sad ,   israel   (07.22.11)
hope they are obligated on signing some kind of paper that makes them remain here for a certain # of years after their children finish school and that they do some kind of military service.
3. So basically...
David ,   Haifa   (07.22.11)
...these are economic immigrants. The only reason why we welcome them and don't treat them like the poor refugees from Sudan is that they happen to be white, ahum, Jewish.
4. Who cares why! Keep 'em comin'!!!
Ben Yisrael ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.22.11)
5. Israel has to bribe people to live there
Abdalla   (07.22.11)
A Palestinian makes way less and lives in worse conditions and still will move there for the love of the land and country

Sheik rattle & roll ,   USA   (07.22.11)
Just wait until they go to the grocery store or have to buy a car or better yet gas up that small car in Israel on an Israeli salary.

economy sufficient to employ stupid arubs like you. The romans beat up on Israel at the common era. Many Jews escaped to save themselves & many immediately returned. Jews have continuously lived there since Moses. There were few people there In the 1700's when Jews began to return strongly & drained the swamps. Many died from malaria & arub murderers. Per a census, Jews in Jerusalem were more than arubs from early 1800's to 1900's. Jews made the economy & then arubs migrated there to enjoy it . romans called the area philistia-assyria to insult the defeated Jews. It was never pallyshtein until the 1800's. Moshe

or handsome young man, otherwise they will be so stupid as to be lost anyways. Get a more bright outlook on life. Moshe
10. American refugees
marc   (07.22.11)
All western countries which have some sort of welfare state still for middle class people are liable to get economic refugees from the states. Americans need two jobs just to keep their heads above water if they want access to healthcare as well as food and water And Israelis gripe about the price of milk....
11. Israel is well on its way to becoming a wealthy nation
Al   (07.22.11)
You just cant make this stuff up. Jews are coming to Israel from the west to better their lives. I've been saying it for a long time...America is heading towards 3rd world status as it is being run by a fool for fools. The future of the Jewish people is Israel. Israel is in a period of great growth on all levels. It will be the R&D capital of the world as well as possibly a great financial centre. Mark my words..It will happen as the west especially America and Europe are crashing.
12. 5. bull poop. they want their children to be jewish
(07.22.11)
and are moving to the jewish homeland...sacrificing the luxuries of the US to ensure it. U haters need to put a negative spin on everything jewish. the writers of the article chose this spin not the new immigrants! Am Israel Chai
13. TO EVERYONE
Eli ,   Boston   (07.22.11)
Please don't be foolish to believe that the only reason that families from America are making Aliyah is for financial reasons...There are states in the US that have "voucher" and "school choice/ Tuition Reimbursement" programs so that essentially, tuition to private schools is FREE. @David -Haifa...I will go out on a limb here and say that US olim tend to be a little more productive and ambitious that your Sudanese entrant...US olim also bring money and contribute to the country. Money is a huge consideration, but being Zionistic and wanting a Torah backdrop for our children is whats most important. We're looking forward to making Aliyah soon too!
14. Its not so cheap.
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (07.22.11)
When they get to secondary school, especially the boys who go to yeshivah, you have to pay high tuition, which relative to an Israeli salary is still quite high.
15. Ask now what your country can do for you but what you can do
Haim ,   TA   (07.22.11)
for your country. Thats all we need another bunch of free loaders, no doubt eli yishai will supply them with housing, while the young people of TA are camping on the pavements .
16. #5 Abdalla your correct
Haim ,   TA   (07.22.11)
Yeh you have to ask yourself how come a load of fanatical americans come over here , and have more rights than an arab family whose generations go back hundreds of years ? i belive they call it rascism?
17. Clarification
Aviela ,   KochavYaakov, Israel   (07.22.11)
While education costs far, far less here than in the States, let us not fool ourselves into thinking it is free. Aside from school fees and books, the minimum number of hours provided by Misrad HaChinuch isn't enough to educate our children in a religious framework, where hours must be spread between religious and secular studies. As a family of six children, who undoubtedly wouldn't be able to afford anywhere near tuition in the States, we will still paying in the area of 3500 shekels a month for education for our children, not including transportation for some or any after-school activities. Just for clarification's sake... The school staff has been wonderful everywhere. The Ministry of Education is useless at best.
18. From US to Israel for Jewish education
Philip ,   London, UK   (07.22.11)
to #3 ..so cynical. You dont uproot a family of young kids just for financial reasons. Besides being equally cynical, all the jewish immigration helps win the demographic war!
19. Yeah, we REALLY need...
Daniel ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.22.11)
such committed Zionists. Thanks so much for coming. Welcome to Israel. Step this way for the benefits.
20. Harsh Reality
Ian ,   South Africa   (07.22.11)
Wait till the parents of these kids get dead end jobs earning a basic salary and simply cannot survive also realize you need plenty of Protexia and not to mention plenty of money , they will be running back to the USA very quickly , I know I have been through it all !!!!!
21. Deuteronomy are of the Trees.
Ypip ,   Canada   (07.22.11)
22. americans....................
fcd ,   israel   (07.22.11)
things get bad for them they come here. things get better - they will be the first to return. seen it before. they want the best of everything.
23. Re living in the Westbank #5 Abdalla:
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (07.22.11)
Actually, the standard of living is quite high. Arabs pay no taxes nor do they pay for power. Food is quite cheap. You can see this where I reside in Gush Etzion. The only poor people are those who reside in refugee camps. They are forced to remain in order that the administration receives funds from the UNHRC. It is also a reminder to the international community of the exodus of Arabs from what is now the nation of Israel. Of course, for the most part, this exodus was caused and implemented by the surrounding nations themselves which attacked the fledging state (Israel) but lost the war. We had 900,000 lost souls (Sephardic Jews) all tossed out of their homes in the Mideast and North Africa. Of course, in time (and it was very hard), we settled all refugees. Arabs, by way of comparison, do not settle theirs. There is a huge difference in cultures, wouldn't you agree, Abdalla?
24. Misleading article - it's not free
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (07.22.11)
A - it is NOT free. B - fine, let them come here and join our society and pay taxes and their kids will graduate high school and join society like the rest of us. C - It is NOT free (for those of you who need a reminder if your income is tax deducted at source - us independents know all about this).
25. about time someone wrote the truth @ these freeloaders!

Welcome!
27. 5 & 16 r the same person
(07.23.11)
28. SO TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Daniel ,   Los Angeles   (07.23.11)
The price of a Jewish day school is very high here in Los Angeles. I have two children and with Jew day school tuition I don't know how we will financially survive. To be religious in Los Angeles is very hard with the cost of Jewish education.
29. "Free" ed paid for w/ high Israeli taxes
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (07.23.11)
Apparently, many Israelis (like many Americans) don't understand that the government services they receive are not "free." They are paid from tax revenues. The average Israeli worked 182 days to pay the government for public education, health care, etc. "Tax Freedom Day," the date each year when Israelis begin to earn for themselves was in late June of 2011. In the US, our Tax Freedom Day was on April 12. We don't have nationalized health care, so we pay less tax. That may change, however, if Obama gets reelected and raises taxes to pay for Obamacare.
30. i lived in israel for 30 years
daliya robson ,   usa   (07.23.11)
I made a liyah from australia 55 years ago and left (long story )after 30 years However when I went and all my frinds we went to bild the county and not to save money It would be nice to hear more zionism in the olim. Made me sick to read why they came to israel with one or two mentioning that zionsim was a motivation as well . shame on you all.
