1. ONly 12% great can we all have a 12% Raise on our Salaries?
Levi ,   Karmiel   (08.07.11)
We can not afford anymore raises in cost of living.
2. Perhaps if the histadrut did not help
jason white ,   afula, israel   (08.07.11)
the over paid workers at the electric company to strike so often, then we would pay them a lower salary and pay a little less for electricity. The histadrut only works for the rich unions and ignores the minimum salary workers. They are friends with the owners and management, not the workers. How about leading the minimum wage earners on a strike? Demand that owners and management that steal from the workers do serious prison time! Demand that labor courts be replaced by criminal courts. Or is eini just grandstanding for his members?
3. all of a sudden, because of the egyptian pipeline...
eporue ,   europe   (08.07.11)
in the middle of the riots... its "insensitive"... no, its not... you are simply going to finance the benefits, your protestors are asking for... lol... this eini isnt the brightest bulb, hm ? sorry, but really... do you have any ? you have to cut the state budgets, not to pay more in anything... not fuel, not company taxation... but budgets down ! then think about, on WHICH ones you would like to see your government saving money... their employee salaries, or health matters, or street construction, or settlement buildings or...?
4. Cut the electricity to Gaza.
Devorah   (08.08.11)
Rather than bombing tunnels, for every rocket or missle fired from Gaza, six hours of no electricity and no water. And the Sinai? It's a time bomb. Israel needs to take it back pronto.
5. Another ''peace dividend'' .....
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (08.07.11)
We deserve this for giving back the Sinai. Being stupid always costs, one way or another. Want to place the blame - blame ''peace'' .....
6. Overdue - cancel free electricity for IEC workers
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (08.08.11)
This ludicrous, expensive, and blatantly stupid perk should be cancelled immediately. I am in favor of giving them a 10% discount on their monthly bill. That's all. I am not in favor of demanding that all IEC workers pay back the electricity they've wasted above and beyond the national average. They should, but I'm not calling for that.
7. The enemy within: $20+ billion Isr Elec Co debt
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (08.08.11)
The 12% increase won't come close to helping erase the huge debt the IEC has built up at our collective expense. Well, except for those 100k IEC employees for whom we pay their electricity bills. Yes, folks, did you forget that these same people who have drilled a hole in our national pocket suck up free electricity? Well, of course it's not free because we taxpayers pay for it. Something like $120 million/year. Gee - wouldn't that same money go a long way to help paying off the enormous debt the IEC cannot pay off? Aren't we tired of these people freeloading off of our backs? First step - drop their free electricity. If they strike to protest, fired the entire lot of them. Give them a 5% employee discount on their monthly bill. Let them cut back like the rest of us. And yea, maybe we SHOULD make them pay back everything they each used above and beyond the national average over the past 20 years.
8. i dont get how its a slap in the face
izzy d   (08.08.11)
we are using a more expensive electric method so electric bills go up. are you protesting the reality that more expensive measure call for more expensive bills?
9. Need to give free electricity to public healthcare workers
Israel   (08.08.11)
instead of the already well-paid electric company employees.
10. Stupid or strange?
Alexandre Chinovich   (08.08.11)
Those idiots couldn't find better time for raising prices. It looks like a provocation.
11. Electricity
Shayna Gazunt ,   LOndon Uk   (08.08.11)
Here in UK electricity has gone up by 18% and just continues to rise.
12. Livni cheered on mubarak opponents as they hit the pipelines
jason ,   jason haifa   (08.08.11)
But it is netanyahu's fault and the people of israel will put in power the worst leftist ever livni.
13. How is RETROACTIVE price hike legal?
Susan ,   Israel   (08.09.11)
This price increase is supposed to be RETROACTIVE from Jan 2011. How is that legal?
14. electricity price hike
susan ,   netanya   (10.23.11)
Gee, only a 10% hike in electricity this so makes us feel better....so disgusting how one small country can suck so much extra nis out of its citizens without too much back lash from the people...wake up people this is only the beginning...if we let them do it, then they will succeed.....use to love it here, not now...
