31. Finally, spewed venom a la UNESCO
Oscar   (07.19.11)
Unesco the 21 st century inquisition continues it's march toward oblivion. Their cries of loveliness lost in Jerusalem do not match the arab occpation of the city for 1400 years?. A gigantic cesspool, toilet, urine, excrement (W blessings of king Abdullah of Jordan), garbage, with their children playing in it.; with donkey ans camels " sraying " the wole city (hovel) to keep dust down. That's the not so glorious past in their beloved Jerusalem; what they excelled at since time immemorial. Their allah, muhammad wouldn't dare put their feef in this filth. -- never did.. Their loveliness is a reflection of their character, mentality, bestiality, still after 1400 years. Today one can see and watch the results on the screen daily; their behavior toward one another ( killing each other by the 1000's). UNESCO approves: no discrimination; men, women, children, wives, brothers, sisters. They still relish the good old Medieval days..Their muhammad was an excellent teacher in this respect. The Churchillian " Blood. Sweat, Tears " is not a unique part of WWII history. It's pure arab from A to Z, it's muslim from A to Z, it's islam from A to Z. ---- Despicable, disgusting, obnoxious as to rouse moral indignation, provoke loathing and repugnance. UNESCO'S Machiavellianism in it's pure form. Fascism in it's pure form. --- One can just imagine the vile taughts that this vile body succeeded in getting the aproval of a civilized society.
32. To #27
Green Baron ,   Bethesda, MD, USA   (07.19.11)
Sorry, not all Arabs are Semites; check the Tables of Nations in the Books of Genesis and I Chronicles. Many, such as Egyptians, Cushites (today's Sudanese), and "Arabs of the Desert" actually are Hamites, descendants of Noah's son Ham. To be fair, Many Arabs of the Levant would be Semitic, such as many Jordanians (Ammonites, Moabites), Druzes (Midianites), and Aramaeans (Syria and Lebanon, for instance). The ancient Canaanites, by the way, were Hamites.
33. missing the right name?
Marcelo ,   Berlin / DE   (07.19.11)
It is not the UNESCO it is actaully the UN ASCO.
34. @7. Robb
Anna ,   Montreal, Canada   (07.20.11)
If Jews are not Semites, they are not Hebrews, they didn't receive Ten commandments on Mount Sinai,.... By your patent Jews don't belong to the land of Israel, do they? Jews lived in Israel/Palestine continuously for the last 3000+ years. Everyone who disregard this fact just is not honest. Till creation of Israel in 1948 Jews of Palestine were called Palestinians. Arabs who came to live in Palestine didn't like to be called Palestinians. I wonder why? No about the criticism. When do you put a boarder between criticism and deliberate bullying? Why is it so easy and acceptable to criticize Israel and not her neighbors? Did you criticize Arabs for creating the refuge problem in 1948? Or maybe it's again Israel's fault? You are conveniently forgetting about almost a million Jewish refugees had to flee their homes forever without any rights of return with the creation of Israel. Jews are not allowed to entry many of these countries. Is it okay, a norm? It's too obvious you are not an objective person.
35. #7, #27
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (07.20.11)
It was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who said that those who condemn Israel and Zionism are actually condemning the Jews. I think he understood far better than you two.
36. Judaism is at the heart of Islam
Cynic #2   (07.20.11)
Jews don't want to admit that Judaism is at the heart of Islam. Where do you think circumcision and prohibition of pork came to Islam from? Muslim and Jews are of but one origin. Ask the people of Hebron!
37. Let them call
Madeleine ,   Rehovot Israel   (07.20.11)
UNESCO can call all it likes, we will do what we want to do in Jerusalem. I don't suppose the destruction of the Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives by the Jordanians was mentioned? No, I thought not. Jews build, Arabs destroy and yet they condemn us. Who needs these idiots?
38. tell them
Barney ,   USA   (07.20.11)
to stick it where the sun don't shine.
39. UN's shame
Kay ,   NY   (07.20.11)
meotti wrote a devastating blow against the UN moral corruption
40. Educational, Scientific
Niss ,   uk   (07.20.11)
U N which stands for United Nothing Educational Scientific ? why they do they want to cease all archaeological they are pushed by arabs not to show the true jewish history and live in DENIAL some Educational Scientific just like their humanright cartoonist Richard Falk
41. Furthermore...
WikiMiki   (07.20.11)
Muslim doctors taught medicine to Jews only. When the last Muslim king of Granada left he asked the Jewish Rabbis to look after the Muslims left behind and their interests. Muslim architects built synagogues and visa versa... and the list goes on... how little people know about history because they are too blind to see.
42.  U N
Niss ,   uk   (07.20.11)
About time some of none arab countries vote if they can for people who knows the diffrance between right and wrong instead of concentrating on Israel being pushed by anti-Israel most of the time
43. #18: Rambam
Yerushalmi ,   Jerusalem   (07.20.11)
Not only that, he stayed in Morocco for few years, and escaped the Almohad Muslims again. First to Israel then to Egypt. And in his Epistle to the Jews of Yemen he refers to Mohammad as lunatic, and talks how Muslims are worst prosecutors of Jews. Some quotes on Muslims "Who persecute us severely", "And who devise ways to harm us and to debase us", "lies and absurdities of Ishmael", “We are not spared from the ferocity of their wickedness and their outburst at any time.On the contrary the more we suffer and choose to conciliate them, the more they choose to act belligerently towards us.”, “No nation has ever done more harm to Israel(Note:the Jews).None has matched it in debasing and humiliating us.None has been able to reduce as they have.”. There is more in his Letter of Martyrdom, and in Mishne Torah, Laws of Kings, he writes derisively about Mohammad, referring to him as "that ishmaelite" (it is Jewish custom not to refer by first name to most evil persons).
44.  UNESCO ?
Legol ,   Lima, Peru   (07.20.11)
This article of Mr Meotti is very descriptive. Actually, I'm not really surprised by the attitude UNESCO shown towards Israel.- Several decades that they only act in that way.- Even during several years, the U.S. withdrew from that organization, accusing precisely its permanent anti-Israeli position.-
45. Re: #7 "not antijew"
Mattes ,   New Jersey, USA   (07.20.11)
Sorry CB from Detroit, but it is not YOU who decides whether there is a difference. In fact there is none. It has been a long standing technique of anti-semitic people to try and differentiate between Judaism and Israel. When UNESCO or others attack Israel's actions concerning history or archaeology for instance, that is an attack on Judaism. Sorry but we cannot afford the luxury of making such a distinction. Attack one, you attack the other.
46. UNESCO
Ann C ,   Grants Pass, USA   (07.20.11)
Dear Israel, Neither UNESCO nor any other entity has a right to demand what you should or should not do. Jerusalem was, is, and shall be Israel's forever. Our Creator G-d gave you the land, and He has not broken his covenant with you. So dig away and be blest by your findings!!
47. u.n.?
Donald Barnes ,   Grenada,Ms. U.S.A.   (07.20.11)
The U.N. is wrong. It should leave the New York location, and move to some arab country. It supports all arab countries, and should also change it's name to - The United Of All arab countries. The congress and senate should stop funding the u. n.
48. Revisionist Robb
Michael ,   Jerusalem   (07.20.11)
You only serve to prove that it is in fact the same thing. Singling Israel out, holding it to standards that nobody could uphold is done because Israel is the only Jewish state. You prove that with your attempts at erasing Jewish history. Jews existed before there were any Arabs whatsoever.
49. jerusalem
celine woland ,   austria   (07.21.11)
how can jerusalem be possibly an arab capital ? arabs were nomad tribes in the arabian penninsula when jerusalem was already jewish. i thought, unesco stands for education.

where are our Davids to go against these giants. We bend and bend and end up with a bad back
51. UNESCO
ef ,   Israel   (07.24.11)
We are used to it that UN official opinion is against Israel. It has been for years that they trying to change the policy and all the decisions that they made about the human rights. They are not so strictly and so against to the other countries as they do to Israel, so for us it's just to Ignore we do not have to repeat every foolish think they do i wish they will check in the Arab countries they have more work there
52. Moussa ben Maimoun
BH ,   Teaneck, USA   (07.25.11)
The publication did not suggest the Rambam was anything other than Jewish. It did provide his Arabic which is not inflamatory becuase the Rambam lived in Arabic speaking countries, and spoke the native langauge examplified by his publication of the Guide for hte Perplexed in Arabic not hebrew. The rest of the article provides legitimate criticism and should not risk its credabilty by sugessting that UNESCO classfied Mainomindes as Muslim. See the publication I beleive the author refers to. http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/0007/000704/070484eo.pdf
53. trojan horse for islam
vangrungy ,   Canada   (08.07.11)
The Baha'i International Community has a long history of involvement with international organizations. At League of Nations headquarters in Geneva, an International Baha'i Bureau, established in 1926, served as a base for Baha'is participating in League activities. In 1945 when the UN Charter was signed in San Francisco, Baha'i representatives were present. In 1948 the Baha'i International Community registered with the UN as an international non-governmental organization (NGO) and in 1970 was granted consultative status (now called "special" consultative status) with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Consultative status with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) followed in 1976, and with the UN Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) in 1989. Working relations with the World Health Organization (WHO) were also established in 1989. Over the years, the Community has worked closely with the UN Environment Program (UNEP), the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the UN Development Program (UNDP). statements bahai org/pdf/00-0606.pdf

Ivan Gur-Arie ,   Tucson USA   (08.13.11)
Listening to anything from the UN is like playing against a gambler who has marked the deck.
55. UNESCO' Anti-Israel stance
Kevin ,   Hyderabad, India   (08.13.11)
This is not new of UNESCO. Israel has all the right to undertake any kind of program that will enhance her cultural heritage. UNESCO is the umbrella organization of the UN who are terribly Anti-Israel.
56. not anti-Jew?
hadassa ,   melbourne, australia   (08.13.11)
to CB, Detroit: can you not understand that there IS no difference?
57. jerusalem
yolanda zavala ,   cola.sc.   (10.31.11)
