Actually, having studied eastern Religion for over 3 decades with a very thorough and intimate knowledge of the 5 major religions, I would have to point out something my fellow Dr did not: MANY "secular" (so called moderate) Muslims wound up coming back to their roots to carry out suicide missions and murders. It is true that according to "radical" Muslims, there is no radical Islam, just one faith and everyone who disagrees with them is an infidel. But that is a definition of Islam according to radicals, who could be better called fundamentalists. This is in fact an aspect of all fundamentalist movements, Christian or Jewish, who consider their definition of faith to be the only true one. But historically speaking, that is inaccurate because the fundamentalist movements are in fact relatively modern and have added onto past concepts some of their own (including the fact that their view is the only correct one). If you look at what the Quaran says by itself, it is in essence a summary of the Torah, with some differences here and there, but with the same final message: be a good person (not as simple of course, I do not pretend to understand the Torah perfectly well, but I am really paraphrasing Rabbi Akiva here). Furthermore, Muslims do believe that Allah is the God of the Torah. It is most accurately thought of as merely a translation of the Hebrew word (it even sounds a bit similar, so probably originated from that). Recall also that God's name is not usually used; according to Islam there are in fact many names of God, none of which is Allah. Now whether the Jews should view the God of Islam as the same God as theirs is up to the Jews, and we don't have to agree on this. But just because according to Islam God punished the Jews doesn't mean that that's a different God. In fact, that is what mainly happens in the Torah: God punishes Jews. Now I am a Jew, and in fact the cause of my distress with this article is in fact precisely the fact that I am a Jew. This kind of stuff was what people would write about Judaism in Germany in 1930's, as well as all over the world at different times, even today. This is really quite atrocious. Christianity took about 1500 years until it started flowering into a multitude of different forms (sects) that were eventually at least reluctantly tolerated by the other sects (not counting the Roman Catholic / Eastern Orthodox division at around 1000 CE).
