1. Save a Child's Heart
sas ,   israel   (08.04.11)
These are the greatest doctors and a fantastic team! The work they do in Israel and around the world is one to be admired! KOL HAKAVOD!
2. Israel saves Palestinian Arab lives while the Palestinian
frank ,   USA   (08.04.11)
Arab terrorists indiscriminately bomb the innocent civilians in Israel.
3. Thank you, Doctors.
Salma ,   Palestine   (08.04.11)
4. Bless that little boy Odai.
Moragh   (08.04.11)
I'd put my life into the hands of an Israeli doctor if I could afford to go there. But I'm not a baby any longer.
5. Quite different from another family from Gaza
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (08.04.11)
The experience of another child from Gaza being treated in Israel was the subject of a documentary. *On camera*, the mother expressed the wish her child should live long enough to join the resistance and die as a "shahid" - a martyr. The doctor treating her was by her side, clearly shocked to hear such words.
6. may he live a long life
IlanaB   (08.04.11)
and may he never ever go the ways of terror...
7. just show palis need to fix their hearts
ghostq   (08.04.11)
cause they got none. the irony indeed.
8. Saving life of another child an responding to iciest
M.Gerald Fried ,   Skokie USA   (08.05.11)
I hope number 5 doesn't have another health issue with this child or another one of hers. Israel should refuse to treat anyone who express terrorists wishes.Funny why doesn't this story appear on front page page of ever newspaper in world? Where good enough to save Gazan children an adults but not good enough to live in peace with them.Funny world never says the Arabs are insane.
9. Hope all goes well for the little guy.
canada ,   canada   (08.04.11)
Babies are babies. May his grandfathers wish for peace be granted.
10. She recanted later in the documentary, though
Carl ,   USA   (08.04.11)
and expressed the desire for her son to live in peace. That such thoughts came from her mouth at all while her son's life was in the hands of Israeli doctors was shocking.
11. This happens every day in Israel!
Carl ,   USA   (08.04.11)
Only a few high profile cases seem to get publicized though. The media presents a very skewed picture, ignoring tremendous good happening behind the scenes on a daily basis.
12. He'll probably grow up to be a terrorist.
Vlad   (08.04.11)
And he'll never know that the evil Zionists saved his life.
13. That stupid so-called mother
Heman   (08.04.11)
With that attitude, I wonder how long the life of that so-called mother will last. I hope for her sake she will live to see her child grow up. In the same breathe I wonder if the baby will have a mother for very much longer???
14. Notice they said "hope relations will get back to normal"
William ,   Israel   (08.04.11)
" And maybe, relations between Palestinians and Israelis, eventually, will get back to normal." Hmmm, that means that there was a time when "Palestinians" and Israelis were peaceful and living in coexistence, and not always at war as Leftists and Arabs like to claim. I wonder when that time was. From the article, it's obvious that it was before the arrival of Arafat's terrorist PLO brothers in 1994 and Hamas in 1987.
15. #2 - this was part of the original The World report
William ,   Israel   (08.04.11)
The Israeli doctor they interviewed said that he often faces conflicting emotions. The day he saved this Gazan child's life the "Palestinians" killed several Israeli youth. He said, "we save their children and they kill our's. It's a tough emotion to deal with. But we are doctors first and work to save lives. Hopefully, our work will help to promote peace".
16. #3 Salma
Korem ,   New York, USA   (08.05.11)
Why are you thanking them? You expressed support to Hezbollah (and I believe Hamas if I'm not mistaken), and those groups bomb Israel at random with the intention of killing people, including these doctors. So why thank them? Wouldn't you rather see them dead?
17. To #5
BK ,   Virginia, US   (08.05.11)
I watched the same documentary and was extremely upset when, after all that was done, in the end the mother had aspirations for her saved child to become a martyr to kill Jews. That is such madness. I hope by the time that child is of age, things will be different. Frankly, I am not very optimistic.
18. I'm grateful the child could be saved
John ,   Alaska   (08.05.11)
and very grateful for the care and skill of the doctors. You did a very good thing. Kol Ha'Kavod.
19. "People are good. Regular people are good everywhere."
Zvi   (08.05.11)
Wise words from a wise grandmother. She has much to teach others. With a grandmother like that to help set him on a different path, I am sure that little Odai will NOT grow up to be a terrorist, but rather will grow into a decent person, and I wish Odai and his family all the best. I wish that this wise woman's true understanding of the world would spread through the rest of the Arab world, where ordinary Jews are demonized as inhuman, evil monsters who live to dominate poor Arabs. Let it be so in our time.
20. Good job ,...
split ,   US   (08.05.11)
An irony - Among the 10 best cardiac surgery teams in my city, one is lead by a Lebanese and another one by Palestinian.
21. Israeli doctors save Palestinian baby
Niss ,   uk   (08.05.11)
Will world media will report this? will Aljazeera or PressTv report this? oh and BBC They will report if a baby or a child hurt or killed and make a big thing out of it. Maybe some should bring it to their attention
22. #8 - I disagree. It's inhumane and against Jewish nature
William ,   Israel   (08.05.11)
A young child has no ability to make a decision to commit a racist terrorist crime. Most kids who become involved in such activities are pushed by adults who neither value their life nor the lives of kids on the other side they target to kill. When saving a life, it is as if we saved the world. Perhaps one such kid will grow up to reject the racist leaning of "palestinians" and plot a new path of coexistence and love. Imagine if the son of a Hamas founder, the one who rejected Hamas and Islam and shared much intelligence info with Israel, was sick and we declined to treat him because of his parents' actions.
23. #11- you should hear the whole story on The World
William ,   Israel   (08.05.11)
The parents were deathly afraid to visit Israel because of the horror stories Hamas keeps pushing. They thought they would be spit on in the streets and attacked violently. They were absolutely shocked in how well they were received. How nice everyone was to them. How the healthcare staff played with the child and how professional and calming the doctors were. There are many instances of the same thing by Arabs who bring their kids for emergency surgery from Iraq, Yemen, Egypt, etc. - many who never even met a Jew but went away with a personal experience that was extremely positive.
24. #20 - why would that be ironic?
William ,   Israel   (08.05.11)
There are intelligent, dedicated people in every society. One should hope that with millions of citizens, Lebanese and "Palestinians" would be able to produce a few high-quality medical leaders. And conversely, you have Rantisi who was a Pediatrician and spent his life killing kids through terror.
25. #21- they'll probably claim Israel was stealing organs
William ,   Israel   (08.05.11)
26. 24 - why would that be ironic?
split ,   US   (08.06.11)
That they work in US instead in their native countries because you keep bombing their infrastructures ,...
27. No. 24 Willliam
NYC Girl   (08.06.11)
So true. And we shouldn't forget that Dr. George Habash was a pediatrician...which didn't stop him from his terrorist activities with the PFLP which resulted in the deaths of Israeli school children. It's amazing how people like Habash and Rantisi somehow find it possible to reconcile the murdering of innocents with their pledge to uphold the Hippocratic oath.
28. split / 26
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (08.06.11)
Of course the pay is better here too.
29. #26 split They work in the US, but
Zvi   (08.07.11)
Like most foreign doctors in the US, they almost certainly came to the US to study at university; this has nothing to do with Israel, and you know it. American research universities dominate the top ranks of medical schools according to the ARWU. No school in the middle east is ranked even remotely close, with Israeli universities being the only ones in the region in the top 100. A Lebanese person who wanted to attend an Israeli university - because that would be closer to home! - would be arrested for treason by the Lebanese authorities if she even TALKED to an Israeli. Palestinians DO attend various Israeli universities, including (ironically) the university in Ariel, which anti-Israel people boycott so arrogantly, and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, whose officers worked very hard to ensure that Arab students from the territories could study there even after a Palestinian terrorist blew up a Hebrew U cafeteria and slaughtered 9 students and wounded nearly 100. There's nothing ironic about Lebanese and Palestinians (especially Christians) studying and practicing abroad. But this has nothing to do with Israel.
30. A very fine ,and wise thing to to.(end)
