1. Oh Great
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (08.04.11)
Just what we need to do, release more of our enemies to stir up more actions against us. I really wonder if the Israeli government has a shortage of brains and not apartments.
2. No other nation appeases it's enemies so pathetically.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.04.11)
Whenever I hear news like this, I always think WHAT IS WRONG WITH ISRAEL'S LEADERS? For years, Hamas has held and tormented young Gilad Shalit. For years, Hamas has used Shalit to harrass and humiliate all of Israel. Yet Israel frees Hamas terrorists!!! It's beyond mind boggling. It doesn't seem to matter that Israel is a centre right country and that most of us stridently reject leftist appeasement, we get stuck with the same destructive, sick far left policies. No matter how we vote! No other nation appeases it's enemies so pathetically.
3. Not An Eye for an Eye
Noah Lev ,   HollywoodUSA   (08.04.11)
I dont know why he was arrested, and what he was incarcerated for? However, two things are apparent: Israel's punishment does not fit the crime typically AND releaed criminals are free to vent their fury and promote Jihad, as per his own statements. Israel must: institute a 25 to life if 3 strikes, have a nationaistic crime punishment levy, and of course implement capital punishment for heinous crimes. Whether he has or hasnt much influence...he will contribute to the Arab goal of making the old British Mandate free of Jews (Judenrein). If he agrees with most Pales...he wants another Holocaust. So let the fun begin. The least he can do is take up arms against Israel, supplied by Hamas, Hezbollah, Fatah, Islamic Jihad or whomever. Israel is the laughing stock of the planet..and we all know why!
4. boggle my mind
oren   (08.04.11)
Why would you free this guy who obviously should stay there ..he has no intentions of making peace with israel ..he flatly and bluntly says upon his release to Unite against israel and destroy israel until theres no more israel ...???? what is wrong with that picture.... yeh hes rehabilitated alright
5. ISRAELI ''LEADERS'' = STUPID, DANGEROUS AND COWARDS
(08.04.11)
6. Release more of "our" enemies?
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (08.04.11)
Then why are ou living in LA, in a country that appeases Muslims because they are too scared of violence if they offend them? On the other other it is a disgrace that this "right wing" government has released these prisoners while Gilad Shalit is still being held hostage by Hamas. The lunatics are running the asylum!
7. another stolen day for Gilad shalit, who hamas holds..

13. This is a democracy
James ,   Herzliya   (08.04.11)
Israel is a democracy... and those who served their time must be released acoording to the rule of law. Period. Whether you like it or not is another matter.
14. To all those despairing of our dhimmi leaders...
Adam ,   Golan Heights Israel   (08.04.11)
Don't give up hope...every cloud has a silver lining. Their betrayals will only speed up the assent of Lieberman to PM. On that day we will begin to recall how to hold our heads high.

17. Why don't we hear a protest from Gilad's parents
Chaim ,   Migron   (08.04.11)
about Bibi/Barak's idiocy?
18. There is no shortage of hatred of Israel in Gaza.
leo ,   usa   (08.04.11)
This guy will hardly add much to it even if he is still relevant. I'd prefer killing him instead of freeing, but then it would've created too much paperwork. Letting him go is cheaper and easier. He still might get what is coming to him except it will be by accident.
19. No more goodwill!
Ariel ,   Canada   (08.04.11)
WTF!!!! What about Gilad Shalit?!!? I know its the begininng of Ramadan and its a show of goodwill, but HOLY SHIT, who cares about goodwill anymore, our brother Gilad is trapped in Gaza! Until he comes home, we cannot release murderous terrorists, what, they stopped hating Israel?
20. Another social protestor added to the mob
Georges   (08.04.11)
Since Shalit ,we had 100's of occasions to get him back. ---- food, power, water, exchange, life saving babies procedures, and more. Unfortunately we have a bunch of xxxxxxxx ( you pick the adjective ) in our govt, interested only in world politics (a disaster) and hobnobbing with the powerful and the mighty, showing off incompetance at his best..
21. Another damn Yousef on the loose
Georges   (08.04.11)
Since Shalit, we had 100's of occasions to get him free ---- Food, power, Water, countless life saving procedures on babies, and more. Unfortunately we have a bunch of xxxxxxxx (you pick the adjectif) interested only in world politics, and hobnobbing with the mighty and poweful, showing off Israeli prowess and jetsetting around the world.
22. to nr. 18.
sjoerd ruurd ,   world(-wide)   (08.04.11)
unfortunately there is no shortage of hatred on both sides, with both parties in the middle east. one side is not better than the other or the other way around. it is up to both parties to try to get peace, eventually with the mediation of the un.
23. You gys don't get it
David ,   On this planet   (08.04.11)
IT is a slap in the face of Fatah and Abbas who want to go to the UN in September' IT IS A DANGEROUS GAME THAT ISRAEL IS PLAYING, by allowing Hamas to get stronger in Judaea ans Samaria,
24. Jamses Herzilya
(08.04.11)
Israel should not use democracy with the palestinians.Palestininas will use democracy when it is in their favour, otherwise democracy does not exist.
25. To: No. 22
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.04.11)
How do you propose to achieve peace with a terrorist organization whose charter calls for the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination of the Jewish people?
26. Massive Military Exercise. Beware Jew
Noah Lev ,   HollywoodUSA   (08.04.11)
I compare the Israeli-Arab 100 yr old conflict, to the rise, and demise, of Hitler's 3rd Reich. For those who dont know, the Holocaust was accomplished in stages. Hitler didnt intend to originally kill every Jew, but to ELIMINATE them from Germany. No Jewsh influence, or participation. At NAZI rallies, "Jews are our Misfortune" were heard and seen (on banners). Later, "Jew Perish" became common rhetoric. After Crystal Night ( 30,000 arrested to Dachau, 100 killed, 200 shuls burned), Hitler realized no one cared. Jews were locked into Europe and out of neutral contries worldwide. They had to be fed housed and clothed you know. Jewish scientists won the war ( Teller, Oppenheimer, Einstein, etc.) for the Allies. This is not a history lesson..its a warning. From this thug to Bargouti, HamasHez are laughing to the bank. Abbas says, the UN bid is promoting the peace process. Are you hearing Livni? Yes, and the wars were for peace..pieces of Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem, Ashdod, Netanya, Eilat. Read Michael Orens Six Days of War..if Al Fatah and Nasser had won. Allowing the thug to go free, assuming he will become a good Muslim is outrageous and delusional. Once an Islamist, always an Islamist. If one Jew is killed by him...what then? Why wasnt his release per a parole board, as in the States. While Pollard has surgery incarcerated still, and Shalits face is uncertain...(no Red Cross), Israel automatically releases wannabe killers. Until Israel wakes up..and gets RIGHT, nothing will change. Oh, I read that Hez had a massive military exercise. A portent of things to come?
27. #22 -you couldn't be more wrong
William ,   Israel   (08.04.11)
there if very little hatred of "Palestinians" in Israel. Unlike the "Palestinians" (and many Arabs) Israel produces no educational programs or television shows that belittle or dehumanize "palestinians" and Arabs as a whole, nor celebrate attacks on "Palestinians". Most Israelis accept "Palestinians" and a future State, along side Israel. Problem is, most "Palestinians" accept a future State IN PLACE OF Israel. There's the difference. UN mediation is both unjustified and unwelcomed. The UN has shown it cannot be an honest broker, and is hardly effective as past mediation efforts, though accepted by Israel, were rejected by Arabs who swore to destroy my home. You should read a great article about Israeli doctors who saved the life of a Gazan baby without hesitation. Yet, the same act of duty to humanity and basic compassion is hardly existent in Gaza or Ramallah.
28. to # 22, I am not going to comment on shallowness of your
leo ,   usa   (08.05.11)
opinion except one thing. Leave both parties to their own devices. If it weren't for misguided "do-gooders" like yourself peace would've been there already.
29. #22 Mr Ruud
rivka ,   los angeles   (08.05.11)
If you are in so much in favor of releasing terrorists - why don't you release Breivik. Don't you have any "compassion" for him? Maybe the UN should negotiate his immediate release, so that your left wing labor party can practice what they preach? Or is it only ok with Norway's government when "palestinian" terrorists murder Jewish children? Free Breivik first - then we can talk about terrorist's rights.........
