1. Foreign media banned and the impotent UN does nothing. Where
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (07.15.11)
is Goldstone and his ilk to write reports or is that only done against Jews and not killer arabs?
2. WHAT I DON'T HEAR IS.....
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (07.15.11)
I see, hear and read about all the protests. All the people killed and arrested, tortured and abused. But what I've never seen, is the endgame. Let's assume the protesters get what they want, Assad out (which I doubt personally speaking). What replaces him? Does democracy magically appear and they all live happy ever after. What fantasy is that? Will it just be another military dictatorship? Who is waiting in the wings to take over. Did they ever think about that? Without Assad what do have, chaos? What will stop roving gangs of criminals from robbing, stealing, raping and basically taking over the country. You need an army or a strong police force to keep order. Right now the only people who can do that work for Assad. I just don't get it?
3. to nr. 1.
sjoerd ruurd.... ,   world/planet earth   (07.15.11)
it is easy to critize/to bash the un without giving an alternative. why is the un such a weak organization with limited possibilities? we all know the answer and especially the us-politicians since 1945.
4. to nr. 2.
sjoerd ruurd.... ,   world/planet earth   (07.15.11)
you/we need intelligent people in syria and everywhere perhaps to get a better world.
5. #2Mark from GA:: OMELETTES AND EGGS
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (07.15.11)
It may not be appropriate, but I think that Lenin said that you cannot make omelettes without cracking eggs. Mark could well be right that there is no orderly means of transition to a better situation in Syria and the interim might be horrible. But not to seek better because of grim reaction is a counsel of despair. This is a case of the people finding their voices and speaking. They're fed up. Until I see reasons to take a contrary view,I support the Syrian protesters. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
6. WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR THE MORON TO STEP DOWN?
david ,   Atlanta   (07.15.11)
THIS GUY IS SO moronic, myopic, narrow and so stupid that he can't see the writing on the wall....which is written in letters six feet tall and a hundred feet wide. STEP DOWN! STEP DOWN! STEP DOWN!
7. #2 + #5, The Assad regime is Israels
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (07.15.11)
worst enemy and if it loses, Israel wins and if Syria will be destabilized for a long time to come, it only upgrades Israels strategic position...I personally don't give a dime for Syria...
8. #5; Ian, WE AGREE
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (07.15.11)
I never said that ("not to seek better because of grim reaction is a counsel of despair.") though did Ian? I asked a simple question, what waits in the wings to take power. You seem to think the same as me. it won't be pretty, right?
9. More proof that "human rights" NGOs are biased
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (07.15.11)
With all the massive energy that NGOs put in to roasting Israel on a spit, you have to question their legitimacy. Some of the worst human rights abuses in the Middle East are occurring this year in Arab countries, yet compared to how they attack Israel, the NGOs are putting almost no effort or energy into protecting the human rights of these non-Palestinian Arabs. Orwell was right. All Arabs are equal, but Palestinian Arabs are more equal than all other human beings. What a sad indictment of the corrupted ideologies of these NGOs that are supposed to support universal human rights.
10. I am eating way too much popcorn of late..
Al   (07.16.11)
Its time to switch to another movie treat. Every Friday for the past several months I having been waiting for the latest stats. They never seem to disapoint...Inshala.
11. I'm still marveling ...
John ,   Alaska   (07.16.11)
at the flotilla people supporting Gaza last year and who decided this year they're supporting Assad. They must like siding with murderers, since they supported Gazan murderers last year and murderous Assad this year.
12. Nothing like movie popcorn.
Ypip ,   Canada   (07.16.11)
At least we have air conditioning with surround-sound.
