3. Total garbage.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (07.16.11)
Nothing but a feeble & very transparant attempt to STOP Israel from contemplating a strike. Disinformation, & the CIA must be one of the worst spy operations on Earth.
4. JUST RUMOURS ,NO TRUTH TO THEM
LAWRENCE ,   Zefat (Safed)   (07.16.11)
Mere speculation from another "expert ."

6. You have been warned, don't do it.
Robert ,   Brisbane, Australia   (07.16.11)
" I think we are looking into the abyss," he said. He's right. Iran also has the means to strike back at Israel and you can be sure there would be a severe retaliation.
7. More hot air? Any proof?
Bad assed Jew. ,   United States   (07.16.11)
Who is this man that he can see into Israel's future? Maybe he should advise Obama of his chances of failure in the next election? If it were true, why warn Iran by making such public statements? This man is more than suspect to me.
8. Robert Baer is an alarmist
Brod ,   USA   (07.16.11)
Robert Baer is an alarmist and an idiot. What is his purpose of spilling the beans? Does he want the fanatical Ayatollahs to have nukes so they can dominate the Middle East and effect a nuke Holocaust on Israel and other countries like Europe and America's bases in the region? Is Baer cozy with Iran that he is trying to sound the bell on them?
9. How do you get noticed in this world? You bullshit about
tom ,   tel aviv   (07.16.11)
Israel& Middle East or come up with another "Peace Plan" or... deny the Holocaust or predict Euro'sdemise or Dollars fall or ......... Should we comment? I don't think so.
10. NEVER AGAIN. IS THAT SIMPLE.
STEPHAN ,   YAFFO   (07.16.11)
11. Baer is a disgusting wimp and a coward,
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (07.16.11)
as he knows pretty well, that Iran MUST be attacked in order to prevent it from going nuclear...with men like him in the service of the CIA, it is for sure that the mullahs will always be handled with silk gloves from the American side...MOST DISGUSTING...!!!!
12. attack on Iran
Ronald ,   Hemel Hempstead UK   (07.16.11)
I think this is propaganda to jolt the iranians, and make them insecure, If there was a move on Iran, the last thing to do is to warn everyone publicly through the net or major tabloids, The best thing , and what will probably happen will be a change in government , even if an attack succeeded, the price would be to expensive, in life and property , Iran will just retaliate, I doubt if they will be quiet and swallow the skirmish, ......and eventually later build a new reactor
13. A plausible view but not practicable
john ,   cardiff   (07.16.11)
I am not as intelligent as the writer or as the ex-chief of Mossad but such an action will bring disastrous results for the whole region including Israel and USA. Iranian people can go for a war for a prolonged and consistent period as shown in the case of iran-iraq war. Can Israel afford a suicidal mission!!
14. Defending Israel from Holocaust
Brod ,   USA   (07.16.11)
Nukes in the hands of fanatical Islamist-Jihadist Ayatollahs are a thousand times worst than the Holocaust, It will be mega Holocaust. Israel should not just be focusing on its eastern direction in defending itself. The Ayatollahs' tentacle called Hezbollahtan with its long range rockets will also be attacking Israel. Hence, Israel should peempt its enemies on the North.
15. Mutual Assured Destruction doctrine and Iran
Mladen Andrijasevic, ,   Be'er Sheva, Israel   (07.16.11)
For years the leading western scholar of Islam Prof Bernard Lewis has been warning that the mutual assured destruction doctrine will not work with Iran. Just recently, in the documentary Iranium he said : “What makes this particularly alarming is the whole question of nuclear weapons. During the Cold War both the United States and the Soviet Union had nuclear weapons. That they did not use them, and they knew that we are not going to use them, because of what we used to call at that time MAD – Mutual Assured Destruction. Each side knew that if they used nuclear weapons the others would respond in kind and this would obliterate everybody. With these people, with their apocalyptic mindset, mutual assured destruction is not a deterrent, it is an inducement “ Reza Kahlili, the CIA agent who for 10 years risked his life working under cover as a member of the Iranian Republican Guards, said: “Once they get the nuclear bomb, and they have the nuclear capability, and anybody can determine this because they are running multiple convert operations, parallel projects of nuclear bomb and missile delivery systems. It is a parallel project for one purpose, and I can argue both sides of the coin, but my belief is that .this is a messianic regime, there should be no doubts, they will commit the most horrendous suicide bombing in human history. They will attack Israel, European capitals and Persian Gulf region at the same time, then they will hide in a bunker waiting for the Mahdi to get out of that well, ride the white horse, draw that sword and kill the rest of the nonbelievers.” Israel will soon have a four tier missile defense system consisting of Arrow3, Arrow 2, David’s Sling and Iron Dome, protecting Israel from the Iran launched missiles to ones launched from the Gaza strip. But even this sophisticated system is not perfect and it is obvious that MAD is dead. Israel is not the US, and would not survive if even one bomb launched by the undeterred by MAD Iranians penetrates the Israeli defenses. This leads us to the inevitable conclusion that Israel will have to destroy with a preemptive strike the Iranian nuclear facilities. Stuxnet gave Israel some time. It is now running out.
16. What do you do with a virus that keeps spreading?
Eyal ,   USA/ISRAEL   (07.16.11)
1. Do you let it spread to other peoples and nations? or 2. Do you try to talk to the viruses and ask them to stop, although it is impossible for a virus to stop? or 3. Do you find a cure that kills the root of the viruses and the already spread viruses, so it doesn't spread no more? Time for talks ran its last course. The UN tried and failed miserably again. With a track record 0 to 20 and the killings of so many Jews throughout the centuries, do you really think Israel will sit idle this time and hope for the best, trust the world? Whatever happens, don't say Israel didn't warn you. BTW, never again!

18. What in the Hell is wrong with
July 16 2011   (07.16.11)
that ex-CIA "chief" when he is allowed to blab off his big mouth about Israel planning a strike on Iran this September. is that guy sick up top and could that be the reason he is an EX? Given half a chan ce, I'd blow that guy away without even having to think about it. What a worthless nincompoop. Does America have many of them besides the bummer?
19. Well now if Iran
Noname   (07.16.11)
does have the BIG ONE let's hope Israel will strike whilst the rod is hot. at the same time, Obummer and his boys better be ready to chip in. Do not fight for America, Israel, Obummer must learn how to fight for themselves!
20. If Israel were to strike Iran, it would have done it already
usa   (07.16.11)
Israel not dumb to fall into this western trap. I still believe what Ariel Sharon said on Iran. It is the world's problem, not only Israel and why should tiney Israel do the heavy lifting on this. Besides, CIA and Iran are cooperating, everybody knows this.
21. Netenyahu would only be helping America...
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (07.16.11)
get off it's fat, lazy bum and start conducting itself as a world power and not the third world backwater it has become under screwball Obama. Bibi would become the darling of the free world, while more or less finishing off Obama's re-election bid, as he would be perceived as being weaker than the clown Jimmy Carter.
22. saying the obvious and making a drama of it
Yael Schlichting ,   Raubling - Germany   (07.16.11)
It is too clear, that all sides are doing »scenario planing« and this includes particluar points of time. There are questions that need to be answered: Can any Israely government take the responsibility of letting an Inranian nuclear strike become inevitable? (I mean, everything looks like it will be inevitable once the Iranians have the bomb.) Or is it easier to take responsibility for iranian rockets targeting Israel with conventional or chemical warheads. The problem is, that Iran recently testet to hit a single target firing 14 rockets at it. This must be understood as a test to hit a target bypassing an effective missile defense system. You cannot go through the rain, without becoming wet. What would happen, if Iran would put the Israeli missile defense on the test and first fire some 500 of it's older Shahab models at Israel and then, after a few days it would fire twenty nukes? The real question is, if we have asked all questions. At present it really looks as if there was no other way but bombing Iran back into the stone age. It will not be enough to annihilate its nuclear capabilities. At the end, this means, Israel cannot perform such a strike without full consent with the U.S. We need to join forces and lead a massive and unprecedented strike to knock out Irans nuclear capabilities, as well as most of its missiles and its commands.
23. ISRAEL NEVER SAID ANYTHING
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (07.16.11)
You have to look at the source of this info, first what show was it on, Ian Masters who hosted what? "On September 18, 2007 Masters moderated a discussion billed as The Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy with John J. Mearscheimer and Stephen M. Walt" Two guys who spend their lives attacking Israel. Robert Baer is an interesting guy who spent 21 years in the CIA, who once stated: "Baer was asked if he believed "that there was an aspect of 'inside job' to the September 11, 2001 attacks within the U.S. government". He replied, "There is that possibility, the evidence points at it." He later retracted that statement, sort of, but you have to wonder how after all he has seen, affects or jades his outlook on life. I've never liked anybody who speak for Israel. Israel isn't saying they will attack Iran, but a ex-CIA agent who is now writing books that are made into movies, like "Syriana" with George Clooney. Israel can speak for itself, and remember Israel hasn't said this, an American did. So why it's being reported as a fact, seems over the top.
24. Wrong Priorities Mr Baer
Neil Turner ,   Watford, UK   (07.16.11)
Mr Baer If the USA "doesn't have enough troops in the Middle East to fight a war like that" then I suggest that you have got your priorities wrong. Iran is the greatest threat to the West. I'm praying that Israel triumphs over this eveil regime
25. US Lapdoging?
Mark T ,   Princeton, NJ   (07.16.11)
Exactly why should the United States be prompted to want to engage in what would likely be a limited nuclear exchange between two or more regional powers (Israel & Iran). Both nation states, have nuclear weapons and regional launch capabilities. The Iranians have military/resource/economic ties to both Russia and China - which puts the US in a very untennable situation economically. So why not simply back down from the cold-war rhetoric, and work with moderates in the Iranian government? Or maybe Tehran and Tel Aviv need to be open mass-graves for the two nation states to see the cold logic of my observation. It defames and violates the sanctity your society has placed on the peculiar views held by your so very coddled and pampered racists. Personally, the United States has more pressing problems what whatever the hell you seem to be pre-occupied with. So make nice with your neighbors and don't cause too much trouble, if that's too much of a burden to bear - perhaps your time would be better spend making friends with the Chinese , Germans or French?

however Israel has All To Gain by sitting quiet, iran has been Saber Rattling, Make Flat Out Threats For How Long? Ask bashar about his Secret n.korean/iranian nuc plant? Shbat Shalom
27. Israel attack on Iran
Syd Chaden ,   Palermo Calif. USA   (07.16.11)
If Israel or the US was to attack Iran, Iran would immediately block the Straits of Hormuz, choking off oil shipments to the West, Asia, and the US. Rather than let that happen, an Obama-led US would probably attack Israel, to prevent a strike on Iran. Like it or not, in a world that really doesn't care if Israel is destroyed or not, Israel's strategy has to be retaliatory, and in spite of the US, not with the support of the US.
28. Mutual Assured Destruction Defense
John Cone ,   USA   (07.16.11)
I'm not going to speculate about any possible attack on Iran by Israel or if it's the right thing to do at this point, but there does come a point when an attack may be too late in the process of their development of nuclear weapons, and if the attack occurred after that point it becomes counterproductive and a losing proposition. In my opinion Israel as a policy should develop a policy of mutually assured destruction just like other countries. Those countries who are at odds with Israel now have no fear of Israel and seek to harm Israel both militarily, economically, and politically. Israel is not a Third World country but a highly technical and militarily advanced country. Israel has the power to develop both a technical a.k.a. cyber warfare, and a military based deterrence. Israel in my opinion should be prepared to use such a policy in the event that she is threatened with her existence by any country. That threat to existence would include in my opinion threats to blockade, economic starvation, military threats, and diplomatic isolation. The only way my opinion that Israel will survive and be respected as an independent country is for Israel to start acting as independent country instead of a Third World colonial province who is scared of what other countries think and does what is best for other countries instead of what is best for Israel. Israel also in my opinion must start to consider new potential threats from the south and start building up her Army especially armored forces to meet the threat. Israel must force in my opinion force every country that has diplomatic relations with Israel to move their embassy to Jerusalem. Israel should determine what capital she has not the world.
29. funny thing
the mad zionist ,   sf, ca   (07.16.11)
is that iran should be thanking israel. If israel did not take out the osirac reactor in iraq, I ran would have been its first target (because of that long 80's war), then israel. Wheres the gratitude iran? And if israel somehow stops this regime from developing nukes than saudi arabia better show some gratuity, but that won't happen either. God it seems like israel is the good super power in this world today. Everyone else would just sit back and then secretly jump up and down when israel successfully does it but publicly condemn israel like in 81 osirac attack and 06 syrian attack. Thank god for israel
30. Israel can do anything it wants, by itself...
seadog1946 ,   Arthur Kill, NJ   (07.16.11)
so long as it doesn't increase 1. the current number of condolence letters that the US comander-in-chief has to sign every month. 2. the current amount of burial ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery. 3. the price/barrel of crude oil.
