1. Arab "spring," indeed
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.03.11)
Actually, it's turning into an Arab winter (which is to say, they are right back where they started, if not even further behind). I will be the first to say that I have never been the world's biggest fan of Hosni Mubarak. But he does not deserve his almost certain fate -- dying at the end of an Egyptian rope. Egypt has collapsed into total anarchy. The will of the people? Maybe. But the people are an ass.
2. Should have left
Vlad   (08.03.11)
Any idiot knows that when an uprising fuelled by outrage against perceived wrongs is completed, the supposed offender WILL be executed to satisfy the public's bloodlust, and deflect attention away from the new government's abuses. Mubarak should have left for Israel or Saudi Arabia. His desire to stay no matter what the cost may now cost him his life.
3. Killing of Pro-Democratic supporters
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (08.03.11)
If Mubarak is tried and killed for this, then so should Gaddafi (Libya) and that Syrian monster be tried and executed. Then I will be happy to note that perhaps the Arab people have a slight hope of getting some organization away from anarchy. But it will be a "tough and go" situation.
4. After they hang Mubarak ......
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (08.03.11)
Our peace treaty with Egypt will be worth as much as used toilet paper. This trial will be all about Mubarak the Zionist, how Mubarak betrayed Egypt by selling gas to Israel. This won't be the trial of Mubarak, it will be a trial in which Israel (read Jews) will be condemned. Already, the Sinai which we so foolishly gave up is turning into the Wild West, parts under the control of radical Islamists & Bedouin allies. What we have is a Greater Gaza in formation. Just wait, it won't be long before missiles are fired at us from Sinai just like from Gaza.
5. Are you happy, Obama?
Devorah   (08.03.11)
You should be tried on the same charges and much, much more.
6. #1 - Well said, Sarah B
Devorah   (08.03.11)
7. this is the handiwork of obama
(08.03.11)
if it wasn';t fopr obama knifing this ally in the back, this wouldn't have happened.
8. Danger money
Harvey ,   London   (08.03.11)
Who would want to be an Egyptian president Farouk deposed Sadat assassinated Mubarak executed? Arab spring ? Dream on . Like poking a hornet nest with a stick and taking a peek inside . Democratic change is a pipe dream . More like a combination of military juntas , Muslim brotherhood , rabid totalitarian theocracies like Iran and outright anarchy . The west is utterly naive in its belief that the Arab world is witnessing a new dawn . Far better the old regime of despots who kept a lid on total chaos , mayhem violence and hate . Better the devil you know .
9. You spoil the chances of peace!!
vinay ,   bangalore,India   (08.03.11)
you rascal Obama, you spolit the chances of peace between Israel and Egypt!!
10. Zionist Forever you will need several handkerchiefs today
Nour ,   One-State   (08.03.11)

11. He knew his fate, he chose to die in Egypt at the hands of
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (08.03.11)
"religious" idiots rather than flee his country. He made his choice, he knew what he was doing, but he also sealed the fate of his family, too bad for them.
12. Abuse of power
C.C. ,   Yehuda & Shomron   (08.03.11)
I'm imagining what the trial in the Heavenly Court will look like from those self-appointed anti-religious, g-dless judges Beinish, Aron Barak and their cronies who abused their power in Israel's High Court of Injustice.
13. Wow- A historical moment indeed.
Salma ,   Palestine   (08.03.11)
Another step in the right direction for the resurrection of Egypt .
14. OBAMA - CARTER - ENGLAND Aliance
John ,   Paris   (08.03.11)
Every time a Democrat president rolled the US, there was re-organization of Middle East to their Dark agenda. Jimmy Carter changed the face of middle east by withdrawing Iranian Shah in the worst possible way! CNN, BBC, MSNBC, Reuters & all the major media played a significant role on over throwing of the Iranian King! The Democrat propaganda machine started with poisoning news about SHAH that he is a dictator & there is no freedon of speech in IRAN and many more just to besmear Iranian Royal family since they wouldn't bow to the Democrats & Brits desire to lower the oil prices! Almost 40 years after the Middle East being reshaped by Admirer of Carter BARAK HUSSAIN OBAMA who has no knowledge of foreign policy whatsoever! Obama & Democrats are all FULL of SHIT!! Just look at IRAN - SYRIA and many other Dictatorial regime ... has anyone done anything sofar ..??
15. H. Moubarak
miri ,   israel   (08.03.11)
I can't help feeling sorry for this man who fought for his country - took over the reigns after Sadat was murdered. I wonder if he was truly responsible for all the peoples' misery. What was the Egyptian peoples' plight when Nasser (and before that King Farouk) reigned ? I am wishing him good luck.
16. #13 Resurrection of Egypt that was routed in 6 days??
(08.03.11)

18. The good thing about all this is, that Mubarak
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (08.03.11)

19. Dictator faces a trial,
Jarda ,   Czech Republic   (08.03.11)

20. meh
new day ,   same 5hit   (08.03.11)
who cares?
21. MUBARAK ERA !!
mark ,   t.a. israel   (08.03.11)
MANY PEOPLE WILL REMEMBER HIM AS A DICTATOR WHO ADVANCED EGYPT IN MANY FIELDS SUCH TOURISM MODERNISATION OF AGRICULTURE ETC . NOW WITH THE LACK OF AUTHORITY AND CHAOS EGYPT WILL LOOK FOR HIS ERA WITH NOSTALGIA !! AS THE SAYING WHEN THE NEW ONE COMES YOU LOOK FOR THE OLD ONE!
22. Oh mummy !
Haim ,   TA   (08.03.11)
Maybe they will mummy-fi him and stick him in a pyramid with all those billions he stole from the Egyptian people . That way when they make Indiana Jones #25 they can use Mubaraks pyramid as a back drop to the movie.
23. Better to keep the devil you know than to replace him
Yaniv ,   Israel   (08.03.11)
with the devil you don't know. That applies both to Mubarak and Gadhaffi.
24. to nr. 1
cosmopolitist ,   world(-wide)   (08.03.11)
the egyptian people have the full right to call hosni mubarak to justice, so that he can give responsibility about his term in office since 1982, as a dictator. to be a dictator, to lead a dictatorship is a crime against her/his own people, is also a crime against humanity and mankind. (un-charter 1945, universal declaration of human rights 1948 among others.) let that be a warning, a promise, a lesson to every dictator and dictatorship ( people in 87 countries in 2010, with more than the half of mankind, unfortunately have to live under a dictatorship.) in the entire world as long as they remain in power everywhere and always, what can happen/happen if they continue their selfish, totalitatian, repressive, criminal and unjust "leadership" instead of sharing the power with their own people in a fair, honest and democratic way.
25. to nr. 3.
cosmopolitist ,   world(-wide)   (08.03.11)
no, this is not from anarchy, but from chaos and disorder. anarchy has nothing to do with chaos and disorder. (see eventually a dictionnary, encyclopedia or on internet, via google.)
26. Public execution anybody?
Beauchard   (08.03.11)
In Iran they publicly hang with a crane. In Saudi Arabia they prefer the public beheading. What to choose? A diificult dillemma for the new "democracy". Perhaps a plebiscite will be needed. Anyway, whatever they choose, it will be good for the viewing figures of Al Jazeera.
27. to nomber 10 you are right
yael   (08.03.11)
it is shocking and sad to see how brutal and primitive the Egyptians are
28. #5, first of all, Devorah you are an idiot.
noa ,   israel   (08.03.11)
Obama is not responsible for corrupt Arab mentality, which by the way has never been good for Israel. He wholeheartedly tried to make a change. The world, if you look around, was already a terrible, terrible place. I feel for Muburak intensely, but Obama cannot bear responsbility for the primitive behavior of these countries. Next you will be saying Obama is responsibile for Sudan; oh, you didn't notice or care that thousands of people got killed there?
29. Another Obama Drama!..I cant wait to see the 2012 Election boot him out
Alan ,   SA   (08.03.11)
30. To: No. 24
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.03.11)
Hosni Mubarak kept Egypt out of war for thirty years. It may not have been a very congenial peace with Israel, but it was far better than war, which is the road upon which Egypt seems to have embarked. By the way -- just so that you're really clear on this -- we're going to take back Gaza and we're going to take back Sinai. Perhaps -- just to ensure that shipping through the Suez Canal is not adversely affected -- we'll take a small strip on the west bank of the Canal, too. We did it once before. We can -- and will -- do it again. Then Egypt can return to its desperate straits -- an economy that's circling the bowl; skyrocketing inflation; empty supermarket shelves; unemployment approaching 40% -- and Israel will dump the terrorist rabble in Gaza onto your laps as well. Enjoy. Have fun. You deserve the very best; which will it be? The tyranny of the generals or the suffocation of the fundamentalist Moslem Brotherhood? Israel will keep the Canal fees.
