31. #13 - you mock that which you do not understand
William ,   Israel   (08.19.11)
Iron Dome does work well, though not 100% but don't count those rockets heading to unpopulated areas; Iron Dome doesn't. We choose to use both prayer and technology. Prayer to thank G-d for his help and protection against racist terrorists next door, and technology through the advance intelligence we were blessed with. All that equals Security for Israel! has worked great for 63 years.
32. #31 - how would Muslims view such an act?
William ,   Israel   (08.19.11)
Would Muslims saved from death or injury say "boy, we were lucky but it was not due to Allah" Hell no. You guys attribute everything under the sun to Allah. However, one thing I can't figure out, is why every crazed Muslim gets upset when their terror acts are thwarted, when you hear them speak about unemployment or disease and they say "Allah is in control. I have faith in Allah. I accept his will" So if you accept "Allah's will", isn't getting your asses kicked by the Jewish State part of that?
33. #27 - Israel isn't limited in military near border
William ,   Israel   (08.19.11)
Only Egypt is, and that stems from the several acts of aggression and war they wage illegally on Israel. Israel is allowed to deploy many forces near their border with Sinai BECAUSE the Egyptians are not allowed the resources to patrol there. Why should you bring up UNR242 when no Arab have accepted it? If you accept UNR242, then you accept that 1967 lines CANNOT be future borders and that Arabs moved into West Bank and Gaza between 1949-1967 are illegal under Geneva Convention and therefore must be repatriated to Jordan and Egypt, respectively. If Egypt sent children to patrol the border instead of adults, it's their fault. Could be why, instead of terrorists, your forces spend their ammunition on firing at unarmed Sudanese.
34. #28 - if you say so
William ,   Israel   (08.19.11)
but you usually don't find a delusional person who can admit they are delusional.
35. No. 28 Ali
NYC Girl   (08.19.11)
Just for your information, the majority of Israelis are not religious. In fact, even among the founders of the State of Israel, there were quite a few atheists.
36. Normal
Yossi ,   Sedrot   (08.19.11)
Gaza Grad do not explode. Ask the experts.
37. Everything is a miracle
Nissim ,   Boston, USA   (08.19.11)
You have to appreciate when things happen for your benefit. Everything is a miracle. Appreciate every blessing
38. There no atheists in the foxholes....Praise the lord and
Al   (08.19.11)
pass the ammo. G-d bless Israel.. To my sons..Daddy is worried sick.
39. #21 - that wasn't the intent of the Grad rocket
William ,   Israel   (08.19.11)
the intent of Hamas was to KILL. Instead, they destroyed a building. Big deal. We can re-build and do, but we honor life and appreciate lives when saved. Alternatively, in Gaza, they worship death but really get upset when buildings are destroyed. Ass-backwards, but their choice.

My grandfather, a devout atheist (and ardent Zionist by the way) was in the Battle of the Bulge...and being in a foxhole did nothing whatsoever to change his mind.

I should have added I hope your sons stay safe.
42. #13 a stopped clock is right twice a day
John ,   Alaska   (08.20.11)
"observer", like Balaam's donkey, is entitled to be right once. In this case, he is only half right. Iron Dome is effective when used, Baruch Ha'Shem But the Jews know that it is their relationship with Ha'Shem that keeps them safe from the Muslims, Arabs and any other of their enemies. As Psalm 20:7 says "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God."
43. #1---#10000..for e1
ralph ,   baltimore USA   (08.20.11)
just a few thoughts... #1- is it a miracle? yes. should we be happy and sing and dance because of it? i don't think so. i think us as Jews need to view this as a wake up call. A time to work on ourselves as individuals. To always be doing Teshuva and making goals and accomplishments for ourselves. Never a time where growth has a limit. 2nd of all your right G-D controls the world, and it is very hard to grasp the reasons or the understandings of it. I cant tell you honestly why it happened, but what i can tell you is we are not living in a time of light, a time of respect, a time of dignity, a time of freedom, or a time of purity. we are living in dark, evil, corrupt, manipulated, world. my Yidden, my brothers we are in Galut, exile. we don't live in a time of the Temple. we desire it and work towards it. third of all i would not hate argue with people, just because of their opinions. At the end of the day we were all created from the Same G-D and we are all humans. that said i do believe us as Jews need to focus more on agreeing within the family. Is it ODD or is it GOD? Yes your right again this sorta thing does happen. what did you expect? you want the red sea to split again? you need the plagues to wake up? what will it take? i think this is good enough for me!
44. Two responses to brilliant #15
John ,   Alaska   (08.20.11)
First, regarding quantum theory, Ha'Shem is the ultimate observer, collapsing probability waves into discreet events, an example of which is the survival of the Jews as a people and Hebrew as their language over millennia, and the return of them to their Promised Land, and to their capital of Jerusalem. I believe that only Ha'Shem saw that coming. (and He was good enough to share this "secret" with His nevi'im, baruch Ha'Shem!) Second, the preparation of the world as a whole, with laws which Ha'Shem has ordained and which are not simply violated is illustrated in Jonah. the same G-d that knew Jonah would be thrown into the sea prepared the Tan in the midst thereof, and the same G-d that granted Jonah the wonderfully shady gourd also prepared a worm in the midst of that. My opinion? These are indeed miracles. If one does not want them to be, then he can find another explanation; I would not judge him. But I will be looking for probability to collapse into discreet events that lead us to say "Baruch Ha'Shem for this miracle also!"
45. William #33, Ignorant as you are, read Ynet
observer ,   Egypt   (08.20.11)
The Peace Treaty was essentially made of two parts: The first part called for Israel to fully withdraw from the Sinai Peninsula, for both counties to limit the military deployment on either side of the border and for mutual free access to the waters of the Suez Canal and the Eilat Bay. The second part was based on UN resolutions 242 and 338 ….. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3687448,00.html
46. To #16 Michael in Ashdod
John ,   Alaska   (08.20.11)
Very well phrased - May Ha'Shem give you many more miracles, and may He keep you and your people safe from all your enemies.
47. Qura'an never refers to Bani Israel as Jews
observer ,   Egypt   (08.20.11)
Islam is never about race or ethnicity, so Qura'an never called Muslims Bani Ishmael. Strictly, Quraan never called Bani Israel (children of Israel) Jews. when asked them to enter the Holy land, Moses's people "Bani Israel" said to him: there were giant people in the land ( Sura 17:104) and in the next verse "they didn't enter the land", in another Sura; "Moses's people said to him; go with your God to fight, but here we stay". We made, as punishment, Bani Israel dispersed in the planet earth till the Last Day (Judgment Day) when we summon them to Our Judgment (Sura 17:104).

Why does an athiest post on a jewish site? I think perhaps you are an angry little islamic boy. Were you part of the riots in london?
49. #19 that is the question
John ,   Alaska   (08.20.11)
I'm not nearly wise enough to answer it, but I am told that this book addresses the broader subject well: _When Bad Things Happen to Good People_ by Harold Kushner Anchor, 1981.
50. Re #47 You have ever right ...
John ,   Alaska   (08.20.11)
to believe what you wish. The Jewish Scriptures and the Christian Scriptures both contradict what you quoted, meaning that the vast majority of readers of this site (Jews, Christians and Athiests) will not agree with your Quar'an; but none of us would deny your right to believe in it.
51. Important addendum to my response to 47
John ,   Alaska   (08.20.11)
Everyone else here has the right to believe what they do also. So Avi has the right to say, "no the grad was not a miracle; magical thinking is not intelligent thinking." And Wise Saba has the right to say "Eretz Yisrael is filled with miracles from Ha'Shem!" And I have the right to say "Hebrew Scripture prophesies the rise and characteristics of Islam, and both Hebrew and Christian Scriptures assure the failure of this religion of violence to defeat the Chosen People, who are the Jews." I will not post further responses to you on this article. My last word on the subject of this post is: baruch Ha'Shem because there are so few people on this site who espouse the death cult of Islam.
52. Miracles don't just happen
(08.24.11)
It doesn't happen sometimes; It is a miracle. Try praying and you\\ll understand.
