1. insular education is poison
Golan ,   modiin   (08.16.11)
and the Haredim like university professors are so closed off and live in their own imaginary world that they deny different thoughts or (true and not sexual) lifestyles a decent (I said decent) and honorable expression. Because they are insular and live in a bubble.
2. pathetic journalism
eliyokim ,   Shiloh   (08.16.11)
typical ynet incitement against the Charedim, I find it sickening. HOw about articles on all the secular Jews comments about the religious? your left wing stance is grotesque and the only benefit is that the average Jew with a brain reads this article and wants to vomit on such garbage journalism, which is a main reason this country has moved so far to the right, so thanks for helping us out.
3. Time to show respect
Ivan ,   South Africa   (08.16.11)
The ultra-Orthodox should start to understand that Israel is for ALL Jews and those who accept the State of Israel. Therefore, they should show more respect for those who serve in the army and protect them.
4. Haredim on Egged
Lauren ,   Israel   (08.16.11)
Despicable ! Do we now need soldiers on Egged buses to protect other soldiers from the hardim ?
5. Egged
roxie ,   israel   (08.16.11)
The company should be ashamed about the way these soldiers were treated. It doesn't matter if they were on a bus that caters to the ultra orthodox ! These men lay down their lives for this country, while the ultra ortodox do not. Infact the secular citizens support many of them since they refuse to work to support themselves.! I will not take an egged bus ever again and will travel by shurut instead, I hope others will stand up as well!
6. Perhaps we should remove military and police presence
Nameless one ,   Jerusalem   (08.16.11)
from their neighborhood, then this people will start understand something. Idiots with "special buses" are out of my concern, but I got a feeling y-net should write origin of soldiers. Something is not right in whole situation.
7. used to ride that bus a lot ... not surprised
naftules ,   jerusalem   (08.16.11)
to hear that the "civilians" would behave so badly to non-blackhatted people. seen it SOO many times there, and if your a woman you better not even try to ride the 981 in the front of the bus or you may get spat on... i personally almost came to blows once with a guy trying to move a woman to the back of the bus.
8. I remember years ago when passengers
jason white ,   afula, israel   (08.16.11)
even the elderly would get up and offer us soldiers their seats. Too bad the driver was not named in the article. It is even worse that egged caters to the ultra orthodox. Soldiers are more important to Israel and the survival of the Jewish people. One soldiers is worth a thousand draft dodgers!
9. I AM LIVID!!
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (08.16.11)
How dare they treat our soldiers with such disrespect!! These guys put their lives on the line for these people!!
10. inexcusable culture of non-engagement and apathy
Tomas Lee ,   Sderot Israel   (08.16.11)
Having travelled many a time from Bnei Barak to Sderot and having had some "fun" experiences with fellow passengers on a couple of lines, I know exactly who I am inclined to believe. The fact is that non military passengers on buses should be giving up their places for soldiers out of a sign of respect, most young soldiers serve without choice and make no complaint or fuss, they protect our country and our lives and deserve our unequivocal respect. I would suggest that national patience with certain sectors of society in Israel specifically the Heradi is running thin, when a whole section of your nation refuses to engage in national State society and simply leaches off the benefit system then something must change.
11. Discusting behavior by the harideem
Haim ,   TA   (08.16.11)
" "Why are soldiers, who do not pay, allowed to ride the bus?" the passengers yelled as the officer tried to ignore the complaints" How about " why do harideem who do not serve in the army , do work for a living, do not pay taxes yet are allowed to live off our tax money" ?
12. Open secret
Carlos   (08.16.11)
It's an open secret that Egged runs special lines for the Haredim that cost less and stop at stops that don't appear in the Egged web site. My question: Why do people who don't work, don't pay taxes, live off other people's taxes and don't serve in the army rate preferential treatment?
13. It's a shame !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.16.11)
Instead of letting those soldiers , who protect us , sit down , they wanted them to stand . I understand that when it are elderly ones , they may sit , but , were all those passengers elderly ones ?
14. they were told there was no seats
hadad ,   U.K   (08.16.11)
so why did they take the booked seats? with all the respect for them as solders and I agree that solders should be treated with extra respect . but YNet please stop cousing rift amongst the nation. there is no connection with what happened and the Haredim. so stop this kind of disgusting headlines.
15. YNET : Have you read the Egged answer ?
Jeremie Berrebi ,   Bnei Brak, Israel   (08.16.11)
Egged are saying that really, seats were reserved. So the soldier wanted to take reserved seats ! Is it not against law ? Why are you calling this article "Discrimination" ?
16. I have a deep
Sagi   (08.16.11)
Loathing for these people and it gets even deeper every time I see them and every time I hear these outrageous stories. They are ruining this counrty by their sectorial behaviour and their violent coercion. I do not dislike them for what they are but rather for what they do. Building special "Haredi towns" will only deepen the already existing problem. Segregation instead of integration.
17. The IDF soldiers could have said..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.16.11)
as soon you will need our places ,we will give them to you [as these were reserved places] This said ,i do condone the offensive remarks of the Haredi. It was,in my eyes ,Hiloul Hashem.
18. 1 Golan,Stereotypes are poison.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.16.11)
Are you trying to make us believe, that this kind of behaviour is inexistent in the non-insular education?
19. Whether the seats were reserved or not...
Deebo_ ,   Holon   (08.16.11)
The "real Jews" comment is offensive. This Haredi non-acceptance of Hiloni Jews should never be accepted. The State of Israel isn't just for "special Jews", it's for all of us.
20. Haredim in London - their manners
marc   (08.16.11)
An English journalist wrote an op-ed about the Haredim living in a certain suburb in London. She complained that they were not polite to gentiles. The newspaper and the journalist got into a lot of trouble and had to apologise for being antisemitic. My question is this--> if Israelis despise the Haredim and make no secret about it, why is it forbidden for people in other countries to take offence at their behaviour.
21. Why was the bus not properly labeled?
Rebecca ,   Modiin   (08.16.11)
If this bus was special it should have had special labels on it, plastered all over it. This report does not say anything about special notices. At the least the driver should have told the soldiers that this was a private bus. Eged was wrong - again. As for what people say, they should all be ashamed of themselves, incl the driver and inspector who did not explain things properly.
22. 16 Sagi What is ruining this country
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.16.11)
is the mutual hate of the different communities.Let us all do steps, towards rebuilding , our wonderful and precious Homeland.
23. Armed Resistance
zichron   (08.16.11)
The haredim failed to protect their children and parents by refusing suicidal resistance against nazism contrary to the great victory at volvograd in 1942 and failing to flood palestine even only to bnai brak.
24. Charedim on Egg '
Norbus ,   Jerusalem   (08.16.11)
whilst few learned folk exist among Charedim, who are thus able to think for themselves, a trait lauded by Saadia Gaon, Rational school, many learn for the sake of learning and do not live what they learn, and too many just live by ritual of uniform, beards shtreimels and the rest of Chukat Ha'goy. Ballet Shoes, silk stockings and Shtreimels They need to get real and engage with the Nation, fight for the nation and work for the Nation or go live in Ahmedinijad Land. I am hopeful that Rav Cook, Z"L had the answer
25. misleading article
yoni ,   tel aviv   (08.16.11)
the bus was a tour bus that was going to holy sites around the north and the seats were reserved in advance. The soldiers didn't comply with the rules of egged they should be punished for defamation of the company and of the religious sector. anyone insulting a soldier should also be punished but thats aside the point
26. # 2
gybor ,   Antwerp   (08.16.11)
If there has to be vomiting it should be done on all those the parasite draftdodgers. KOL HAKAVOD LE ZAHAL Gybor
27. LIARS! The egged driver and inspector were NOT HAREDIM
Shame on Ynet   (08.16.11)
Shame on ynet for bad-mouthing haredim and causing all your Haims and other self-hating Jews to join in your bashing.
28. #20
Eli ,   Jerusalem   (08.16.11)
Tell me, Marc, if you got upset with your sister and called her a bitch is it then OK for the neighbors to call her one also. It is just as wrong to be anti semitic in Israel. Our Dear Israeli Brothers should learn manners and not act like neo nazis towards the religious. It is twice as wrong for gentiles to do so as they are not even in the family.
29. 'humiliation?
moron ,   galut   (08.16.11)
no reason to feel 'humiliated'--insulted maybe..anyway soldiers should have priority everywhere because they serve and 'real' jews have no problem with this because the army protects all jews
30. ORA , 22 . Not all ultra orthodox are "ORA"'
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.16.11)
You are maybe the unique , certainly on this site , who shows tolerance and much love to all Israelis . So before eliminating hatred , let them show a little bit of your fine behaviour .
