1. "Quartet" = Three Stooges + One
Herbert Grimm ,   Milwaukee USA   (08.16.11)
Does anybody pay attention to what they say? Talk, talk, talk, empty talk, but never any action.
2. The Qurtet
Meir M. ,   Yerushalayim, Israel   (08.16.11)
The Quartet should worry about the slaughtering going on in Syria and let the Jewish people build their homes in the Land of their ancestors.
3. Go arrest Sudan's Omar el Bashir and shut up
Marcel ,   Florida   (08.16.11)
There is an 'old' arrest warrant from the ICC out for the leader of Sudan Bashir for his genocide in Darfur and you do nothing about it ,you cowards of the Quartet and International Community. It's too easy for you to go after the home builders whom you want in small ghetto's . The same goes for the Assassins of Ex-Lebanese PM Rafik Hariri. Why don't you get serious about some other than Israel for a change? How about showing some disappointment and great concern over these Arab Muslims for a change instead of always targeting Jews for non genocidal home building you cowardly hypocrites
4. Who cares what the EU, State Department think?
Lobo ,   USA   (08.16.11)
One is infested with radical Muslims, and the other one is a bunch of self-serving stooges. Build, Baby, Build, and then build some more!
5. Disingenuous...
Adam ,   Golan Heights Israel   (08.16.11)
The quartet knows very well that there is no antisemitic moratorium on Jewish building in Judea and Samaria in effect. There alarm and condemnation is nothing more than kowtowing to arab OIL and good old fashioned antisemitism. The UN's own statutes specifically grant Jews the right to build anywhere between the Jordan river and the Sea (regardless of the racist antisemitism inherent in that statute), and specifically state that no one shall be discriminated against on the basis of his race or religion. Read the blog in JPost by Yisrael Medad on the subject for a concise summary of the UN "law". All the relevant information is available on the UN's website in detail.
6. Bravo
Matias ,   Espoo, Finland   (08.16.11)
Israel has all the right to buikd inside the so called "promised" land. The palestinians inhabited the area much later in history than israeli people. israel shold Increase the settlemets because Israel can make the area prosper. Palestinians can never establish independent state.
7. Not AS disturbing as Chechnya, Dagestan, London,
EZRA THE PROUD JEW ,   USA-ISRAEL   (08.16.11)
Dufar, Somalia, Rowanda, economic crisis in US, the IVERWHELMING RISE OF ANTI-SEMITISM THROUGHOUT EUROPE, the murderous Syrian campaign, the rapes and murders in Lybia, the outcomes of the Arab "Spring", Irans nuclear ambitions, etc, etc! Get your heads out of your backsides "quartet" obsessionists! The "disputed" territories were won in wars NOT perpetrated by Israel and are Imperative to Israeli security, PERIOD! No more EU, UN, Obama anti-semitism or Russian power plays! Israel must stand for itself and if need be, stand alone. Enough nonsense.
8. Let them just bark!
Gábor Fränkl   (08.16.11)
9. Nation built on theft....
(08.16.11)
Is that what Hashem want you to do? Steal other people's land in the name of Judaism?
10. are they alarmed by incitment ...no
izzie irgun ,   zion   (08.16.11)
homes for jews is a big problem but incitement and paying terrorists with us funds is no problem for obama .. and i say obama because without his support these remarks from the un, china and russia would be nothing more than shrill jibberish ... its obama that gives it force ... i can hardly wait for the guy to go, any candidate would be better and would put an end to these kinds of attacks .
11. THE VERY SAME BAND OF SAGES
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (08.16.11)
That managed to screw up the situations in Syria, Libya, Egypt, leading to their revolutions and overthrows of established governments, not realizing that their replacements would be far worse Egypt, threw out Murbarak, replaced him with Muslim Brotherhood Syria, what is the count on how many thousands have been killed by Assad? Libya, Khadaffy is shelling his own cities and citizens EU has enough problems in Europe, best they attend to those first without creating more problems in the ME USA - Mexico is very disturbed the your conquered their land by force of arms, return California, Arizona, New Mexico to the original owners in Mexico Russia, get out of the countries that you're still surpressing
12. To Ashton...
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (08.16.11)
Israel is profoundly disappointed with the way Britain handled the responsibility bestowed upon her by the League of Nations post WW1 to implement her Mandate for Palestine. Petrol was it? Kurwe Brits!
13. To: No. 9
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.16.11)
Excuse me, but Judea and Samaria are non-sovereign land. That means, basically, that it does not belong to any country. Of course, however, since Israel acquired it in the course of fighting a defensive war against Jordan, it is Israel's to keep, settle and annex. If the ersatz "Palestinians" are foolish enough to go ahead with their grandiose plans for a second declaration of statehood, Israel WILL annex Judea and Samaria, and all its illegal Arab squatters -- Jordanian citizens all -- will be repatriated to Jordan. Tsatskeleh, it has nothing to do with Ha'Shem and nothing to do with Judaism and everything to do with international law and convention. Ever wonder why the land in question is called "Judea" and "Samaria?" Oh my gosh. A concept! Who knew?
14. To: Herbert at No. 1
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.16.11)
Don't forget there was a fourth stooge -- Shemp.
15. Call it both ways
Aharon   (08.16.11)
I don't hear the Quartet saying anything about the "palestinians" move in the UN in September or how their leaders actively encourages their people to boycott the people they're trying to make peace with. Also, the "settlements" aren't illegal as they aren't part of an occupation, but disputed territory.
16. #9
Alice ,   Montreal, QC, Canada   (08.16.11)
Hashem wants the Jewish People to build , build and build on the Land He gave them. I think you should get more familiar with Jewish history and facts. The Jewish People are nost stealing land from nobody. as a mater of fact it's the other way around . The land was stolen from the Jewish People and we thank Hashem He gave it back to us.
17. Quartet disturbed
ILetzter ,   TA   (08.16.11)
I am also disturbed. The problem was the last two years Bibi legitimized the freeze and now he is reneging on it. However if he is and earning the ire of the Quartet and our good frinds at the State Dep't , why is doing it for a few hundred apartments ? Seems stupid. He should be building at least 10,000 or more immediately and start resolving some of the social needs of Israeli public. Whoever needs cheap housing would get it here.
18. Something's wrong with this picture
RaymondofCanada ,   Canada   (08.16.11)
All I ever hear of when it comes to "negotiations for peace" is how Israel is always doing something to make the process harder. Give me a break.
19. This is absolute nonsense. Israel is doing what
Harry Wright ,   UK   (08.16.11)
any country would do - build on its own land. I want to see Ashton put in writing that the land does not belong to Israel and back it up with concrete proof. It is all about the present ownership of the territory - not about some document that designates that that x territory should belong to Arabs and y to Israel. This is about state ownership and the only state that presently exists is Israel. The only state that conquered all the land is Israel. The only real authority over that land at present is Israel. These people are out of place to be interfering. Whenever the Israelis and Arabs come to an AGREEMENT to divide up the land, then it can be said what belongs to who. Until then, everything boils down to could and should. Those criticizing should be prodding Abbas to get to the table quickly instead of creating artificial divisions and treating them as law.
20. Foreign Interference
Mary Snow ,   USA   (08.16.11)
Eugene W. Rostow assistant secretary of state for the United States in 1967 who wrote UN resolution 242 wrote in several articles in 1991 that resolution 242 never meant for Israel to go back to the 67 borders. He also wrote that settlements were legal in the West Bank based on the fact that the British mandate in 1922 could not be rescinded. There is nothing in his writings in any agreements that say Israel had to go back to 67, and nothing was ever mentioned about land swaps.
21. #9 - no, Hashem ordered us to reclaim our land
William ,   Israel   (08.16.11)
and we are, from places we were ethnically cleansed, first by the Romans, then again by the Arabs in 1948. Hashem's light is the reason Arabs keep failing in their genocidal attacks on us. Funny - all this wouldn't even be an issue if the Arabs chose to live in peace and coexistence in 1947, again in 1967, and again in 2000. Yet, their racist terrorism continues, and Hashem did give us the right to self-defense.
22. really they think we will just say them..
Ester   (08.16.11)
"yes just steal our land and declare independence for a country that never existed?" no babies ur wrong this time... BUILD ISRAEL BUILD AHAVA SHELI!!!!
23. To: No. 18
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.17.11)
What's wrong with the picture is that Israel has won all six wars -- all started by the Arabs -- and doesn't have to "negotiate" squat. How much "negotiations" did the Allies do with the Germans following World War II? Why should a different set of rules apply to Israel than that which applies to every other country in the world? Or perhaps you would care to offer up your take on why Israel should "negotiate" with terrorists bent on her destruction? Hmm? Do "enlighten" us.
24. Everyone should care
MARY E. COTTINGHAM ,   Saint Rose   (08.16.11)
I do.
25. Musical Quartet?
max ,   washington dc   (08.16.11)
The "Peace" Quartet should consider becoming a "Musical" Quartet since there is no possibility that Israel will stop building in Judea and Samaria (which is their Homeland and won back in a defensive war) nor withdraw from it's current defensible borders with the threat of annihilation from Iran and it's Terrorist stooges Hezbollah and Hamas. Within these parameters, the Palestinians can negotiate for some form of self rule in an unarmed entity that cannot become a threat to Israel.
26. Jordan for the pals
Beary White ,   Norway   (08.17.11)
Israel can build wherer she likes to. Israel has won every war put on them by the arab "peaceful" nations. The refugee problem was created by the arab "peaceful" neighbours, and then there should be no problem to move the palestinian refugees to Jordan, the country specially created to palestinians. (as Pakistan is..)
27. Sarah B #23, re:#18
Millie ,   CO, USA   (08.17.11)
Sarah, I agree with everything you said and, unless I misread, so would #18. I'm wondering if a phrase caught your eye and you misread what #18 actually said. Lots of good talk backs. I support Israel 100%
28. ITS DISTURBING WHEN!!!!!! :(
Robert ,   farmington,wv   (08.17.11)
It's disturbing when israeli children are a sleeping at home or playing in the streets and hear the noise or a incoming rocket from gaza or other pa areas and the international community says nothing at all about it. the international community needs to think before talking.may the lord forever bless the state of israel.
29. What about Ashton's settlements?
DavidM ,   USA   (08.17.11)
Catherine Ashton and her cohorts ought to look at their own settlements before they condemn Israel. France occupies Martinique, Corsica, and French Guyana and continues to construct settlements there. The UK occupies Gibralter, Northern Ireland, Bermuda and builds settlements there. Russia occupies Chechnya and erects settlements there. Until the settlements in all of these places are removed they should cease criticizing Israel.
30. Barghouti Needs a Rope @ 12.00
Noah Lev ,   HollywoodUSA   (08.17.11)
The quartet can kiss it where the sun doesnt "shine. Who gave them the power of G-d to make these decisions? Okay, lets be up front. Where were they in 48, 67 and 73 when Israel was attacked, in wars of extinction? Egypt, became a puppet of Russia, AFTER receiving 200 warplanes, tanks, artillery, etc. Syria follwed suit. Why did Russia give the Arabs those Sam Missiles, which they deployed (llegally) along the Canal. With the Arab Spring still anyolnes guess as to the real victors ( Muslim Brotherhood, the Egytpian army, Moammar rejuvenated, Assad hating the Zionists, Brits and US even more so, Turkey going Muslim radical..and lets not forget Iran's Shihabs, ready for the enriched core of uranium....targeting Israel and the US fleet and bases...with Europe almost bankrupty, London exploding thanks to its pluralism, Spain and Portugal sliding downward, German/France getting tired of financing everyone else..and of course our own Obamas rating at 39% ( he is a dismal failure in both economic and foreign policy). oh, nw he refers to the Muslim jihadists as terrorists or criminals. Speaking about begging the question. Is he on something? But its those Jews..the audacity of bui9lding apartments for couples, yeshivs, mickvas and strip malls in land taekn in severl wars for its demise. Goering, Himmler, Hitlerer, Heydrich Rosenberg, Jodl, Hess and Hoss Are all laughing in their graves, while Bargouti is demanding Arab riots, from his cell..with all the priviledges of a country club..To Israel: re: Barghouti, lock him up in solitary, or hang em high. I will pay for the rope, promise. BTW Britian still has an arms boycott against Israel.
