91. Yeah right
ruby ,   new delhi   (08.12.11)
Wow what a whammy! you brand Desmond Tutu as anti-Semite, then you say some Roger Cohen made some comments which claim as falsehood. Then YOU suggest Tutu hates Jews with an excellent line of reasoning of why(It doesn't matter whether Tutu approves of Cohen's comments). I vomit bile.
92. Awesome, now all anglicans are anti-semitic

94. #92 ruby -Tutu is the tip of the iceberg
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (08.12.11)
Not "All", jerely a vast number of them are: "The Episcopal Church’s Anti-Israel Media Campaign The Episcopal Church has approximately 2 million members and 7,200 churches in the U.S. and is part of the 77-million member Anglican Communion. Because of its presence in the U.S., the relative wealth of its members, and its connections to Anglicans throughout the world, the Episcopal Church is in a strategic position to influence attitudes toward Israel on both a national and global scale. Sadly, the Episcopal Church is not a trustworthy observer of the Arab-Israeli conflict. The church’s leaders and constitutive bodies routinely issue one-sided statements about the Arab-Israeli conflict, and its publications portray Israel as exclusively responsible for violence in the region. Moreover, the church has provided substantial support for anti-Israel activists in both the U.S. and the West Bank. Its so-called peace activism amounts to an ad hoc anti-Israel media campaign that serves to delegitimize Israel’s rightful place amongst the nations of the world."
95. Saving Black Jews in Africa? Please!
Nicolas ,   los angeles   (08.13.11)
How dare this article and Israel sat up there and holla about saving black jews in Africa? It took dam near 25 years just to get SOME black jews even to be allowed into Israel (under Bush Jr. no effort was made on Israel's part) at the same time that you have non jews from russia, sudan, and other migrants. As of last month, Israel was STILL saying that they not only have no desire to airlift black jews from Africa, which was ONLY done because NY Jews and people like me demanded it back in the 90's but really appears to be flooding Israel with every other migrant from every other background BUT black jews from africa.
96. ok we got it he doesnt have a life...

97. Tutu
Ivan Gur-Arie ,   Tucson USA   (08.13.11)
Many important and well known people are racist. Being Black does not warrant freedom from racism. I feel sorry for him, as he is a voice coming out of the sad past of Christian Jewish relations.
98. Our strength is in our ability to listen to Tutu and change.
Michael ,   California, USA   (08.13.11)
Israel pulled out of Gush Katif precisely because it was impossible to live with the local population. Israel had 10,000 settlers, Gazans were over 1.5 million people. In Yesha now 200,000 religious Jews are striving to control 3 million local Arabs. I don't condone Archbishop's anti-Semitism, but he is making some valid points. Let's listen to those valid points, and only to his valid points. The world will never acquiesce to what is happening in Yesha, so it's time to make some painful decisions and change Israeli policies. It's time to be strong.

100. Desmond Tutu

He shows that he is very shallow and low in his thinking. Not fit for the title given to him by the world.
101. Dino Domingo #88
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (08.13.11)
But we didn't support the apartheid regime. No the reason that Tutu hates us is that he was a member of the ANC which was a terrorist organization. He supports terrorism and genocide.
102. To #1 re nations biting the dust
John ,   Alaska   (08.13.11)
Joel 3 says: "For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and [for] my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land. ... Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: ... Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD. Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about. ... The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD [will be] the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. So shall ye know that I [am] the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more. ... Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence [against] the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land. But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation." How is it that you claim to believe in the Author of the Bible, but refuse to believe it's promises? It's not too late for you to return from your hatred of the Jews and to the blessing Ha'Shem has for you, if you would only bless the Jews instead of standing, with Egypt and Edom, against them.
103. To #48 and 49 maybe
John ,   Alaska   (08.13.11)
II Chronicles 33 shows that there can be hope for any of us, no matter how awful we have made ourselves. Perhaps Mr Tutu and Graczek and other who hate the Jews (and therefore Ha'Shem counts as hating _Him_), perhaps some of them will repent, will return from their evil path and to Ha'Shem. It happened for Manasseh.

Unless you were born in South Africa and lived through the apartheid era, I would keep my mouth shut. And I also don't understand why you are living in Israel if you despise Her People so much....surely you could find another country that would welcome you with open arms.....perhaps Israel will even pay for your ticket.
105. tutu
colin   (08.13.11)
another "KAFFIR" wants a bit of free advertising.
106. Spade a Spade....
Jonathan ,   London Uk   (08.13.11)
Tutu is a beacon of light in South Africa, and sometimes light shines on harsh truths. To use so called Anti-Semitism as an excuse to bomb the hell out of the Palestinian people and keep them pretty much enslaved while living on land that used to be theirs IS apartheid. No one condones the Holocaust, it was a terrible blight against HUMANITY, not only Jewish people. Truth and Justice are blind across race, tribe and nation. There are the right things to do and the wrong things to do, the issues creep in when people identify more strongly with their race/tribe (Exclusive) than simply identifying with being human (Inclusive). I know and am friends with Jews, Arabs, Blacks, Indians, Whites, Asians etc - and what has always struck me is the overwhelming similarities between us, not the perceived differences. We hate because we are scared, because it is easier to hate, kill or maim than it is to forego the ego, and extend the hand of friendship in humility. Its time for both Israel and Palestine to walk a mile in each others shoes, and realise that Human Rights are universal, not national.
107. #4 - Tutu knows what Apartheid is...and isn't?
William ,   Israel   (08.13.11)
Settlements are not built are privately-owned land. It is public land of which is currently disputed (per the United Nations own resolutions). Per land records of both Ottoman Turks and British, only 5% of ALL of Palestine was ever in private hands. Since the British didn't sell any land, and the PA nor Jordanians had rights to sell any of the land - how did it end up in private hands? Why are different roads used between settlers and "Palestinians"? well - in 1999, they weren't. Infact, in 1999, "palestinians" traveled freely in/out Israel. But then the drive-by shootings began and Israeli-Arabs were the major victims (unfortunately). How do you save lives? You separate the traffic - that's not apartheid, that's a legal obligation based on security! Finally, Apartheid is a systematic discrimination against an ethnic group INSIDE your own population, citizens. The "palestinians" are neither Israeli citizens nor their problem. Again, this is based on disputed land, between two parties which are unique, and of which Israeli actions are a result of Arab terrorism beginning in 1920. Funny - when you add context and facts to the "Apartheid" argument, suddenly it falls apart.
108. #37 - and what do you call 2000 Intifada?
William ,   Israel   (08.13.11)
When "palestinians" had the fastest growing economy in the world, when they traveled freely all over Israel and even overseas, when they worked closely together with Israelis and peace looked all but 100% certain....then they decided to launch a massive murderous campaign that killed whole families? No separation wall, no roadblocks, and 1967 lines were the basis for negotiations. Is their terrorism still Israel's fault? Perhaps one can see it by looking further, at their own words which state "we accept a 2-State solution today but work for One Arab State tomorrow" - and this from 70% of "Palestinians" polled. Nevermind the charter of Hamas which demands an end to Israel's existence, and ethnic cleansing of her Jewish citizens. If we're "vile and racist" for living on our land, and refusing to be wiped out in an Arab wet dream, then so be it.

when somebody denounces anti-Semitism, right? Which turns your kind of thinking and reacting as bs.
112. "man or monkey? we report you decide"
Stephen ,   San Francisco USA   (08.13.11)
There is no place on each of your published responses to vote against the opinion voiced, and WORSE -- THERE IS NO SYMBOL TO CLICK TO INDICATE BELIEF THE COMMENT IS RACIST OR IN SOME OTHER WAY DEEPLY OFFENSIVE AND INAPPROPRIATE, WHICH THIS YANNI'S (08.11.11) IS. You should remedy this, unless you are simply committed purely to advancing an ideological agenda that is full of lies and libels, which clearly you are free to do online.
113. 46. Tutu
Stephen ,   San Francisco, USA   (08.13.11)
"Would be much better place of some people would mind their own business, their own problems and their own countries." Bob, of Canada, did you know that if Israelis followed your advice they wouldn't exist, since their country depends almost totally on U.S. charity, to tune of billions yearly adding up, since 1948, to over $130 billion? So much for being pro-Israel and claiming to mind your own business. Wake up and smell globalization of economics for the past century!
114. Bishop Tutu
Goldstein Jorge ,   Geneva/Switzerland   (08.13.11)
Giulio Meotti writes, that "Christian" Bishops declared that the Nazis` final solution was a symbol of God`s rejection of the Jewish People. This is pure "intox" information. Never a Christian Cleric, neither Catholic nor Orthodox, said anything in the neighbourhood of this blasphemous stupidity! Only German Protestant Bishops had such disgusting ideas. Please do not call them "Christian". This would be bad Desinformation!
115. This article is PATHETIC
A Real Jew ,   Los Angeles, CA   (08.13.11)
Giulio Meotti is the real enemy of the Jews. Israel doesn't represent me and neither does this fool. You cloak your anemic arguments in suffering that isn't yours. It was my ancestors' suffering and you have no right to use it as a fig leaf for Israel's crimes against the Palestinians. This article makes me sick.
116. Desmond Tutu
Joel Steinberger ,   L.A., Ca, USA   (08.13.11)
The existence of such a high-profile, opinion forming antisemitic religious figures such as Tutu is one thing. But where are the counter-balancing voices in his and other Christian denominations to shout before the world just as loud rejections of his views? A partial answer may be that Jews fail to demand the in-good-conscious repudiation from major Christian leaders. See what a groundswell of outrage is voiced by the Muslim world when they perceive any little real or imagined criticism against Islam. We Jews have the right to be just as vocal, most especially in the face of such shocking, outrageous and egregious charges against Isael. and the Jews. Is it the old European thing that Jews keep a low profile under fire in fear of provoking a more violent reaction from the communities in which they lived? If so, this is something that must change in the Jewish psyche. Nothing garners more disrespect that silence in the face of insult. The world seems to better hear and respect those who don't plead for but demand that lies against them be exposed for what they are.
117. #115 a real(?) jew
solomon ,   bklyn   (08.13.11)
This 'fool' represents me pretty well. My ancestor's suffering is not being used as a fig leaf for perceived crimes against the "Palestinians". Given that Israel withdrew from Gaza and much of the WB, and terrorist attacks increased as a result of this, Israel has the right of self defense. The article states things as I and many others see it. Your post makes me sick.
118. #41 graczek
solomon ,   bklyn   (08.13.11)
Tutu is as principled as you are. Therein lies the problem. He deserves credit for what he did in S Africa, but not for being blinded by success and seeing apartheid where it isn't.
119. Tutu and his illnesses....
SAMTHESHAMUS ,   Fort Lauderdale, USA   (08.13.11)
Quite true....However Jews will ALWAYS be in the firing line-up as to the status of the OTHER. Sadly, it's not even an issue of black or brown Africa et al, but rather a basic view hedged in disappointment as to God's Gifts for the Jewish people rather than the big ME!!!!
120. Mans got Probable cause
Brenda ,   Manhattan N.Y   (08.13.11)
At least he is true to himself, my God look what Israel has done to this mans country, Jews walking around with baseball size diamonds on their fingers, a raped continent of its resources, a Israeli nuclear program compliments of this mans country, apartheid, that wasn't there until the white settlers came, Jews in South Africa. This man is more truthful than all the detractors of this article. A spade calling the spade, there is just no introspection on the part of some people, instead of condemning the man all you devils should get him to do a big ol exorcism and get your raggedy ass's saved
