1. Commie idiots who don't understand simple economics.
Ben Yisrael ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.03.11)
2. "it takes four-five years to build an average building "
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (08.03.11)
Yes "it takes four-five years to build an average building" so what do you want Bibi to do? Use a time turner to make them magically appear sooner?
3. Arrest them all & throw them in jail.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (08.03.11)
Jail can be their ''affordable housing'' - isn't free room & board what they want? These people aren't looking for realistic solutions - this is protest with an ulterior motive. Listen to the rhetoric, it's all Leftist BS. Of course Netanyahu believes in competition - because it works. Our housing problems took years of gov't. mismanagement to develop & they won't be solved by waving a magic wand. Much of the problem is due to monstrous bureaucracy & mindless regulations. These fools don't want to increase supply, they want more gov't. control. And, of course, they want Netanyahu's head on a platter, something that has absolutely nothing to do with affordable housing. Did you know that cement is a monopoly business? What do you think that does to prices?
4. yep, bringing Tahrir Square to Israel
E. G. Marsch ,   Nahariya   (08.03.11)
So, folks, still like the "protesters"? I was hearing about how they were a wonderful specimen of Israeli democracy. "Hold that vote and we'll block the entrances to the Knesset"--doesn't sound too democratic to me. I suggest strolling down Rothschild Boulevard in Tel Aviv and having a look at the commie-hippie encampment. These are dinosaur "red" totalitarians. They're lucky Israel tolerates them at all. But what WE don't have to tolerate is them bullying their way into Israeli democratic procedures and claiming that they represent US. And yes, they do look at what has happened in Egypt, where a relatively moderate regime was brought down by extreme nationalists and Islamists, as a wonderful example. They want a totalitarian takeover in Israel, too, and if they could have it, they would want BIBI to be HUNG just as Mubarak is now probably going to be hung. One of their banners said "Mubarak, Assad...Netanyahu is next." These are your wonderful "democratic" protesters.
5. Physical violence is anti-democratic. We do NOT support this
(08.03.11)
6. What anarchists can't do at the ballots, are trying to do now
(08.03.11)
The moment the demonstrators initiate violence, they will lose the legitimacy and they will lose the support of the people! This is a friendly warning to the honest demonstrators: distance yourself from the screaming, slogans toting rioters and agitators. They are not interested in your welfare and in the success of the revolt. They are interested only in creating chaos and violence. Throw them out of your midst and tell them to leave you alone. They are your worst enemies.
7. Former "demonstrator mom" from Haifa
(08.03.11)
I took part in the second rally in Haifa, but I left in a hurry, disgusted. Why? Here is a little story why. we were a group of moms who took the kids from the kindergarden and decided to tell the gov that they need to subsidize or control the milk substitutes and brung them down to the prices which are normal in the Western world - around 40Shekels instead of 80-100Shekels. At some point I noticed a particularly noisy group shouting "Bibi go home" and "Social Justice" - nothing really connected to our purpose. I got closer to that group (some were with kids and some without) and asked them how Bibi going home will solve the milk substitute problem, and what they meant by "Social Justice". They told me: "If bibi and Likud go home, a more responsible party will take power and solve all the problems". Well, that sounded so much like an empty slogan, but I pressed on: "which party?". And one of the "mothers" answered: "like Balad or Hadash". OH YEAH! SURE! I realized that I was being used for political propaganda by two of the most anti-Israeli, racist parties! I warned the other moms who came with me and we left the "demonstration" turned "anarchist propaganda" just as quickly as we joined it. I AM DISGUSTED with the CINYCAL USE OF NAIVE AND HONEST DEMONSTRATORS BY SUBVERSIVE AND ANTI-SOCIAL ISRAEL HATERS. If you have ANY sense left, open your eyes and kick these scum out of your ranks. They will only perpetuate our pain and destroy our future. Our REAL demand is very simple and doable: BIBI: PLEASE PUT THE MILK SUBSTITUTES AND DIAPERS PRICES UNDER GOVERNMENT CONTROL. BRING THEIR PRICE TO NORMAL PRICES WHICH SHOULD BE AT LEAST HALF OF WHAT THEY ARE NOW. WE DO NOT WANT YOU TO GO HOME! WE WANT YOU TO ACT NOW AND MAKE OUR LIVES BETTER.
8. Netanyahu believes in competition!
David ,   Israel   (08.03.11)
Ye, right!....competition for the rich and throw the scraps to the peasants. He's lucky he's not in Egypt!
9. to#1 Heres som simple economics for you.
Levi ,   Karmiel   (08.03.11)
I work two jobs, My wife 1 job full time. At the end of the month we have nothing to save. We live simply and work hard. We are underpaid as we live in the north. We do not own a home or a car. And we still are broke at the end of the month. Why because hers your economy buddy, Arnona 19% raise in last 4 years food prices have more then doubled on some items and 50% higher on most others. Rent have more then douvbled in 5 years. I have been at the same place of work with many others for over 5 years with not one raise. Sounds fair no? and our compnay has posted record earnings like most banks in Israel. Electric up another 19% now thats like 28% in 4 years. Gas 18%, shall I go on? Economics right? Here you go. If the elites refuse to pay a poper wage you wont have any workers. How does this sound for Economics? Becuase this is where it's going.
10. #2 Eric, Tel Aviv & NY
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (08.03.11)
It takes 4-5 yrs. just to make it through the bureaucratic mess our bolsheviks have created. Where on Earth does it take 4-5 yrs of actual construction to build a 5 or 6 story building? Even a ten-story building? C'mon, we're not talking about building the Empire State Building here.
11. #9 how old are you? how much money does your family make?
(08.03.11)
12. reality
Brian   (08.03.11)
Don't these protesters understand reality?
13. Strong arm tactics
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (08.03.11)
Use them and you lose my support. You can demonstrate and protest and in another couple of years cast your votes in new elections. Maybe even for your own party !!! Learn the rules of democratic change and use them with all your might, but no violence.
14. David #8
Tzipile ,   Tel Aviv   (08.03.11)
You are lucky you are not in Egypt...
15. to Terry the jailer
mba ,   Israel   (08.03.11)
Yes, the entire country (and the Infrastructure and Trade Ministry) have know for years that the cement industry is a monoply and nothing has been done. The same people who have controlling interest in Nesher (cement industry) have controll over most of the trucking industry as well - the one and only Mr Dankner. Many of these protestors may be novices and making mistakes, but they have brought these issues forward and they are now on the agenda of the government. If Bibi can can solve the major issues or at least start a reasonable process so be it. If he can't, then he should step aside. Spins and hand gestures will not suffice this time.
16. Mistake: Is this the French Revolution ?
Roland Seener ,   London England   (08.03.11)
17. To all demonstrators: You can't have it both ways
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.03.11)
You can't both decrease taxes and increase social welfare. It is consistent to say: "Decrease taxes, decrease social welfare. Increase taxes, increase social welfare." That's at least consistent. Increased social welfare is dependent on increased taxes, but you want decreased taxes. Then you can't have increased social welfare. Social welfare is one big fiasco in Europe. Just take a look at what happened in countries with social welfare such as Sweden, Denmark - it doesn't work - they are moving towards privatization. Look at what's happening in Greece, Spain , Portugal, Italy and Ireland - all these countries have overconsumed, overspent and amassed national debts higher than their GDP. Listening to you demonstrators is like listening to a perfect recipe for disaster. Your goals of "improving" life in Israel will simply bring you more of what you don't want. And I'm getting really tired of you demonstrators because you have no clue about economics or business. I happen to hold a degree in business so I know what I'm talking about.
