1. 'Phone in Barghouti cell
Ameridane ,   Aarhus, Denmark   (07.22.11)
Wouldn't have been a better idea to NOT take his phone, but to listen to his conversations with his pals? or it might be a cover-up for having more 'phones. Incidentally, how did he charge it? Or was his telephone charged by the wardens?. A real mystery!.
2. Might I suggest ...
John ,   Alaska   (07.22.11)
watching the convicted murderers more closely? Also, given how very serious this was, it would be prudent to search all visitors thoroughly, require direct observation and if necessary, have prisoners meet with visitors only through plexiglass that cannot allow passage of anything to prisoners. If all this is already being done, it may be wise to clear your list of guards and (re)hire guards you can be certain will not be (or have not been) corrupted.
3. Gee. Great job guys. What r u gonna find next?
EZ ,   US   (07.22.11)
Someone better nip this in the bud; prison security in israel sounds more like a consierge in a hotel. Which way to the pool?

David ,   On this planet   (07.22.11)
Kadima Parties gave him this phone as a token of their friendship and desire to free him so he can be the Palestinian Prime Minister. How glorious is it

So your suggesting that a murderer in prison should have a special exception to the no phone rule over all the other prisoners? Also I may not be as smart as Barghouti but I think if I had a cell phone where I'm not allowed to have one (like prison) I'd leave it off most of the time, instead of acting like someone who's not in prison and leaves it on all the time.
7. marwans lack of control
daze ,   US   (07.22.11)
I know this won't get posted, but it was too good to pass up. In a picture of marwan being led away to prison a few years ago, he looked like a frightened little nebbish and according to the late great Tsafir Ronen, marwan had wet his pants. marwan grew a set when he found out Israeli prison was a lot nicer than arab prison. What the guards should have done was to make a threatening gesture or two in his direction just to see if he would wet his pants again
8. Plug In Cell Phone Jammers - Problem Solved

Borrow some of the technology and security procedures that American's utilizie when theYycheck air travelers BODY SCANNERS,METAL DETECTORS, USE THEM Next step, turn off the electric to all cells, if they can't charge their phones they're useless
10. Two weeks, so severe, that will teach a hardened terrorist
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (07.22.11)
a bitter lesson for sure not to fool with the IPS. Maybe install an anti-cellphone device outside his cell and stop worrying about what cellphone is smuggled in?
11. why is there no cellphone jamming equipment
zionist forever   (07.22.11)
The palestinian prisoners are getting cellphones all the time and guards turn a blind eye to avoid creating friction and extra problems for themselves. If we can't trust the guards 100% to enforce the rules and we know the things get smuggled in then why not install cellphone jamming equipment. I am sure it would not be either difficult or expensive to install cellphone jamming equipent in israeli prisons its the only way to stop cellphone smuggling. This is not like smuggling in drugs, a cellphone can have serious repucussions outside the prison. A terrorist or somebody involved with organised crime with a cellphone can plan operations with their colleagues on the outside.
12. Reason for cellphone
Ivan ,   South Africa   (07.22.11)
Because Israel does not carry out the death sentence for murderers, Barghouti is using his cellphone to communicate with his 32 virgins he missed out on. (ha!! ha!! ha!!)
13. Keep him in solitary confinement for the rest of his life.
Bad assed Jew. ,   United States   (07.22.11)
No visitors, no communication whatsoever. You know, like Shalit.
14. #1, I am sure your plan has been done already.
Yehuda ,   Israel   (07.22.11)
In fact, Shabak has probably determined that Barghouti has not and can not preform anything new on which to act on in the intelligence area; so, they decided to take his phone away. It makes the IPS look good and puts to dumb in everyone's eyes what was really going on when he had the phone. He and others will continue to work their emails, cell phone utube movies, empty religious books full of bullets, etc. Finding a cell phone is quite a laugh.
15. @4
Gabriel ,   Leiden, Netherlands   (07.22.11)
Talking about knee jerk response. Furthermore, why are you accusing him of antisemitism? I don't see it. You are a very rude person. Cloggs are a dutch thing btw, not danish.
16. #14 you dont see it because You
(07.22.11)
don't want too. One Question is your part of the world Pro-Israel? Yes or No? By the The Way You have not seen Rude.
17. TIME TO CHANGE THE LAW
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (07.22.11)
Why their should be a death penalty in Israel for terrorism. You eliminate this kind of problem. You never have to worry about his name coming up in a trade deal. Who was bribed to get this phone in, as we all know there is an underground network in all prisons throughout the world. In all cases some guards have to be involved. But for a leader of a terrorist group who may have ordered attacks on Israeli civilians from his jail cell it is unacceptable in this case. It's one thing for cigarettes, drugs etc., to be smuggled in. It's quite another to give a known terrorist leader the ability to run his network. Come on guys!!
18. Cut off his visitation rights...
Malone ,   Hfx   (07.22.11)
....until Shalit gets them!
