31. Ben-Eliezer is right!
Gunnar ,   Gothenburg, Sweden   (08.01.11)
It is time for all the sensible Israelis, which is the majority of its population, to tell the extremist settlers: "We've had enough of your dangerous, ideological experiment, and we're not going to put our life on the line for you anymore." For the sake of Israel: Let the settlers defend themselves.
32. to 29, yaeh, we have 1.5 million Arab people.
Miron ,   Seattle   (08.01.11)
Just curious, you think Saudi King waiting for them?
33. "Within the 1967 borders"???????
marlene ,   Philadelphia, USA   (08.01.11)
COWARD! COWARD! COWARD! With Barak, Peres and now Eliezer, Israel may just as well GIVE UP and go back to where they were. These guys speak for the enemy! Thank G-d none of these men are PM. Let Netanyahu do his job. If you can't support him, then just shut up. "A house divided against itself will not stand." Add Livni to the mix and the four of them could NOT do a better job than Netanyahu. He may not be perfect but he's a darn good juggler. Only UNITY will prevail in these Biblical times. Imagine worse: imagine having Obama as PM - what a nightmare, yes? So don't ever think it can't get worse or it will. Shalom.
34. ben eliezar is wrong as usual
jason white ,   afula, israel   (08.01.11)
Cut welfare and tell people to go to work.No more funds for anti Zionist groups.Start public projects and let them work. Stop bringing over elderly and sick new immigrants. We would have thousands of two and three room apartments on the market for the young. We do not need to house, feed and treat medically those that came here for a free pension. Stop giving child allowances to those that never served in the I.D.F. Stop giving money to anti Zionist and left wing groups. Leave the money for the defense or there will be no country left. Start to collect a defense tax on all those that never served in the I.D.F.
35. Ben Eliezer has a history of failed forecasts
Clear Thinker ,   Haifa, Israel   (08.01.11)
How can anyone trust a forecast of Ben Eliezer, when just before Husni Mubarack's fall, Ben Eliezer forecast that Mubarack was strong enough to hold the reigns of power? In addition, Ben Eliezer is responsible in the Labor Party for bringing Ehud Barak back to power, and low what Barak did to Ben Eliezer and the Labor Party. Ben Eliezer fails when it comes to forecasts.
36. Good thinking, No. 5!
Clear Thinker ,   Haifa, Israel   (08.01.11)
37. No. 8, tell the Palestinians it's time to accept Israel
Clear Thinker ,   Haifa, Israel   (08.01.11)
Please tell the Palestinians that Israel is a Jewish country, and to stop teaching their kids that Israel is Palestine (see the MEMRI website for first-hand examples of PA TV shows) . When this happens,we in Israel will be able to begin to talk to them.
38. disaster
colin   (08.01.11)
Ben Eliezar with his idiotic preditions He has not been read of in the press lately so the leftest newspaper prints his junk When is this fool going on pensin At least the people do not have to listen to his desaters.
39. Ben Eliezer is cynic and wrong. HE'S A PART OF THE SYSTEM !
(08.01.11)
40. To: Clear Thinker at No. 37
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.01.11)
Nicely done. You've summed up the problem in a nutshell. The ersatz "Palestinians" will never recognize Israel because they are so bound to their warped view of the world and the deviant concept that they actually have a history that they have not co-opted. They don't. Israel will continue to grow and thrive and reach its exemplary destiny while the ersatz "Palestinians" continue to watch from the sidelines. Really off to the sidelines. Like Amman and Gaza City.
41. Ben Eliezer makes sense, finally.
Michael ,   California, USA   (08.01.11)
Ben Eliezer has missed many boats, but is saying the right things now. Congratulations, better late than never. Watch the bandwagon getting populated by other politicians. The bandwagon is obvious: Yesha settlers are ruining the country. Israel can not afford them, never did. Settle the Gallil or the Negev and derive much more from settlers' existence.
42. Ben-Eliezer and Livni-The Obamas of Israel
Arie ,   BaGolan   (08.01.11)
Word after word from them is we are headed for disasters. Yet nowhere are they constructive in their critiques. The Israeli public knows full well that their ilk, in unity with the likes of Tibi and Barakeh, care only for power
43. it's getting old...
tom ,   toronto, canada   (08.01.11)
blaming everything on "the settlements" is getting old! the disengagement from gaza proved, for those who needed proof, that the real obstacle to peace was the arab terrorists, not the jewish settlers. and 10,000 qassams only reinforced the lesson, for slow learners. but it seems some leftists, like ben-eliezer, cannot, or will not, learn from their mistakes.
44. It's time to pull the plug on the settlements
Moshe ,   Ma'alot   (08.01.11)
We've just about had it with Yesha settlers and their laziness, not to mention running our image and standing aground, and financially ruining us. We in the real Israel want affordable housing and a decent image for our country abroad. Time to quit the territories and give the Palestinians their state, no other way...
45. To: No. 44
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.01.11)
One doesn't gift a state. States are built -- do you see the ersatz "Palestinians" actually building a viable state? I don't. I don't think they deserve one, either. What we need is to annex Judea and Samaria and send its Arab residents packing to Jordan, country of their citizenship. Or, if they prefer, Gaza. They are a blight upon the land. As to affordable housing -- why would you think that Israel would be immune to the same housing crisis that affects other Western democracies? Do you think housing in New York City is cheap? How about London -- highest in the world. I wish Israel could reduce its defense budget and fund housing subsidies, but that's just not feasible. A very workable solution, however, would be to subsidize first-time homeowners in Judea and Samaria. Strengthen the Israeli presence; once the illegal Arab squatters are gone, it will be a very nice place to live.
46. This is no time to go wobbly
Barry ,   Unholyland, UK   (08.01.11)
It's because of defeatists like Ben Eliezer that we never had Judea and Sumaria for years. We're home now - Jordans monarchy could fall any day - and that could be a future palestine. My G-d talk about not being able to hold your nerve. What a wimp.
47. to nr. 3.
cosmopolitist ,   world(-wide)   (08.02.11)
every serious sovereign country has to pay for its own military/army, what it may/shall cost. no investment from abroad (for free), for that means dependancy. and every sovereign country wants independancy and self-determination.
48. ummm IF?
tulag ,   hales   (08.02.11)
if you took this gentleman back in time to when God parted the red sea -he would have been amoung the noted nay sayers of that time....
49. Israelites building pyramids
Vic ,   Dallas US   (08.02.11)
It was the Aztecas and the Mayas that buit Pyramids.
50. That is the BEST solution
Vic ,   Dallas US   (08.02.11)
If both groups could recognize PEACE then what may happen can be avoided. You forget once Rome Conquered Israel and had a form of rule. (I don't agree with that, but they might make you loose what you have for you to realize...) If you are not careful a "Revived Roman Empire" might attempted to take over... *I do not want a "Revised Roman Empire" to take over, but if it did...it would be a catastrophy
51. Divert some resources from
Ameridane ,   Aarhus denmark   (08.02.11)
the ultra-orthodox for re-building and modernization of old suburbs. At least the settlers contribute to Israel's economy, what contribution do the ultra-orthodox do? They are most likely the cause of the high cost of housing due to their large families and the donations from abroad that allows them to purchase apartments at inflated prices.
52. To Jason White #34
Worried ,   Israel   (08.02.11)
You forgot to add: Stop bringing over non-Jewish immigrants: Russian, Ethiopian, etc etc. For years already, the majority of Russians that come are not Jewish nor do they want to be. And as for the Falashmura: most of them would not be interested in converting if they weren't starving to death in Ethiopia. Oh, and I forgot to mention the African infiltrators. Last month alone about 1600 snuck in - it just gets worse and worse. Many of them, if not most, are Moslems. Just what we don't need.
53. This is a joke
Amichai ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.02.11)
You leftists are so damn suicidal. You think Yehuda and the Shomron will be any different than 'Aza? Building in these areas is the best solution to the housing crisis because otherwise we're going to be needing to fuel more money into defenses, more money into fortifying our houses, and we're going to have less room to build in a much less secure country. What we need to do is stop funding the PA. I would like to remind you all of the bomb that went off on the West side of Jerusalem by the Techana Mercazit, and that was in today's times where we have a stronger hand then we will if we give them half our land.
