1. undemocratic law
ian ,   Israel   (07.13.11)
Lieberman and Netanyahu will see to it that Israel is totally ostracised from the international community by introducing nefarious and unconstitutional laws. Don't complain about the boomerang which will surely come.
2. Make aliyah, join the Army and then you will have a voice
David ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.13.11)
till then.... shhhhh
3. They probably didn't even read the law.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (07.13.11)
A knee-jerk reaction from the politically correct Jewish-American leadership. And, you can bet your life, their opinions are based on the biased lefty Israeli media reports. American Jews should worry more about the inroads radical anti-Israel Leftist Jews are making within their own organizations. This law is in reality an anti-discrimination law, it's aim is to prevent discrimination against a segment of the Israeli population that is subject to many attempts at demonization.
4. Our American Jews
Tor Gnon ,   Chumi Chumi, WA   (07.13.11)
Who are these people that Ynet calls so "candidly" dovish groups? Methinks they are only alive because of their foolish self-denial. Anyone, jew or gentile, that fails to apprehend the BDS for it is and refuses to fight back with all the means at our disposal deserves no consideration in this forum. Should the High Court Of Justice quash this legislation, we will continue exploring all other avenues to fight back and eliminate our enemies. Shallom.
5. American Jews
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (07.13.11)
B"H Did they jump up from their confy, obama-voting chairs when our rabbis were arrested for their halachic opinion? So pleeeeease, let it rest.
6. Boycott Law
ger ,   raanana, Israel   (07.13.11)
The Knesset should have passed a law denying State funds to any Israeli organization which promotes a boycott against Israeli products or services. Having said that, I believe many Jews living in America would be upset about anything this Government would do.
7. I believe every country has the right to protect its economy
Deebo_ ,   Holon   (07.13.11)
Boycotting something on the simple grounds that they are Israeli is unfair and does not accomplish anything but hurt businesses with no connection to the political decisions which invoked the boycotts in the first place. Boycotting a businesses based on the decision of that business being boycotted is an acceptable expression. Every country has a right to protect its economy and its population. It's the same reason Canada has a Canadian content law on the radio.
8. Anti-discrimination
Joshua ,   Israel   (07.13.11)
The law is protecting citizens who are constantly under attack, demonized mostly on false grounds. The US Jews have 0 effect on Israel today, and this is symbolized by the first successful instance of an Israeli PM standing up to a US president. Wake up USA, your opinions when so far left (as to risk Israel's right to defence) no longer seem reasonable here in Israel. Once the left would rise up here, but now the left is like 800 people somewhere in Ramat Aviv (as well as the editors/writers in ynet/yediot ahronot)... Time for an investigation of Israeli media like the British are finally doing (and the US should be as well).
9. RE#2
Alex ,   SF, CA   (07.13.11)
We do have a voice, since we provide you with millions of dollars. You are the one who should be quiet.
10. Who cares about Americans?
(07.13.11)
11. Until the :Jews of America"
Julie ,   Israel   (07.13.11)
are willing to give up the safe and cushy life they live on the other side of the planet, and actually make Aliyah and be a part of this Jewish nation, then they should keep their opinions to themselves as our lives here, are none of their business. Many of us who actually live in Israel are getting mighty tired of what they, over there, think. Get out of your armchairs and come on over. Otherwise...shut up.
12. "Persecuting unpopular opinions"
Logic ,   Israel   (07.13.11)
I think this is not a good law, but persecuting unpopular opinions was the name of the game during the Oslo process. All those who warned about the calamity of bringing back the PLO and giving them guns were considered enemies of peace who needed to be quiet. Therefore, "persecuting unpopular opinions" is ironic indeed.
13. ADOPT ONCE AND FOR EVER AN UNEQUIVOCAL POSITION ....
FO ,   Belgium   (07.13.11)
Decide once and forever, and in an unequivocal way about the question: is Israel's presence in the so-called "occupied territories" in violation of International Law, or is Israel's presence in the "territories" consistent with International Law. The answer should be UNEQUIVOCAL ! As you all know, I suppose, the cornerstone for diplomacy in the Middle-East is UN Resolution 242. The author of this resolution was Prof. Eugene Rostow, Dean of the School of Law in Yale. He formulated in this resolution an Israeli withdrawal "from territories", and not "from THE territories", in case of a peace agreement. What was the reason of this formulation? I don't intend to hold here a lecture about this subject, but I would suggest to all of you, readers, for a start, to read articles written by Prof. Rostow about this subject, and especially "The Future of Palestine", a real MUST.
14. American Jews rally against boycott law
Andy ,   Amsterdam   (07.13.11)
Great article, just nowhere does it explain what the problem is. After reading it I'm non the wiser what its about!!
15. #9
David ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.13.11)
Keep you money. It represents less than 1% of our GDP... keep that and your ARAB president. Ssssshhhh
16. #9
Ram ,   London   (07.13.11)
When you find yourself persecuted where will you run to? Support Israel quietly, after all it is for your own good you are doing it.
17. In addition to my talkback # 13
FO ,   Belgium   (07.13.11)
The mentioned articles from Prof. Eugene Rostow, author of UN Resolution 242 are available On INTERNET.
18. FO #13
David ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.13.11)
JORDAN=PALESTINE Dont like it... TOUGH!!!
19. As always...
Jonathan   (07.13.11)
The media creates news. It's an important law... at an important time... And no, not all the American jews are united against 'Israel', ynet.
20. As always Excellent talkback Terry!
Israeli 2   (07.13.11)
It is either the winds of sanity and logic that blows into Israel's direction, or the Wind of Spirit (Ruach Hakodesh). Either way, the left and cowardly, traitorous leftist ideas must go because Israel must survive.
21. Julie how ungreatfull of you
Anton ,   istanbul turkey   (07.13.11)
İts the american jews that protects your behind in every occaison just for a moment think what would happen to israel if they didint influence usa and let you alone with arabs ithats whats gonna happen eventually but for now you need them stay in usa more than having them in israel typical israeli reaction never chnages, so easily forgets the hand feeds them :)
22. To#3
Ehud ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.13.11)
"The segment of the population "you allude to is the settlement population.I sure dont support all the settlements and will not buy their products, this is my protest and nobody can stop me.Boycotting is a perfectly legitimate political tool, especially economic boycotting as everybody seens to understand it.
23. Autocritic needed for american Jews
Raphael ,   Netanya   (07.13.11)
The american hate industry is thriving thanks to a bloated concept of freedom of expression, which allows insults, racial slur, defamation, murder incitement.
24. Who cares about Americans?
Glen ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (07.13.11)
I'm not American, but just point out where this country might have been without America. Every ambulance, most of the expensive hospital equipment, museums, all courtesy of American donations, not to mention the superior defense weaponry paid for by donations or loans from America. Talk about ungrateful arrogance.
25. We US Jews don't live in Israel
Bad assed Jew. ,   United States   (07.13.11)
yet, I fully support Israel and her right to self determination. In the US we live peacefully, Israel does not. We have not been subject to terror since our beginnings that last to the present day, as has Israel. Israel is unique and her needs for security are paramount or, there is no Israel. America wouldn't put up with this nonsense unabated either.. And just think of how Iran, Russian etc. would respond, the demonstrators would be dead.
26. How about US Jews move to Israel?
Bad assed Jew. ,   United States   (07.13.11)
and become Israeli citizens and the complain if they still feel the same? Non citizen complaints are as empty as a used milk carton... US Jews don't live or vote in Israel. I fully support Israel's right to self determination and self rule.
27. to #9 Alex
Arn ,   yehud, Israel   (07.13.11)
What gross arrogance! I don't thing there was ever a backside that asked for so much kissing as yours. And the fact is, fella, that if any country is in the begging business your own bankrupt USA heads the list. Fort Knox is now run by China. And your dollar is pretty worthless these days, no?
28. To # 24
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (07.13.11)
I also am not American and agree 100% with what you say. Many of the stupid anti American sentiments expressed here are due not only to arrogance but to astounding ignorance. Some seem to think that Israel is the super power!!!
29. Reply # 5 Ariel " Our Rabbis?"
Haim ,   TA   (07.13.11)
First of all let me clarify the law for you. Incitment to murder is an offense in Israel. You seem to be under the illusion that Israel is a state run according to religious rule. Just imagine if they were saying its ok to kill jewish children in Euorpe , you and your ilk would be screaming anitsemitism from the rooftops, your hypocracy knows no limits.
30. Terry - No. 3
Faith ,   Israel   (07.13.11)
I think you gave an excellent explanation of why we need this law in Israel now, during these anti-Israel times we live in. I will borrow it if you don't mind, in order to explain to others who are against it. Thanks.
