Green Baron ,   Bethesda, MD USA   (08.04.11)
Great story! Let's see if and how the BDS movement can figure out how to boycott this boon to mankind. Makes the BDSers look rather silly, no?
2. All things the "BDSers" would boycott
Carl ,   USA   (08.04.11)
they would happily sacrifice the lives of starving people around the world to demonstrate support for their chosen Palestinians. Too bad more nations in the mideast and Africa aren't willing to overlook their silly partisan politics for the welfare of their own people.
3. dairy in Israel
Joan Malueg ,   CAROLINE WI USA   (08.04.11)
I was wondering if you can explain why Israeli dairies produce more milk per cow each year than we do in the US, and where your statistics can be found. I have lived on a dairy farm for over 40 years, and 2 of my sons are also running their own farms. I would love to share this information with them. Thank you.
4. What are they injecting the cows with...
R ,   Jerusalem   (08.04.11)
if they are using the artificial cancer causing growth hormones rBGH/rBST to get "Israeli cow's yield significantly outpaces every nation in the world" then we are in danger. Anyone know if they're using these toxic hormones? Could that be the reason Israel has high breast cancer rates?
5.  Israel helps stem global food crisis

Will the boycotters of israel will push to boycott these achievements i dont think so
6. To #'s 2 and 5
Green Baron ,   Bethesda, MD USA   (08.04.11)
To #2: It gives me great pain to say this, but I fear I must reluctantly agree with you vis-à-vis BDS and Israel's food advances. Many of these boycotters would rather have their people starve and die rather than take any help from a perceived "Satan" (indeed, I have seen talkbacker Graczek advocate just that sort of thing in his posts). To #5, sorry, I must concur with #2; yes, I think there would be even militant moves to boycott these achievements.
7. #4
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (08.04.11)
Its known that Jewish women have a high incidence of breast cancer. Its genetic and it is rampant in my family. What I want to know is, if our dairies are the most efficient, why are we paying so much?
8. Israel is in competition with other technology exporters
Kim   (08.05.11)
Israeli companies which sign agreements with developing countries are in competition with companies from other developed countries trying to sign up the same sort of deals. Israel would be seen by them as a commercial competitor, not a boon to mankind. Its important to be realistic here. Dairy technology supplied to China by Israel is simply a deal won by Israel at the expense of a country like New Zealand.

''What I want to know is, if our dairies are the most efficient, why are we paying so much? '' ---------------------------------------- The milk yield per cow is not the only measure of efficiency. Some countries use ''milk yield per acre of grazing land''. . If you do not bring cost of feed into the equation you cannot measure efficiency of production. Israel and America. which dont rely on free pasture feeding, both have high cost of feed which they have to compensate for by having high yield per cow.

in what Gazans have outrightly rejected for themselves.
11. #1, #2 - shouldn't BDS'ers be forced to boycott...
William ,   Israel   (08.05.11)
all of these Israeli technologies and medical advancements before the demand others boycott them?
12. Is Israel going to teach how to overuse you water supply?
Johan Odin ,   Oslo, Norway   (08.05.11)
Israel has not conserved water, it has overused its own aquifer to the point that they have become brackish and are drying up. Even the water taken from the occupied territories is drying up due to wasteful overuse. Sure Israel sells hoses with holes in them, but it is hardly an expert in using water wisely.
13. #7 milk yield/cow is not a measure of efficiency
Ben   (08.05.11)
Milk yield per cow is not a measure of efficiency. Efficiency is measured in terms of milk yield per overall costs of production ( feed being one of the biggest) In these terms Israel and the USA are not the most efficient milk producers. Israel's cows are raised in air-conditioned barns and feed costs are high.

If you are really interested, you could start by contacting kibbutz Yad mordechai. This is the place to turn to for sure

trying to ignore the snide comment about holes in the hose-why do you think we are not experts in using water wisely? We desalinate-that is using it wisely. Most of us collect rainwater to water gardens with, we collect water from the ac to water gardens with, we have buckets in our sinks and baths to collect wasted water (some of us anyway). On a larger scale, our toilets have two flushers (the 2 flush system)-one for urine, which requires less water... Israeli shower and do dishes in a way that saves water: wet, turn off, soap and then turn back on... The list is long
16. The truth is ...
Robert M Soran ,   FFM, Germany   (08.05.11)
Israel's development aid is the smallest of all developed countries, including all OECD countries! Istael doesn't help any more, Israel sells for profit and cares little about the needy in the world. At its height, in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the Center for Cooperation of the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs – MASHAV, the government body responsible for managing the aid program, was the largest department in Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Israel had, per capita, one of the most extensive technical assistance programs in the western world. In fact, Israel's overseas development assistance (ODA) budget has continued its steep decline over the past 35 years to its present level of ONLY 0.068% of the Gross National Income (GNI). In the late 1970s and 1980s, the decline in Israel’s aid budgets were compensated for by high levels of third-party donor financing of official Israeli aid activities – in particular, of its international, development-oriented research, technical assistance, and training activities. In fact, foreign support for Israeli activities was so significant by the mid- 1980s that it accounted for approximately 90% of MASHAV’s activities. However, by the end of the 1990s, external financing sources had begun to dwindle, leaving Israel with an aid program substantially smaller than that of ANY OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) country !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why would Israel give aid to giants like india
18. Aid doesn't work
Anton Orde   (08.05.11)
Proper technology transfer does. And why would Israel give aid to giants like India and china? You are typically European in your failed post-colonial condescension!
