite the fact that they promote "Martyr-ism" (slaughter of infidels at the expanse of their own well-being). You are seriously misled.
10. More political than humanitarian?
Michael Shapiro ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.15.11)
So what! This is "Realpolitics" (do u know what that means?) It means in reality what's good for you is good for me = A win win situation for all concerned! What's wrong with that? But for the sake of the truth, which hopefully you seek, almost all of the Sudanese interviewed in Israel have expressed there wish to return to their country now that they can live a life free from Muslim terrorism and persecution. But then again, for you to say or admit that would not conform to your naive and pathological need for Israel bashing! Why don't you guys direct some of your venom towards Syria, Lybia,Egypt, etc., y'know, those Arab staes in volved in the so called "Arab Spring". More than 16,000 people have been murdered as a result of this. And why not direct some criticism at Turkey and their murderous teatment of the Kurdish minority who live there? Grow Up & Wake Up!
11. #3 What is this Palestine ?
Michael Shapiro ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.15.11)
I don't know where Abdul Hadi got his "information" from, but then again it is historically something to be expected and is typ[ical of the lies and plasphemies made against Israel, Zionism and the Jewish people by Arab Revisionism. To set the record straight, Philip Hitti is correct when he told the Anglo-American Committee that there is no such a thing as "Palestine" in history. The area south of Lebanon to the Sanai desert and from the Med. Sea to the Jordan River was always known as "Judea" - as any and all ancient Roman maps will testify to. The name Palestine appears only later on in Roman history c.134 AD whe emperor Hadrianus. angered at the Jews for their 2nd revolt(The Bar Kochva War), decided to punish the Jews and changed the name of the area of the Land of Israel(Judea) to Palestina. There was however, never any people, state, or government named Palestine even from then on. The name was used to generally designated an area much as the name The Sahara does for a segment of N. Africa. If you don't believe me please see Conrad Peutinger's 15th century ancient maps of the Roman Near East . The truth will indeed set you free !
12. #2 , Jonathan
El ,   Canada   (07.15.11)
First of all Israel sends a load of aid to Gaza every day/week. When Israel was in the west bank and Gaza they added roads and buildings and networks. They leave and the Leaders of both Gaza and West Bank just let the land rot. Israel has tried but it takes two to tango and obviously Hamas and the PA have not Second of all Palestine doesn't exist. It stopped existing when the name was changed to Israel and the land was allocated. Now they are Gazans and those that live in the West Bank, settlers.

14. Israel!, if you have to, then send Evangelicals too

they are the ones that can counter other missionaries.
15. "I make all things new"
Daniel ,   U.K.   (07.16.11)
@,,,#11 Michael You are so correct but what does this have to do with how another human being is treated and what he wants to call himself. Technically speaking, factually speaking the word Jew is a new word, and I am certain it was not found in the ancient writings of the Hebrew language, Philip Hitti who you quote in his writings also addresses the Ibri name Yahud or Judah and Jew, any reference to Judah and what we have ethnically of what is a Jew today are two separate entities due to the filter of time, race mixing and geographical migrations. I am a Jew and Israel is to be applauded for this humanitarian aid to the Sudanese who do have a history in the land of Canaan that has not been so violent as that of a Palestinian and Jewish histories, its sad that we can't do enough for each other and at any given second begin our lives anew.
16. Send the Refugees back
Brian   (07.17.11)
Now that they have independence, the thousands of refugees in TLV can return!
17. Sudanese History in Canaan ?
Michael Shapiro ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.17.11)
Daniel, forgive me if I am confused...but pls do direct me to the source you have for your statement:..."the Sudanese who do have a history in the land of Canaan...". Josephus, Eusebius, Seutonius, Plutarch...the Bible? Who & where?
18. Sudanese History in Canaan
Daniel ,   U.K.   (07.18.11)
@Michael Shapiro Please forgive me, Ynet does censore some talkbacks it appears. But a truthful, diligent and an unbiased search will give you your answers. Again I am sorry, this is not the forum for a "Sudanese History in Canaan" for some reason. With all due respect Mr. Shapiro
19. #5 Whats is this "israel"?
deutronomy 28 ,   world   (07.18.11)

20. To: No. 2
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.18.11)
Israel did not create the mess that is the ersatz "Palestinians." They did that all by themselves. That said, when Israel acquired the West Bank in the course of fighting a defensive war against Jordan, it had one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world. There were almost no paved roads. There was one hospital. There were no medical clinics. There were no universities. There was no sewage system, which resulted in perennial cholera outbreaks which claimed the lives of tens of thousands. Israel fixed all that, and more. Israel brought modern irrigation and agricultural techniques to the West Bank. High-paying jobs in Israel were made available to any West Bank Arab who wanted one. Israel built six universities in the West Bank. Israel built hospitals, and medical clinics, and roads. And how did the ersatz "Palestinians" repay Israeli kindness and generosity? With terror, more terror and still more terror. With two intifadas. With endless violence and suicide bombings. We fixed their mess once. We're not going to do it again. They can wallow in their incredible squalor and figure out ever more exciting and innovative ways to continue being their own worst enemy.
21. To #19 2nd Try
John ,   Alaska   (07.20.11)
Deut 28, remember that the book continues from there. Deut 30:1-7 should be of interest to you. Now that the children of Israel are being called from all the countries where they were scattered, including from the farthest countries under the sky, it would be wise of you to repent of your hatred and mockery of Israel. For Israel's borders, see Genesis 15:18-21. As to Israel's existence, there is enough extrabiblical evidence that this is assured. It's too much to post, I'll let you look it up. As to Moshiach's appearing, He will come to bodily rescue Jewish national Israel when all the countries of the world are amassed against her, and to reestablish a kingdom which will have no end. Malachi 3:1-3 provides a sober warning for those who are impatient for this to come.
22. #8 -- you are wrong
Ari Gold   (07.20.11)
#8 Zionist Forever, You need to learn some history. For decades, Israel provided arms to the South Sudanese rebels in their fight against those Nazis in the North. This was long before the "refugee" problem existed. South Sudan and Israel will have strong economic and military ties for years to come. We are both a persecuted people with a common Arab enemy.
23. #2 - then who is Israel supplying electricity to?
William ,   Israel   (07.20.11)
Over half of Gaza's electricity comes from Israel, including most of its water and petrol. In West Bank, it's the same. Not sure you've even read about the region before you levied your criticism. And besides, South Sudan is a nascent State of people who were brutalized by Muslim hordes for decades. Conversely, the "Palestinians" ARE a Muslim horde and are not our responsibility.
24. #2 - actually, Palestine is YOUR mess
William ,   Israel   (07.20.11)
The minute the West created and continued to fund UNWRA, they created the problems in Palestine. South Sudan has endured a larger magnitude of injuries, deaths, and violent displacements (including rape which "Palestinians" never endured) than the "Palestinians" and still they do not hold the world hostage through terrorism, nor beg the world for perpetual welfare checks, and are years ahead of "palestinians" in preparedness and willingness for a State.
25. #19 - Go check out 3000 years of history and return
William ,   Israel   (07.20.11)
Please don't embarrass yourself by admitting that you have no idea how to enter a Google search.
26. #19, actually we are not waiting for Messiah
Jake   (07.20.11)
We are taking matters into our own hands and when the Messiah arrives, he will have a brilliant country to lead into the future. The days of Jews wandering the Earth depending on others for help are over.
