2. Fear monger
Steve ,   Israel   (08.03.11)
stop with the fear mongering already !!! without a middle class to drive the country we are doomed , start worrying about within
3. Forgetting bigger threats . Why not?
DT ,   TA Israel   (08.03.11)
Netanyahu is unlikely to do anything re Iran and it will take more than knocking off a few more scientists on motor cyclists
4. Mr. Haber thank you for the reminder....
Israeli Widow ,   Israel   (08.03.11)
but truly did you really think that loyal citizens of the State such as we all are had forgotten for one moment the other existential threat which permanently looms over our heads? Well, Sir, No Sir we have not forgotten. Not for one minute. Please do forgive me for being so bold but you do realise that amongst the children democratically demonstrating out there are my children. And if I am a widow, survivor of terrorism, well Sir you do understand exactly what personal status my children have! (I respect you a great deal and apologize if this sounds gruff) Wishing you all the best.
5. let's think about the American Civil Rights movement....
Asi Lefear ,   Israel   (08.03.11)
it is a far far better analogy. I marched with Dr. King in the 60s for the just cause of open housing for all irrespective of religion and race. I stand by our young middle class in their hour of need. Nope this isn't Tahrir Square and the Arab Spring...the kids out there are non-violent, believers in democracy - Israeli democracy, and all they want is a fair chance.
6. hahahaha!
GUH   (08.03.11)
Eitan Haber: Don't worry about socioeconomics. It all is irrelevant. Worry about those evil, evil bogeymen out of the window surrounding us. The world is a dark, cruel, sinister place, so we must lock ourselves in our little enclosed places, turn off the lights, lock the doors, quintuple check that they're locked, but the bogeymen will still get in! Israelis have the most paranoid society on earth!
7. Those threats are not real.
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (08.03.11)
They are all created to keep Israelis living in FEAR, so the wealthy elite can cash in on the conflict. And this elite don't even live in the country. It's time for justice in Israel!
8. Screw the scaremongering crap
Mike ,   Rehovot   (08.03.11)
Reducing the cost of living and lowering the price of housing is more important at the moment. So Haber go and spread your hollow scare stories to somebody else we here far too many of them anyway. And we know why!!!
9. Don't worry....just smile and be happy !!
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (08.03.11)
Any party that poses an existential threat will rapidly find themselves afflicted with "sheet of glass" syndrome.
10. GUH / 6
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (08.03.11)
Go ahead and laugh your fool head off. They have a reason to be paranoid. They are surrounded by people that want to kill them.
11. Rich / 7
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (08.03.11)
Those threats are very real. They don't have the luxury of living in Canada. You should be their to experience it with them instead of making foolish comments from the safety of your armchair.
12. #6that's how you can tell by the overcrowded beaches&coffee-
tom ,   tel aviv   (08.03.11)
shops/malls etc. What a moronic article for imbecile audiences. We have it great, but sure as Hell are bound to screw it up!
13. palestinian statehood
yonatan silverman ,   tel aviv israel   (08.03.11)
The UN does not have power or authority to translate General Assembly resolutions de facto or de jure on the ground. The Palestinian state only exists inside the walls of the UN. The only state the Palestinians will get in Sept is a state of mind
14. # 6 hahahahahahahaha
Moragh   (08.03.11)
Can you blame them. Surrounded by thugs in the strongest sense of the word. It's no joke so, hahAHAHAHAHA take your haha's and shove it where the monkey shoved its' nuts!
15. Haber's issues are REAL !
moshe ,   Tivon   (08.03.11)
Some of the social-economic problems must be solved ...those that require "only" money are solvable immediately , right now ! ...social problems that require new thinking, Ashkenaz -Sephardic; USSR immigrants; Etiopians ...require new Israeli attitudes ..ahh! ...can NOT be solved so easily. Haber's issues are REAL ! Stupid and cowardly to flinch or to ignore them. moshe moshe
16. Solution: Destroy Iran's nukes. Annex Judea/Samaria.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.04.11)
The threat of Iranian nuclear bombs is a real one. Israel must act promptly to destroy Iran's nuclear bomb making ability. Attacking Iran's nukes has risks but they pale in comparison with a nuclear Iran. Palestine, on the other hand, is pure 100% hoax. The P.A.'s upcoming statehood bid is even more ridiculous than it's 1988 bid, which was a total disaster. The P.A. is bluffing and not even well. The only thing the P.A. can do is pass yet another meaningless anti-Israel resolution to join the hundreds of such worthless resolutions. Israel should serve the U.N., E.U., all international bodies, governments and media with incontrovertible proof Judea and Samaria are ours. We have such proof in abundance. Than annex Judea and Samaria.
17. Good, balanced article as usual. Thank you for your input!
Rafi ,   US   (08.04.11)
18. High cost of living in Israel
Andee Gold ,   Netanya, Israel   (08.04.11)
Why are our custom fees so high? Why are our VAT fees so high? Why does the post office charge a fee of over $10 for products ordered outside of the states (weight over 2 killo) Why are our bank fees so high? Changes in these areas would help those of us who earn less than the minimum income of average Israeli citizens.
19. thats they always shut us up...dont listen - stay focused
Lemmings Hotline ,   sd usa   (08.04.11)
stay focused on one issue- housing and you might get some change. If you throw too many kinds of fruit into the blender it wont have any taste at all.
20. solution: move command center to the tents
Lemmings Hotline ,   sd usa   (08.04.11)
21. He has a few very good points
Moshe ,   Netanya   (08.04.11)
Finally, I agree with him. I still remember Yom Kippur war. What coused it? Most peope in Israel as well as Arabs told me that when Abi Natan flown on airplane to Egypt, Egypt decided that time had come to finish with Israel. They were mistaken but the demage one person can do is huge.
22. very patronising
dan   (08.04.11)
23. CHANGE THE SYSTEM!!!
galilean ,   Israel   (08.05.11)
The system here is bad. Piggish capitalism has finally done the job of showing us how the wrong kind of capitalism can bring down a country. Free markets, competition, end to cartels and monopolies will cure Israel. CHANGE THE SYSTEM! .... then everything else will fall into place.
