1. no such thing as "west bank"! ONLY Judea & Samaria for over
3000 years!   (07.19.11)
2. HUH?
Vlad   (07.19.11)
This construction is taking place in areas that even the Palestinians aknowledge will be part of Israel. I don't see why Israel should freeze construction there, other than to make it jump through hoops.
3. ASHTON
LAWRENCE ,   Zefat (Safed)   (07.20.11)
Ms Ashton missed her vocation in life ,she should have been a gargoyle. One ugly boat race.Of course she cannot help that but she is clearly an antisemite.Israel should ignore her all the way.
4. GIVE ASHTON WHAT SHE WANTS
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (07.20.11)
Don't build ANY settlements in the EU, then tell her go fly a kite
5. I hope they get a lot more disappointments
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (07.20.11)
Like building another 30-60,000 more homes in Judea and Samaria.
6. construction protest?
jerry i ,   USA   (07.20.11)
Since all those protesters would protest if even a sand castle would be built there, why is the Israeli government restricting tenders to less than 300? They should begin by issuing tenders for 100,000 homes with a threat that if the Arabs do not make peace then every year this number would be increased by what is required to house the growing Jewish population.
7. EU "Upset"? That's a Good Sign.
EZ ,   USA   (07.20.11)
The EU, UN or Russia being "peace negotiators" is worse than electing Bin Laden as Israels PM. History is History: check the fact bucket on these orgs and you'll see the hypocrisy and the failure of their own abilities on far too many fronts for anyone to co sided them as honest brokers of any sort.
8. Build baby build
pasquinel ,   london canada   (07.20.11)
It's none of the rest of the world's business what Israel does with Israel's land. Doesn't England and the UN have real problems of thier own? Why the obsession with Israel ? Don't mess with Israel. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, the city of THE GREAT KING. Go Israel!
9. oh, I feel so bad Ashton, not
Eyal ,   USA/ISRAEL   (07.20.11)
10. EU criticism of Israel and not of the PA.
bob kirk ,   las vegas nv   (07.20.11)
Does the EU regularly express 'great disappointment' over the PA's 'absolute refusal' to recognize Israel as the Jewish state. Has the EU expressed strong criticism of the recent PA - hamas 'reconciliation? Not the I have heard. The EU is simply uncritically pro- Palestinian and shows no useful role vis-a-via Israel and peace.
11. who is EU?
EU? ,   ISRAEL   (07.20.11)
why do we need their opinion? the humpback doesnt see his hump- who's interested on what they say- I am very dissapointed they are putting their nose where it does NOT belong and opening their trap so easily to give what they call"opinions"
12. So am I. It's not enough construction!!!
Ben Yisrael ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.20.11)
13. EU 'disappointed' in settlement construction
Yonatan ,   Jerusalem   (07.20.11)
the only obstacle to peace is anti-Semitism am I right? anti-Semitism blinds you from the truth, you distort all the facts and legitimize terror act against a sovereign country, you can not condem terror against Israel and cry occupation and illegal this and that. so first stop being anti-Semite then tell Israel what bothers you
14. Disapointed!!????
dorothy ,   gilgil, kenya   (07.20.11)
What is this wicked JEZEBEL talkinng about? ISRAEL, BUILD AND BUILD EVEN MORE.
15. i am VERY satisfied with Judea Samaria construction
maurice clebert ,   judea samaria israel   (07.20.11)
and i hope we build a lot more for the jewish people.
16. It's time .....
Ms Ashton? ,   ISRAEL   (07.20.11)
for a plastic surgery
17. DISAPPOINTMENT
maurice clebert ,   judea samarai Israel   (07.20.11)
I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH EU AND ITS STUBBORN POLICIES
18. Build affordable housing for Israeli's
TLV ,   TLV Israel   (07.20.11)
Instead of building in the "settlements". In the "allowed" places within the "recognized borders" there are not enough affordable apartments for people that just want to make a normal living with a chance to a normal worry free (financially) future. Don't force people to go and live in these much debated territories. Bibi, we need a shift of priorities!! please.. im asking kindly..
19. I have a suggestion for the EU
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (07.20.11)
Learn some Georgraphy, the Middle East is NOT in Europe, so MYOFB
20. THE CHERRY PICKING FARM
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (07.20.11)
Strange that Ashton and the EU express "disappointment" at just the "announcement" of building houses. What anyone would call a non-violent act. Yet they expressed NOTHING about the TWO dozen rockets fired from Gaza at civilians again. What all would call a violent acts, war crimes and in all civilized countries, charges of attempted murder would be brought against the perpetrators. It's always fascinating at the selective judgement of some groups, isn't it?
21. THIS IS INSIDE ISRAEL
Daniel ,   Brighton, UK   (07.20.11)
Beitar Illit, Karnei Shomron are in Judea & Samaria which is therefore inside Israel and Israel needs no permission or authorisation from anyone to build housing units there!
22. NOT ILLEGAL
Oniel ,   London   (07.20.11)
What part of LEGAL don't people understand?!!! The lands in question are 'disputed' territories and not 'occupied' - as some people wrongly believe. Therefore, it is not illegal to build on these lands. Just one question to ask all the anti-zionists: Had the Palestinians accepted a two state solution back in the 40's, do you believe this would be happening now? History provides mountains of evidence that categorically show Palestinians refusal to accept a two state solution. Accept Israel's right to exist, and all these problems will disappear.
23. The real truth is -the EU is dissapointed that Israel exists
Zev ,   Israel   (07.20.11)
24. Keep being disappointed, make it a perpetual habit.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (07.20.11)
25. West Bank
Yoav ,   Germany   (07.20.11)
West Bank, what is it? I´am sure it most be some where in Qatar or "Jordanien" but for sure not here.
26. One would think ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.20.11)
... that Ms. Ashton would have enough on her plate what with seven member states of the European Union in default and most of the rest very nearly there. Greece, Hungary, Portugal, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Romania are bankrupt. Austria, Spain, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Denmark and Ireland are very nearly bankrupt. Yet, Ms. Ashton is concerned about a sovereign state's construction plans (which are none of her business to begin with). And people wonder why Israel finds it impossible to take Europe seriously. The EU is a joke. I give it a year before it comes flying apart at the seams.
