1. Get a friggin life!!!!
Talula ,   Israel   (07.20.11)
And leave the dead alone!
2. Where's the memorial for quake victims?
Cynthia ,   USA   (07.20.11)
Capitalizing on the death of an Israeli quake victim is irresponsible. Careless and sensational reporting without any evidence makes me wonder if this is an intentional diversion from the controversial veil ban in New Zealand.
3. this is so sad
(07.20.11)
i followed the chch earthquake story on both israeli websites and nz websites...its easy to see how israel's actions have been misinterpreted by the small provincial nz paper which has fueled this controversy. -- there are cultural differences between israel and nz and its easy to see how these have led to this misunderstanding. Unfortuneately Israel has form from 2004 of using agents in nz to forge passports and this has fueled things this time around. Its infuriating to read the nz paper which thinks it is right and to know that it is totally misinterpreting the actions of all the israelis involved. ...not through malice ( its a right wing paper) but due to cultural differences.
4. NZ Herald is the MOST RACIST newspaper I've ever read!
Kia Ora Kotou. ,   Israel   (07.20.11)
I've been following it's reports for quite a while. In their reports about the Marmara, they had shown a video in which you see the soldiers going down the rope and said - "Israeli army Attack" but never shown what happen straight after... This is one example. I've recently discovered that it's not just against Israelis' but Asians too - they were delivering brochures which protest against Asian migration under cultural background... Therefore, I think that NZ media should have a more tight supervision, by the government on their media, because there are people there, who simply abuse democracy and freedom of expression, for slanding other groups of people, who are not like them!!!
5. 5 passports... different names but all
seadog1946 ,   Erie Basin, NYC   (07.20.11)
from the same country or 5 different countries but the same name or... Yes, lets forget about it... he's dead and his buddies left in a hurry... move along now, nothing to see here.
6. #4
gdfrg   (07.20.11)
I read Israeli, NZ , British, American and Australian news online. The degree of freedom of expression in the comments section of Ynet far exceeds anything I've seen elsewhere. The only stuff they seem to block are religious insults against Judaism and Christianity
7. IT IS HAMAS
Moses ,   Jerusalem   (07.20.11)
Isreal has to hold Hamas responsible for the earthquake in New Zealand and particularly for the death of the 3 or more Isrealis agents. true or false.
8. BIG NON STORY
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (07.20.11)
I'm sure their is whole lot of important stuff in NZ for the Mossad, Yea right. Sounds like at most, the Israeli secret service use forged NZ passports, big deal. It's not like they have nuke secrets or technological advances to steal. Right? Hate to tell the world this big secret, all secret services use phony passports from all kinds of different countries, what? that's a surprise?
9. NZ has a right to be suspicious...
Chris.B ,   Australia   (07.20.11)
Once bitten twice shy. As for Mark's once again outlandish comments' Justification for crimes is so easy for Israel. Oh they have nothing to steal?? So what your saying is Israelis are known thieves and it's acceptable for Israelis to defraud and steal from sovereign nations who are no threat to Israel at all. Well If they do it to their closests allies (cough, cough, nudge, nudge) NZ should be thankful its the low level treatment. Shame on you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
10. #5 - as always, you're big on conjecture, small of facts
William ,   Israel   (07.20.11)
So far, all you've done is present a bunch of "what ifs". If that was enough to convict a person - and apparently if it involves an Israeli, it is - NATO would have already bombed Tehran back to the stone age. From the article and the SIS comments, it is apparent the passports are in his name, from different countries, and none of them New Zealand. In this age of multi-national marriages and world traveling, having multiple passports is not uncommon, especially with Israeli law which allows for multiple nationalities, as does the US, if said nationality does not require an active renunciation of another nationality. Now move along, son, adults are working here.
11. NZ upset at past passport forging
William ,   Israel   (07.20.11)
So, it seems NZ is still upset with Israel over a forged passport incident. A lot of hoopla over this when Israel is involved, but Russians, Chechneyans, Iranians, Hamas, Hizbullah, etc. were all caught recently using forged passports of many Western countries....and not one peep about it. People still point a finger at the Mossad for the death of Mabhouh but none of them dare ask "what forged passport was Mabhouh using in Dubai"?
12. #6 absolute rubbish!
Tahl   (07.20.11)
Following last year's flotilla incident, you could find the most heinous anti-Israeli (and occasionally antisemitic)comments, with outright blood libels, at the BBC talkbacks. Yahoo New's comments are even worse. They do not even pass moderation, and rarely if ever do the editors remove them. Eight months ago, following the Carmel fire, I have read countless comments there filled with scathing antisemitic vitriol, the likes of "God is punishing his 'chosen ones' for their treatment of Palestinians" and "burn kikes burn!" being very popular. I have never seen anything of this sort in ynet.
13. Perfectly normal to go around with several passports
Rick ,   Gaithersburg, USA   (07.20.11)
Why is this strange? Lots of people go around with several passports with them, just in case because... welll, you never know. That's why. Sure, Israel has had to apologize several times in the past for stealing identities for its spy operations but that does not mean this could've been one of those times mossad was trying to get info for some new fake passwords. Really, no proof of misdeed means no laws were broken and all is good. Right?
14. there was only one passport
walensa ,   Auckland New Zealand   (07.21.11)
the five passport story got around the world before the truth had had time to put its pants on.
15. #12 Tahl
gdfrg   (07.21.11)
my comment was meant as a compliment to the amount of freedom of speech in Israel !! . I guess #3 is right about cultural differences causing misunderstandings. By the way, I think you are the most sensible talkbacker on Ynet ( usually ):)
16. We have reason for our suspicion
Sam ,   Christchurch NZ   (07.21.11)
As someone who has lived through the Christchurch earthquake and lost there home the idea that your country might have taken advantage of us in our time of pain is sickening to say the least. Your governments agents have done the before. In 2004 two Israel e agents were jailed for stealing the identity of a tetraplegic man. Your government finally apologized a couple of years later. As for Mossads motovation, New Zealand passports along with Swiss passports are the worlds most trusted meaning we hardly ever need a visa and travel across borders is without hassle. It is important to us that our travel documents stay trusted and having mossad agents running around assassinating targets with our passports really doesn't help.
17. #16 Your suspicion based on paranoia
Ron ,   US   (07.21.11)
Sickening to see you discredit a quake victim from Israel with fabricated stories to sell news.
18. #2 Wrong country Cynthia Kiwis such up to Arabs
Hannah ,   New Zealand   (07.21.11)
Australia made the bold step of banning veils, not kiwis. We kiss up to the Arabs so we can sell them our butter, milk powder and lamb. But its an election year and our PM was born Jewish, though he won't admit it. It's about tarring him with the anti semitic brush. And the paranoid fantasies of journalists who have had one to many drinks
