63. #8 Maybe that is why she left
Truthseeker ,   USA   (07.19.11)
More and more Israelis are leaving Israel for better and less racist and bigoted countries. Even Germany is finding more and more Israelis heading to their country. The US is also finding more and more Israelis coming here as well. As Israel moves further and further to the right more and more progressive Israelis will turn around and say "adios" to Israel.I don't think that any of them will be homesick
64. #23 You R A Jerk
babawawa ,   new york, usa   (07.19.11)
There's nothing unprecedented about the "wave" of anti-Israeli feeings. It's just in the past, people like you were more honest about it. You don't murder 6 million people by accident. Euro trash will always hate Jews, no matter what the situation. The Arabs just make it more convenient.
65. 23 we laugh at you
izzie irgun ,   usa   (07.19.11)
If you think that those countires are motivated by anything other than anti semitism you don't read history .. and espcially spain which is a competitior for being the jew hating capital of europe. But we don't care. We have lived with the haters for centruies and we survive by ignoring them as best we can. And if everyone is so anti israel how come the EU didin't endorse that palesttinian state you haters all want to see ... its because the only state for palestinians is the state of confusion ... and only the haters, like the iclanders see the vote as meaning anything. When you and the palestinians wake up the day after the un vote, israel will still be there and no fact on the ground will have changed one iota. live with that beause it won't change until israels security demands are met.
66. May that nasty island go to hell and hopefully, it will.
Frank ,   USA   (07.19.11)
67. #43 we know about her. She is no friend of Jews/Israel.
Sam ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (07.19.11)
She is a wayward Jewess who sides with the enemies against her Jewish brethren.
68. Iceland
Pétur Sigurðsson ,   Reykjavík   (07.19.11)
I have not read in my life till tonight such stupid comments. If Israelis have ever wanted an enemy they got one today.
69. Puffins
Pétur Sigurðsson ,   Reykjavík   (07.19.11)
"What can one say about a country whose national dish is the puffin? That totally adorable-looking bird. Only a monster could eat a puffin. " This is just one of the most stupid remarks I've read here. If Israelis and fellow Jews want to be taken seriously by me at least they have to get some facts straight. And this calling yourselves "God's chosen ones" is not entirely respectable towards the rest of us. God does not exist btw.. or else he would have stopped The Holocaust.
70. Israel vs Iceland
Jon Jonsson ,   Iceland   (07.19.11)
Once again, the jew plays the antisemitism card when he's in tight corners! Long live Iceland ;-)
71. Take a cold shower!
Benjamin ,   Island   (07.19.11)
This puppet idiot is just looking for popularity, greetings from Island
72. Ísrael
Andres Adolfsson ,   Reykjavík, Iceland   (07.19.11)
Why should Ms. Dorrit Moussaieff do that? She was not treated well last time she came to Israel. Her Icelandic passport was not good enough, neither her British. She does not live in Israel, but the israelis thought she should carry an Israeli passport. The Israeli state is one big misunder-standing right from the beginning. Their eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth politics is not up to date for a civilised country.
73. Racist much?
Magnus Geir Gudmunds ,   Reykjavik, Iceland   (07.19.11)
I mean come on, we are not entitled to our government policy? I don't know where this author gets his facts from but depicting Iceland as a rogue state only belittles him.
74. Greetings from Iceland
JH ,   Reykjavik   (07.19.11)
Hi I am Icelandic and live in Iceland. Icelandic people are not against Israel or Israel people or with the Palestinian people. Most of us are Christian people and care for all, and care for Israel and Jerusalem. What I find amazing is how these persons (Ron Ben-Yishai ▪ Nahum Barnea ▪ Sever Plocker) can gather so many negative things wich are totally un connected, and print a dirty article like this. To mix some priest who wrote poets about the passion of the Christ 400 years ago ( wich by the way, allmost nobody reads any more, and soooo boring, with Iceland today.... is crazy, and smell of a propaganda. It is this kind of writing that makes war between people. If those journalists would have done their homework, they would have written a total different story. We love Israel, even though we get to many negative reports from there, we love Israel in the Eurovision. So in my mind, this article is a total bullshit and says nothing about what Icelanders think, how they are or what the feel... nothing. I was sad to read this kind of rubbish. So, best regards from Iceland, br JH ps. It is not much we can do to control the volcanos, but sorry for that. But those who write such an article at least have a control of the words they choose.
75. Such vitriol and hatred here in these comments.
Splicelander ,   Reykjavik, Iceland   (07.19.11)
Thankfully I don't judge a whole race or country based on the words of a few uninformed individuals.
76. Racism
Kjartan ,   Reykjavik, Iceland   (07.19.11)
After reading these "talkbacks" I feel somehow unwanted in Israel. Is racism the face of Israel? If thats the face, then how is the heart?
77. SHAME ON TOU
GLAXOR ,   ICELAND   (07.19.11)
I AM NOT AN ICELANDER BUT I LIVE IN THIS COUNTRY AND HERE IS LOT OF PEOPLE THAT LOVE ISRAEL AND ALWAYS BLESS ISRAEL, HOW CAN YOU PEOPLE WITH ALL THE WISDOM THAT GOD GAVE YOU JUGDE THIS COUNTRY EVEN CURSE SOME OF YOU BECOUSE FEW PEOPLE ATTITUDE GOD IS NOT GOING TO CURSE ICELAND BECOUSE SOMEBODY COMENTARY HERE IN ICELAND WE PRAY FOR PEACE IN ISRAEL BY THE WAY JUST TELL ME WHO WAS THE FIRST COUTRY IN 1948 TO RECOGNISSE ISRAEL AS A NATION ELOGIM ADONAY SEES FROM HEAVEN
78. To Birgir, 2 questions
FG   (07.19.11)
Birgir, help me out please (if Ynet lets me, that is. OK, Ynet?! :-) 1. Is it or is it not true that in Reykjavik, Iceland's capital there ARE buildings that are embellished with swastikas, the Nazis' symbol in the form of corrugated iron works attached to balconies, windows etc.? 2. Is it true or not that just last year there was a scandal by a bicycle store owner who put a sheet of paper warning Jews that they are persona non grata in his selling and repair shop? This news even came to Israel and another medium reported on it. So how can you defend your country in the light of all (and the article's content) this, birgir??
79. (55) to Fritz,
tiki ,   belgium   (07.19.11)
One of Gd's 'frozen people. Bankrupt but a good sense of humor. I can laugh about it, because me, one of the 'chosen people, didn't put money in your banks. Keep up the good spirit.
80. (53) Gisli in Reykjavik
tiki ,   belgium   (07.19.11)
Gisly, please inform yourself before you give an 'opinion based on an IMAGE, which is based on Arab propaganda & Jew hatred (you win, not anti semetism). Image is 'make believe, it has nothing to do with the 'truth or facts. Fact is that Israel never 'stole anybodies land. It was always Jewish land (read your bible). Judea & Samaria (W-Bank), that the 'Palestinians claim (Palestinians didn't exist untill Arafat & Carter 'invented them), was 'only in Jordanian hands from 1948-1967 (won by war and throwing out all the Jews from Jerusalem). Jordan itself had to be part of the Jewish state, but was given away by the English illegally. Furthermore Israel doesn't 'buldoze Arab house, it buldozes 'illegally build Arab houses, like they buldoze illegal Israeli houses. Illegal building is not allowed, nowhere. Furthermore, if you would come to Israel than you would see that the Israeli Arabs are not the 'beraved people as you want to believe through your image, no they are vibrand participants in every aspect of Israeli society. (there is just a little % who are not, and 'they are the ones who make the most noice).
81. stupid article
??? ,   NZ   (07.19.11)
Iceland has 320,000 people on it for God's sake... what sort of morom writes a hateful silly article to describe a country which has a population of just 320,000 people? You guys are finally losing it completely....320,000 people! Can I submit an article on the attitudes and history of the town of Gore in NZ , population 5000 ?
82. Terribly biased propaganda
orzclones ,   Iceland   (07.19.11)
This article is horribly biased. Playing the anti-semitism card, much? It tries to paint Iceland as an anti-semitic nation based only on the fact that we don't really have that many jews here, and because we've harbored two known racists. They even go as far as to claim it has an "anti-semitic history" just because a clergyman wrote some racist hymns in the 1600s. Iceland's stance towards Israel has nothing AT ALL to do with anti-semitism. And I think I talk on behalf of most Icelanders when I say that the atmosphere here is far from anti-semitic or racist in any way.
83. Not Birgir, but..
BJ ,   Reykjavik Iceland   (07.19.11)
I'm just going to take the liberty of answering your questions anyways... 1. No, not anymore. Not that I know of. Only one relatively big company called "Eimskip" used to have the swastika symbol(actually, reverse swastika - to be precise) way back when it didn't have any connection to the nazis or Hitler, or even anti-semitism at all. 2. I don't recall that scandal. But anybody who has nazi tendencies in Iceland is generally considered a terrible idiot.
84. The upside of global warming
Ron ,   OC,US   (07.19.11)
Perhaps Iceland will just melt. Perhaps they should allow a few hundred thousand hungry Arab/Moslems in and let the fun begin.
85. Terrible article
Asgeir ,   Amsterdam, NL   (07.19.11)
The author is a complete and utter idiot. Disagreeing with Israel's policies does not make one (or a nation) anti-semitic.
86. RE: Tiki
Gunnar ,   Iceland   (07.19.11)
"Fact is that Israel never 'stole anybodies land. It was always Jewish land (read your bible)" I suppose that comment judges itself, since the Bible is far from the ruler of all the land in the world. Iceland has no real hatred towards Jews. If anything, Iceland just doesn't give a damn about any religion, with an attitude "you can have your religion, just don't try make it mine too". What Iceland doesn't like however is the murdering of civilians, stealing of land and in the end behaving just like the bad terrorists on the other side. For some reason, we dislike it also when Israel ignores UN and kills Greek humanitarians, but sure Icelandic people are clearly biggots.
87. It has nothing to do with left or muslim votes
Anna ,   Reykjavík, Iceland   (07.19.11)
The explanation is much simpler: Public sentiment in Iceland has turned in recent years, as it has done in much of Europe, against Israel and for Palestinians. The foreign minister's actions only mirror that sentiment. Israelis should ask themselves how their actions and policy has brought about this change.
88. suck our icelandic balls
Cartman   (07.19.11)
At least Iceland is not killing unarmed civillians
89. Icelandic friends of Israel
Kringur ,   Reykjavik, Iceland   (07.19.11)
There are many Icelanders who regard themselfs as friends of Israel and who are disgusted with the attitude of the current icelandic government. Please do not judge a whole nation on the misguided actions of pervert politicians.
90. Understand
Gudmundur ,   Reykjavik   (07.19.11)
You must understand that the Icelandic minister of foreign affairs does not express the will of the majority of Icelandic voters. He is only a small troll with European dreams. HIs party is slowly disappearing. Still if Israel fears Iceland then something must be wrong.
