Eli ,   Israel   (07.20.11)
The rabbis are correct. Jews and others, who do not accept the absurd and severely restrictive interpretations of what is allowed on Shabat, are annoying to the Haredim, and have cause them to react, violently and allowing them to let off steam as an escape from their pressured existences. The Haredim wish to have their interpretations be the only legitimate ones. Until the Jewish people realizes that there are multiple interpretations (such as eating a chicken with butter; ever try to "milk" a chicken?) possible of the biblical commandments, which allow for less absurd and restrictive behavior, then we'll all suffer from the Haridim and their rabbis.
8. 6 Michael Why do you ask so little?
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (07.20.11)
Only Tuesday your Shabbath? The Rabbi might give you also all the other days .
9. Are they for real?
Norman Gellman ,   Rehovot   (07.20.11)
Yes the Sabbath is a day of rest as the Torah demands. The problem is that these people believe that everybody has to celebrate the Sabbath as they demand. They are under the delusion that they are the only ones who know right from wrong. Throwing stones and making a nuisance of themselves does not honor the Sabbath, instead it desecrates the Sabbath. The instigation of these protests is squarely on the heads of the demonstrators. They may have authority within their own enclave but steps have to be taken to prevent them from interfering with others.
10. does anyone ever stop to think that just maybe
(07.20.11)
if we jews were slightly more religious in OUR LAND, ( and if you dont like it then move to the usa) THAT THE MESIAH will finally come? Which is why these Rebbes want people who are JEWS to be JEWISH. Now look it, if you are a JEW, THEN BE A JEW and celebrate the JEWISH traditions/customs in our own land that WE BLED FOR AND DIED FOR
11. ASK all yourselves the questionWHY am I LIVING
(07.20.11)
in ISRAEL? TO BE CHRISTIAN? DRUZE, Muslim, or some other religion which is pagan? Now if all us jews can for a little while try to be more observant than maybe Mossiach will come, which is what the Rebbes WANT! GET IT? GOOD.
12. shabat
andres ,   austria   (07.20.11)
i was an israeli and i left exactly because of wht the haredim are doing to israel. in israel is getting worse and worse, at that level where i prefer to live with arabs
13. AUSTRIA you are a self loathing jew then
(07.20.11)
to go and live in a place as deviod as austria you deserve to get all the non jewishness that is coming to you
14. 12 andres,you prefer to live with..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (07.20.11)
Arabs, because they are getting better and better,or what?
15. Better to live with
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.21.11)
people who don't try to impose their dark ages beliefs on secular and normal Israelis . Let those charidim live as they want , but they have to accept that their "liberty" ends where the liberty of others begins . They are free to move to places that accomodate their "lifestyle" [ if you can call this "life" ] better than in the streets where there is some traffic on Shabbat .
16. To # 2 . Both can go to HELL
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.21.11)
17. 15 Charles. You are right!
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (07.21.11)
Now we need a fair debate to define the limits of the mutual liberties. I read your comments on the religious women which you defended, with a heart ,which is in the right place. Have a fine day,Charles.
18. Ora , # 17 TRY # 4
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.22.11)
As you know , those comments do NOT reflect my views . Hypocrisy ? c'est pour la bonne cause . I'll ALWAYS defend Jews against such "people" , even with arguments contrary to my beliefs . That's me ! Liberties : I'll accept without any problem the closure of streets Shabbat , IN their neighborhoods . But NOT streets OUTSIDE , or streets that are needed .
19. 18 Charles,you know your priorities,
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (07.22.11)
and you are loyal to your people. I appreciate that. Shabat Shalom,Charles.
