31. #6 Maori in NZ
Kim   (08.04.11)
the problem for people in NZ who have Maori blood is similar to that of Jews in America. Due to widespread intermarriage there is a worry that Maori culture will disappear. Its unlikely though because all the cultures in NZ are intertwined due to unlimited mixing. NZ is lucky to have a mix of ethnicities which by and large get along fine, unlike the situation in some other parts of the world. Likening Maori to Tamils or Kurds, among whom there seems to be a widespread desire for independent statehood is showing a remarkable degree of ignorance. Perhaps you were joking ? Its hard to detect irony online sometimes.
32. correction
M. Said ,   Turkey   (08.04.11)
Mister Bechor counts kurds 18 million. Kurds only in turkey count over 25 million. As a democratic turk supporting kurds' right and independence from turks building castles of ottomans in the air, from iranian dictators knowing nothing about what they do, from arabs having "a great deal" states needless; i've liked Mr Bechor's comment.
33. Does the word Kosovo ring a bell?
george ,   tel aviv   (08.04.11)
Interestingly enough, the Turks are ardent supporters of Kosovo. History acts in mysterious ways
34. Interesting approach
george ,   tel aviv   (08.04.11)
'The Turkish government wants the Kurds to be Turkish citizens, with full equal rights. This at least potentially means that they can justify ruling over Kurdistan.' That means that France, e.g., can take over Italy and rule over Italians provided that it wants Italians to be French citizens, with full equal rights. How interesting
35. Kurds and Armanians
DOTAN ,   CANADA   (08.04.11)
It is indeed the time that these two opressed people should have their STATE. The Kurds have been friends of Israel since Brazani times. The fine Armenians do deserve to have their own home. God Blesse them all!!!!
36. some facts
citizen_world ,   USA   (08.04.11)
that are unknown to the commentator and the readers: 1. kurds in turkey are not anti-semitic but are mostly anti-israel. Who do you think IHH is and flotilla was organized by? most of the 9 killed activitists were kurds, not turks as most of you think. 2. you may think kurds supporting PKK are pro-israel. PKK fought with palestinians in lebanon against israel 30 years ago. in fact, leftist kurds are more anti-israel than islamist kurds 3. contrary to what people think, most kurds vote for erdogan. erdogan's AKP party is #1 in kurdish region, pro-PKK party is only second. To see this, look at provinces such as adiyaman, bingol, etc. where erdogan's party is #1. just some quick facts for ynet readership before you make quick conclusions...
37. kurds
kamal ,   flint,USa   (08.04.11)
I am in favor of a kurdish state, which I don't think will be an ally of Isarel, as the writer hoping, remeber, Salah Eddin was a kurd. ! Palestinians, are not only the two or three millions who live in West Bank, they are over ten millions worldwide, as many as the Kurds!
38. zetzky @ 2, you are wrong about Kurds being anti-Israel.
leo ,   usa   (08.04.11)
Quite the contrary.
39. As much as I support the idea of Kurdish state
leo ,   usa   (08.04.11)
I do not think it will survive. When Israel was reborn it was in geographically much more favorable place. It was surrounded by enemies, but only on three sides. Kurdistan will be landlocked 100%.

41. Ku Klux Klan desires
Murat ,   Antalya   (08.04.11)
All those comments supporting a so called kurdish state do not love kurdish people really. They all hate Turks&Kurds&Arabs&Iranians. They all hate muslims. So, keep thinking, Turks&AKurds&Arabs&İIranians are so stupid you used to see in your home-made movies. We know, you desire it. But sorry ! We will never fight eachother to make you happy. The kurds know very well the real intentions of rightist Israel,Armenians,Serbs,Swedish etc. Keep dreaming of ..
42. stupid article
MadMax ,   Toronto   (08.04.11)
Hey Israelis, keep ruining your relationship with all your neighbours. Do you realize that by making all these comments you will also lose your another ally, Azerbaijan? remember, Azerbaijan and Israel has multi billion dollar trade and large Jewish population that enjoys all the rights and freedoms of Azeris. Azerbaijan will always be there with Turkiye, remember. The enmy of Turkiye is the enemy of Azerbaija.
43. #4 I'm with you there Sarah B
Moragh   (08.04.11)
I met some Kurds at a health clinic just one year ago. I could hardly believe how they suffered at the hands of the 'Gippos' (Egyptians). The stories I was told are atrocious and I wonder just how bad these muslims really are to their own? Into the bargain, I felt sick to the pit of my stomach looking at some pictures I saw. It was so sad and completely horrifying to say the least.
44. chilax :)
anton ,   istanbul turkey   (08.04.11)
none of you will see kurdish state in your lifetime :) its so sad to see you guys so desperate it all stems from the opinion that only kurds did not show anti semitism so israel should support it but what will happen when they begin to show it lets say miracle happened and kurdish state is established :) people in mavi marmara was mostly kurdish but you are in dire need of friends that even kurds being muslim doesnt stop you :) while kurdish state is like million years away look ahead to september palestine is not so :) btw we dont burn kurdish houses to ground and sieze their property have settlerrs with guns steal it kurds are not under siege they elect their own people to parliment and are already part of turkeys political system seperative kurds are minority while all pals wants their own state september :)

46. Funny analysis
sergen ,   izmir   (08.04.11)
Actually It is not worth to comment. But I can say smt.Kurds have been living with turks for 1000 years. How do they establish a Kurdish state.Maybe turks accept if all kurds leave turkey and go kurdistan. But kurds who I kknow rejected this strongly. Please be a realist.I can understand Israel's situation but This comments and articles are too assretive for Israel.

MadMax ,   Toronto   (08.04.11)
You belong to a nation that salivates from the look of other nations lands. Nation of theives. Not even in your wildest dreams you will not see even a single inch of Turkish lands occupied by you....
50. BENASSI you are not indigenous to the USA,leave now.!Jews

51. lies
be decent ,   Toronto   (08.04.11)
First of all stop lying and crying wolf about all this "murders". Stop attacking Turkish soldiers and murdering civillians. Start being useful and loyal citizens of Turkiye. Remember, you never had your own state and never will at the expense of Turkish lands. Time to be smart and stop acting like armenians...
52. WHAT ABOUT A COPTIC STATE IN EGYPT?
IamJoseph ,   Sydney   (08.04.11)
Like the Jews, both the Coptics and the Kurds predate Islam and the Arab race in Arabia. Unlike Israel, the Islamic regime states created by Britain are based on fiction and 30 barrels of oil.
53. #47 you re not a kurd
Ender ,   samsun   (08.04.11)
Why do turks hate Israel. There is not any reason for this.turks are not anthi-semitist.If turks didn't protect kurds or let them to live in turkey.Any kurds wouldn't be in istanbul or ankara. Many kurds were president,Pm,minister and army chef in turkey.Still many kurdish origin parliamenters about 150 in parliament. If you want a state ,We will let you.do you accept to leave turkey.?
54. OH MY GOD... SCARED TO DEATH:))))
SELJUK ,   ISTANBUL, TURKEY   (08.04.11)
IN TURKISH WE HAVE A SAYING.. " A SILENT HORSE'S KICK, WOULD BE STRONGER THAN YOU EXPECT" WAIT AND SEE!!!
55. No, no dilemma for Iraq, Iran, Syria, Turkey
Rob ,   USA   (08.04.11)
[re the notion of a unilaterally declared Palestinian state] -- NO, they will just declare their case to be different, as the norwegians did when they got hit by a 'militant' attack.
56. #2 - but the Kurds are not Arab...
William ,   Israel   (08.04.11)
and neither are Persians, both groups of which hold Israel to a higher esteem than racist Arabs do.
57. #8, #17 - comparative history shows it best
William ,   Israel   (08.04.11)
The Kurds are a unique population (unlike "Palestinians") and have had a long history in the region including a list of rulers and flags under autonomy. The "Palestinians" had none of that. Like the Jews, Kurds were promised their own State in their homeland after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. And like the Jews, Kurds saw both their land and their rights taken from them by double-dealing colonialists who favored Arabs. Kurds have been on their land for centuries, as have Jews, and both have a well-documented history. "Palestinians", a group of disparate Arabs/Muslims who arrived for economic benefits, do not. That was clear in the 1920s census that cited 20 languages spoken among them. The issue of a State for "palestinians" is neither a legal one nor human rights one. It's a moral one because otherwise what are these 2 million people going to do (Pals starting with acting like peaceful humans would be a good start). However, the birth of Israel and the future birth of Kurdistan is a moral and legal imperative, and a human right. Plus, awarding "Palestinians" a State would be rewarding years of attempted genocide through ethnic cleansing and terrorism. That would akin to awarding Turkey sovereignty over Armenian lands after they commit a genocidal atrocity - oh, wait, that already happened!
58. #24 - Neither Syria, Iraq, or Iran are of great importance
William ,   Israel   (08.04.11)
Syria and Iraq remain failed States which can go Jihad any moment. And Iran is volatile and dealing with restive opposition (including "undesirables"), and already pretty violent. That only leaves Turkey which is already leaning towards the Jihad-club. How are these 4 nations "of great importance"? One thing you have shown in your post is how the rights of a population are skewed and sometimes negated by the whims of others with an agenda. That's why the world seems to favor a "Palestinian" State on ethnically cleansed Jewish land - with the support of Arabs - and ignores the decades plight of Kurds and Kurdistan - which Arabs do not support.
59. #29 - do indigenous "Palestinians" speak Bosnian?
William ,   Israel   (08.04.11)
Last I checked, Bosnian isn't a primary language of any country in the Middle East, yet that's what the British census in the 1920s cited among Arabs in Palestine. In addition to 19 other languages. Hardly an argument for being "indigenous". The 800K Jews who were ethnically cleansed from their homes by Arabs are definitely indigenous, and with the re-birth of Israel, it doesn't matter where Jews originate as our sovereign foreign policy is our own business.
60. #29 - In addition, DNA tests have shown...
William ,   Israel   (08.04.11)
European and Russian Jews to be tied very closely to the Middle East thus allowing them to exist in the category "indigenous" Chew on that a while.
