Rivkah Did you watch to Sruguim (Tv serie). It is the consequence of separation in school. So keep defending the idefensable
3. Forcing sex-segregation again
Israeli grandma   (08.16.11)
It is quite normal and natural for junior school kids to learn in mixed classes, and a not unreasonable compromise to divide them up at age 10 or 11, but to try to force segregated classes onto the children from kita alef sends a distorted message to impressionable children, and their parents are right to be disturbed and angry about this high handed action.
4. Silly People
Shmueli ,   Haifa   (08.16.11)
So grades 4-6 are already separated by gender for many years as the article states. Grades 1-3 are mixed. Both sides agree that the school must be split into to school. WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL? If they make 1 school be mixed fro grades 1-3 and the second school be separated for grade 4-6 then there is in effect 3 schools.....VERY SILLY! Starting the separation from grade 1 as opposed to grade 4 will not make any major impact on the children, but will save a lot of money as it will create 2 schools instead of 3.
5. Oh Israel...
Rick ,   Florida   (08.16.11)
You hate so much how Islamic countries treat their citizens and yet you're starting to copy exactly what they are doing, from segregation to giving the ultra-religious higher priorities than the "not-so-religious" and the seculars. Being what you hate, eh? Not good, not good.
6. Separate classrooms vs. separate schools
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (08.16.11)
There's an argument that boys and girls achieve more, at least at certain ages, if they're separate due to differences in learning styles, the distraction factor, and so on. One can debate that issue. But kids of all ages *need* to socialize, and that includes between the sexes. So while it might be the case that the classrooms are separated, boys and girls *need* to encounter each other in the halls, the playground, and the lunch room. After all, one day they'll be working and living together. How else will they learn to relate to each other?
7. #2 Incorrect
Stan ,   USA   (08.16.11)
In Srugim, all the characters would have grown up in mixed schools, that's part of how some of the characters know each other. Separating gender can be a very good thing academically, and many schools in America do it for those reasons and people don't complain.
8. @2+3 grow up if they didn't want them
gali ,   israel   (08.16.11)
seperated then they should have sent them to a non religeous school and for your info. kids concentrate better when seperated, and #2 if you think soragim is a true story then you need to get a life cos it ain't !
9. Let them segregate !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.16.11)

10. 9 Charles,enjoying divisions...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.16.11)
between Jews,is not great at all. Separating boys and girls at school is harmless, and this is not an enough good reason to send children in non-religious schools. You hate lies and falsehood. You fight it . That s great. I strife for unity among Jews, Dure, dure[very hard]
11. 9 Charles You sent your children ..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.17.11)
in a Jewish school, were religion was teached. You did the right thing, because you gave them the choice,to be religious or not. They are not ignorant about our rich heritage, thanks to you. That s one of the many reasons i think, you are great.

18. I thnk separate classes work well
chava ,   yerushalayim   (08.17.11)
When my granddaughter went to gan chova, it was mixed, just like the ganim she had been in until then. She was miserable, as the boys needed lots of a different sort of attention than the girls, and the ganenet had a terrible time giving the girls any attention at all. After a couple of months, my granddaughter was moved to a gan chova that was just girls. She blossomed, and has happily been in all-girls schools since.
19. At school,boys without girls...

21. Funny: Jews in the US LOOK for segregated schools
EZRA THE PROUD JEW ,   USA-ISRAEL   (08.18.11)
I just dont understand the problem in Israel. There should be public schools that have the right to mix and private schools who have the right to "all girls schools" or "all boys schools" like any other normal country. All of this brouhaha about nothing make these parents look like spoiled, selfish children. What a mess of meaningless nonsense. The Jews get along so much better In the US and are so much more organized. It's always been the main problem back home: too many squeaky wheels and not enough gratitude. What a shame (i can hear the defensive ketching about this post)
22. Ezra , but they intermarry at 50 %
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.18.11)
23. ORA , 20 . Not appropriate ?

24. 23 Charles ,thanks..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.18.11)
Good for Israel ,that you have a vigilant eye on what is written against Israel,in the foreign media. They were mentioning the attacks from Israel ,while omitting the terror attacks against Israel.
