The medical system is one of the best anywhere, but would improve greatly with a much more cooperative distribution of education, salaries, & responsibilities among the healthcare team, each with its own expertise.
Graduate training, recognition, & commeasurate pay, of Family Nurse Practitioners, Geriatric NPs, & Pediatric NPs in Primary Care, Midwives, etc. would greatly alleviate MD shortages & demands upon residents, as is happening in the US.
Not to even mention the scandalous disparity between nurses' heavy responsibilities & their absurd pay, which is infinitely worse than all the medical practitioners.
