1. Condescending article.
AJ - Raalte   (08.06.11)
This kind of ignorant condescension won't do you any good, Ya'ir. Who do you think you are talking to? Most of us "people of yesterday" have been on the internet for years, know how it works, what its possibilities are as well as its limitations, and - surprise, surprise -already have a FB-page with "friends" and interests.
2. I guess Yair likes Facebook.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (08.06.11)
Sounds like a pretty bizarre political platform but, hey, he's entitled to his opinion, no matter how shallow & superficial it is. This reminds me of the old-time hippies of the 1960's & 1970's, New Age BS, flower power, & similar at the time ''trendy'' thinking, much of it drug-induced. I expect Lapid to show up any time now with long hair, beads, & bell-bottom jeans. You know what, Mr Lapid, it was stupid then & it's stupid now. And, anyway, you're too old for this juvenile crap. Try coming up with nice solid, practical, realistic ideas. Ask your guru, maybe he can help you.
3. Chutzpah!
Jayjay ,   Israel   (08.06.11)
LApid has some chutzpah with his articles supporting the protests. WIth his ridiculous 240,000 nis a month wage, its the extreme selfish over indulgent left, thats caused the price of living to be so high!
4. too old or not...
Dketerstov ,   Israel   (08.06.11)
it helps to think that among israeli politicians his best writings always bring everything into a question...but he is not a philosopher neither a politician
5. People of Yesterday.
ruth kermisch ,   new york usa   (08.07.11)
were it not for "people of yesterday" there would not be a state of Israel. Most people of yesterday use the internet, e mail and facebook on a daily basis. Your ignorance makes a true dialog and positive outcome very questionable. YOU are the one who needs to become aware of the facts.
6. This is why living costs are high -
Moshe ,   Usa   (08.07.11)
The cost of living with arubs is high for individual Jews & the state. The cost of a vigilant military is why your taxes & real estate rents & buying costs are high. And it's costly for a business in Israel unless it has a unique appeal to purchasers in foreign nations too. Global antisemitism will never abate, so the place for Jews is Israel . . . without the arubs. It's best to send arubs to the other 22 arub states to enjoy the the conflicts there, as peace & arubs are antithetical concepts. .
7. the needed change
Sylvia Schwarzkopf ,   Moshav Bnei Tsion, I   (08.07.11)
Is there something wrong in a country that 'uses' generations of people who go to the army, study at university, work, work, work and yet do not receive anything in return to allow them to breathe freely? My vote is yes: there is something VERY wrong. Is there something wrong with people who carry the brunt of this nation on their backs without complaint? Yes, VERY wrong. BUT: we have come to the end of that era; we want to straighten our backs and walk tall. WE WANT OUR GOVERNMENT TO ACKNOWLEDGE OUR UNENDING CONTRIBUTION AND ACKNOWLEDGE OUR NEEDS. Oh, and by the way, TO CHANGE THE GOVERNMENT'S PRIORITIES!!!
8. How Many Errors Can One Article Have
SAM ,   TEL AVIV   (08.07.11)
Phenomallly poorly written/edited article: ...if you want to speak and/or write in english, please get some one to teach you ...there seems to be absolutely no shame in this country in re coming across as illiterate... ...this lack of shame is also inherent in the money grubbing landlords and complacent government officials that rule tel aviv...
9. Rent Controls
Mark ,   Jerusalem   (08.07.11)
It’s a catch 22 situation. There are those who earn well over the minimum wage for example Mr Lapid and they have a high cost of living they but a big house they go to restaurants and have expensive taste and at the end of the month they complain they don’t have enough money. There are those like me who earn under the minimum and scrape to get by, take a lone and another don’t run a car and use public transport and at the end of the month in a minus. What’s the answer, higher the minimum wage and tax the higher paid more. Don’t give money to the Palestinian organization as they get enough from the rest of the world. Make a law to control rents and build more apartments. And those born with a silver spoon in their mouths like the organizer of last nights protest should not refuse their parents money that way others who don’t have and deserve it would get a better chance.
10. For #all of the forum - LIKE just not enough, HATE button is
Borislava ,   Sofia, Bulgaria   (08.07.11)
I want to pay attention to all in the forum, in their capacity as representatives different instruments of “esoteric thinking” that everybody has right of opinion. This is just an opinion and do not need to attack so acute. Online activities today are a serious potential but there are people who still live in the forgotten era of analog interaction. Very good social reaction of Israeli people but the whole world has problems. Today minuses in the accounts of any country are not pluses in another place. On Friday we all flashed in red. Want or not we live together on this planet and this clearly shows in Facebook for example. Time to change negative thinking to positive. Mr. Lapid is a good journalist. If his articles are below you level - just don’t read.
11. facebook

12. IBM Monolith
duncan ,   Canada   (08.08.11)
Facebook reminds me of the IBM system used in 1938. Except for the fact, we all volunteer the info.
