3. Hosni Mubarak, a great leader of Egypt.
Jake ,   USA   (08.17.11)
For an Arab leader, he's one of the best there ever was. Like any autocratic leader, he ran the country in an un-democratic manner. That shouldn't surprise or offend anyone. Nor should it take away from his legacy of leading Egypt competently, while undermining & disrupting the cancerous regime in Iran. As a pro-Israel Jew, I will forever be grateful for the peace & cooperation Mubarak nurtured during his years as leader of Egypt.
4. MUBARAK' LEGACY !!
mark ,   t.a. Israel   (08.17.11)
MUBARAK IS.A REAL PATRIOT AS HE SACRIFIED HIMSELF TO. AVOID A MORE BLOODY FIGHT WHICH COULD ERUPT BETWEEN MOSLEM BROTHERHOOD AND SECULAR EGYPT BY STAYING AT HOME SERVING AS A SCAPEGOAT !!

Thank you hosni, now if mr gaddafi could chime in, we certainly value what you have to say. Let's ask nasrallah for his pearls of wisdom. Hey, i bet if we ask real loud and listen real carefully, yasser arafat may want to weigh in with his thoughts
6. twice a dictatorship.
sjoerd ruurd.... ,   a more free world.   (08.18.11)
the pot calls the kettle black. both failed/fail(s) even their own people in their own countries. it is up to the syrian and egyptian people to decide what will happen to that rabble.
7. Bad advice: Assad can't quit, he is doomed without power
Joe ,   Canada   (08.18.11)
Assad is responsible for so much innocent blood spilled to keep him & his minority clan in power that there are few safe places he could enjoy his remaining years should he give up the protection he currently gets from his army, police & militias. Aside of the long term unstable Iran & Venezuela he has lost the chance to get refugee status in Spain in exchange for an end to his oppression of Syrians. He could only possibly hope to get safe heaven in the West if he were to betray the interests of his only ally: Iran. And that would make him a marked man. It is not pleasant these days to be in the shoes of Bashar Assad. But perhaps survival instincts will cause this ophtalmologist by trade to trade is short sighted glasses for longer sighted ones.

Mubarak refused to go without a fight and if the army hadn't refused to turn on the protestors he probably would have been killing people just like Assad is doing now ... they are all the same. Now here is Mubarak on his death bed and he is telling Assad not to use violence. Guess now he can't dictate to the Egyptians he wants to think he can dictate to Assad. RIP Mubarak .. your either going to die in your bed or the Egyptians are going to hang you.
