1. Still would be building pyramids
Rachel ,   US   (08.01.11)
If it were up to defeatist Jews like Eliezer, Israelites would still be in Egypt making pyramids.
2. Cut all funding of the illegal settlements
Haim ,   TA   (08.01.11)
3. DO NOT CUT DEFENSE BUDGET = >
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (08.01.11)
Whatever needs to be cut to make a better budget in this country should be the government spending - as seen in other countries that government people like their gold spoons in their mouths. Government has too many salaries being paid out, etc. But please do not touch defense budget - it will be our suicide pill.
4. Abbas, in other words, is determined to conspire to violate
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (08.01.11)
UN Security Council Resolution, 242 - on the basis of which the PLO was allowed into the peace process in the first place - and the Oslo Accords, especially the second one of 1995 - on the basis of which Israel took the very risky step and allowed for the Palestinian Authority to come into being - thus, why should Israel or any other entity ever dealing again with the PLO/PA trust its leaders...??!! Therefore, upon the introduction of the resolution to the UN, Israel must apply its laws and annex the vast majority of territory of Samaria, Judea and the Jordan Valley, mostly "Area C", but also parts of "Area B", leaving for the PLO to have a "state" on the rest, while the other "state" is already in control of Hamas, it being Gaza. And, of course, Israel must not allow any passage between Gaza and Samaria/Judea, as well as must not transfer any funds to help sustain this new entity.
5. Bibi, here and now
mba ,   Israel   (08.01.11)
The last thing we need is a change in government, but what we do need is for Bibi to stand up and be heard. Enough of gestures, postures, and committees. He himself has to make a stand, clearly and unequivacable; meeting with the protesting masses and giving them answers. If he does the right thing he will have the massive support of not only the Knesset but also of the people. Of course this entails a 180 degree about face for him; but what makes great leaders is their actions in time of distress. Now is not a time to sweat and relegate authority. This is your hour Bibi, make the most of it for this is what you will be remembered for.
6. Very, very wise words.
Shmuel ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.01.11)
He is so right. "Billions go into settlements. Billions have gone." Billions have been WASTED on these illegal settlements and given to these trouble making, blood sucking lawbreakers. They are destroying our country from within and damaging our country internationally.
7. Healthy but still foolish
Ilan ,   Ariel   (08.01.11)
Good to see Fuad healthy and full of the same nonsense. Trying to mislead the public and make the settlements the issue is classic divide and rule. Better to divert than to ask why labor is blocking the transfer of land from former agricultural settlements yo the cities. If you are going to blame the settlements than best the ones more at fault: kibbutzim in '48 Israel
8. @ 4 Jehudah: smart move!
Harmen ,   Leiden, Netherlands   (08.01.11)
Smart move Jehudah, such a plan would only prove all those right who claim Israel is an apartheid State. Create Bantustans for the Palestinians and then pretend all is allright. Yes, that will work, it worked splendidly for the whites in South Africa. Look, you've got to find a compromise with the Palestinians, there is no alternative in the long run. It is as simple as that. And no, giving 30-50% of the West Bank is not a compromise. You will have to go for 96-8%, with some territorial compromise. It is very tough, but there is no alternativ in the long run. Or, yes, there is an alternative, see again South Africa; one binational state for both Jews and Palestinians. Would you prefer that?
9. Turmoil
olavi ,   espoo, finland   (08.01.11)
It is sad to see that the prime minister has not the skills and charisma and gut to govern and make decisions necessary.
10. Of course Israel is headed for a disaster
C.C. ,   Yehuda & Shomron   (08.01.11)
if you have Arabs in the government, like MK Ahmed Tibi, calling for the world to boycott Israeli companies (Hey, why wasn't it reported on ynet? Must have been omitted to make room for the water-fight fun of some women in Iran?) and other Arab traitors sitting in OUR knesset.
11. That is the BEST solution
Dovid ,   Israel   (08.01.11)
Stop squandering enormous sums of money on settlers and settlements and apply those funds to helping people in Israel. The settlements are NOT Israel!
12. with the 'accent on "X"
tiki ,   belgium   (08.01.11)
What would Bibi do 'without the urgent advise of ex-Trade & LABOUR minister Eliezer, under which 'very long time in office, Israel never knew such prosperity as it does now under Natanyahu-Fisher. Bibi is not a child and the last thing he needs is advise from an "X', being former Minister Eliezer.
13. Settler Are the Country's Elite
D ,   Israel   (08.01.11)
Sorry to say Fuad, its the National Religious public and Traditional Sefardim that shoulder the burden for the defense of the country.
14. housing
sybil shapiro ,   south africa   (08.01.11)
I fully agree with Shmuel -its time we opened our eyes!
15. What
michael Pielet ,   boca raton, Israel   (08.01.11)
Ben eliezer is a disaster, whose continued presence provides no benefit to Israel.
16. Israel
michael Pielet ,   boca raton, Israel   (08.01.11)
Dovid you are not Israel and neither is Tel Aviv.
17. This guy is a joke.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (08.01.11)
Ben-Eliezer should be wearing a clown costume (if you could find a large enough size) when he gives interviews. Look up all his other statements if you want a good laugh, you can see why his career is in the toilet. This kind of fear-mongering is typical Leftist BS, their modus operandi when they don't have an argument supported by facts or evidence. Tell me YNET, wasn't Bozo the Clown available for an interview so you had to settle for Ben-Eliezer? Anyway, thanks for the laugh.
18. Rachel (US) - History homework
mba ,   Israel   (08.01.11)
What ever you may think of Fuad (Eliezer), a defeatist he is not. Just look him up on Google and learn a little. Also, you may want to check up on who actually built the pyramids (definitely not the Israelites).
19. bben eliezer and barak
moshon   (08.01.11)
the days of these 2 generals are over. Barak's judgement has been shoddy since his haphazard withdrawal from lebanon and his concessions to arafat. ben eliezer did not distinguish himself as defence minister as israelis died because of his concessions to arafat as well. While ben eliezer is a good man, his 67 borders ideal does not work period. As for barak, next to peretz who he is slighter better than, he is an absolute disaster as he offers to apologize for idf defending themselves against machetes.
20. His ideas are a disaster.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (08.01.11)
21. Of course chaos with Palestinian un bid and Protests
Rebecca ,   Modiin   (08.01.11)
That's what the protests are all about. The left could not keep Livni in power long enough to give Israel away, so they're trying to do it in a non-democratic way.
22. Building in "settlements" is the solution, not the problem.
Rebecca ,   Modiin   (08.01.11)
Much more cost effective.
23. half the officiers are nationalist religious
elie ,   haifa   (08.01.11)
Where are the guys of Tel Aviv ? Do you think really that this is these guys with their red shirts and their flag of Che Guevara that defend us ?
24. Ben Eliezer: Israel Headed for Disaster.
Syd Hall ,   Cleveland, Ohio, USA   (08.01.11)
Perhaps the US Congress should also cut the 12-15 million dollars per week (my tax dollars) that is sent to Israel. I say, along with millions and millions of other Americans, fiance your own trouble, pay for your own tanks and bullets and walls. American's are very close to being fed up.
25. Fuad is the walking disaster
Eddie ,   UK   (08.01.11)
It was Ben Eliezer's "General's plan" which led to the disasters of Oslo, Camp David, the 2nd intifada, and the Gaza war. It is also the same disaster which has prevented growth of settlements in all of Israel. Cheap housing used to be available for secular and religious in the Judea and samaria - and this helped Israeli population growth - young couples were able to start families without the burden of tel Aviv real estate prices.
26. Are you serious,
damon ,   usa   (08.01.11)
Your settlements have garnered you the hate of half the world- And you wan't to steal more!??
27. One word: bureaucracy. The source to all our problems.
(08.01.11)
In every sphere of government institution here in Israel the biggest problem which swallows money in colossal sizes, causes problems to every single Israeli citizen - bureaucracy. The best way to describe it: "The bureaucracy is expanding to meet the needs of the expanding bureaucracy" I have seen it everywhere: - When I came to Israel as Oleh - in the Interior ministry; - When I lived in absorption center. - When I was in Lishkat HaGiyus - tens of soldiers who spend they army services in small talks and wasting defense budget (that's where we should cut the army budget, not the defense systems) - When I was applying for driving license, work license The list goes on. And it even worst than in Russia (because in Russia there are ways to make it work, which I don't won't to mention). Cut the money from bureaucracy and put that money into healthcare, affordable social housing, improving transportation infrastructure and everyone will benefit from it.
28. Ayn Rand, where are you?
Ezer   (08.01.11)
If the leftists have their way, they will plunge Israel into prehistoric economic times. Sure we can and should do a lot more to relieve the students, poor, handicapped and middle class, by dismantling monopolies, increasing competition, building cheap housing for students, improving transportation etc. Netanyahou's government is moving in that direction but no one wants a return to the old days of government regulations, and punishing the wealthy who create jobs by their creativity, daring and imagination. Certainly there is no right or entitlement to cheap housing in the choicest section of Tel Aviv. Obviously, leftist politicians have hijacked the cause.
29. 1 million people to march soon, wait n see.
(08.01.11)
30. Israelites building pyramids
Oded ,   Atlanta GA   (08.01.11)
The Israelites never built the pyramids. They were constructed 1200 before the date of the supposed Exodus. Twisting history is dangerous.
