This is what happens when you are so greedy, back in the late 80’s you had a chance to sign peace agreements with all your neighbors (Lebanon-Palestine-Syria) and doing so could lead automatically to have peace with all Arab nations BUT instead you never played honest and thought we can get more, off course because you are the stronger here. As a result of the irresponsible actions and bad strategies most the Israeli governments had, here what you are getting now, you have no safe border, not from the North, South or Gaza. So you are living in a piece of land surrounded by people that will use any opportunity to attack you and it is your fault. Greedy is bad, learn you can’t have it all, live with it. Suck to be Israeli, suck to be you.

Israel is quiet pathetic acting after terror attacks;it is too soft,it launch some retaliation that for terrorist is nothing and here we go again... Hamas and all terror cell are free to kill people,plan,abduct soldiers while Israel keeps waching... You are right this never happened; it's not even mentioned in the article. Israel allowed Egypt to send more troops into the Sinai than was allowed by the peace treaty. (BTW: up to very recent times, very few countries recognized the Sinai as belonging to Egypt.)

"Let" the IDF operate in Sinai? You're lucky that we aren't at war with Egypt, yet, judging from the Arab street. Cross the border against Egypt's wishes? Do you really need Iran stationing troops in Sinai, or Nato diverting assets from Libya to aid Egypt in driving the IDF out? Get it straight. Israel is not the U.S. You just can't do what America does. Most of the world doesn't want you to exist.

We'vespent trillions, and lost and wounded tens of thousands in no win wars in the Muslim world. We are making mistakes..similar to Israel. Some problems dont have any. Geopolitics in theME is changing, as we write. Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt...are dysfunctional states..dependent on aid, oil, and civil servants. Occupying Sinai, its too late.Israel should fortify its side of the border..just as Koreas do. Ue mines, drones, patrols...etc. Make Gazas border a no mans land..irradiate it if need by. Destory Rafah...ASAP and the tunnels. Flood them from the seal. Let Egypt worry over the Sinai...Re two states...put on hold, for 1,000 years if necessary. What is the rush? The US was in Okinawa since 45 and Korea since 50. AfterKassam/Grad attacks, Israel should retaliate in kind, using 10 to 1.An eye for an eye, but make them bleed more. We are the only ones that have been honest. Arabs and lying are the same thing, you ALWAYS LIE. No we offered peace and were told that nothing less than genocide was acceptable. Yes we refuse to die on command - don't like it - TFB. Either Egypt starts fulfilling their obligations or we will do for them and Egypt isn't very strong. The Abrams tank is the easiest tank in the world to stop, which is why we refused it.

It is patently obvious Sharon's "disengagement" from Gaza was a catastrophe. Sharon betrayed every moral and ethical principle. Begin's giving up the Sinai at Camp David (presided over by anti-Semitic President Jimmy Carter) in exchange for a cold war with Egypt was a huge mistake. Sinai should never have been relinquished. It is a natural part of Israel; a buffer with Egypt. Israel will have to re-occupy the Sinai and Gaza.

This post may invite ridicule. However, it is clear where the events in Sinai are leading. Egypt will make no serious attempt to end terror in Sinai. Thus terror will reach the point where Israel will act and retake Gaza. This time forever. Prior to 1967, one would invite ridicule by claiming Israel was about to liberate East Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, Gaza and the Sinai too.

in this conflict there already has been more than enough hate-mongering and war-mongering. the author of the article should have given the solution of how peace can be achieved.

If the separation wall in the Occupied West Bank is such a good and successful endeavor then just build wall on the border with Egypt - sort of like the 21st century Berlin Wall. Israel limits the number of security personnel that Egypt can deploy to the Sinai and only recently allowd more military in to guard the gas pipeline which provides Israel below market priced gas as a result of the Israel/Mubarak sweetheart (corrupt pricing) deal. So to all the Israeli settlers and supporters who say 'build baby build' I say 'right on ! - spend you life building the Wall - only thing is even if you build it it can end up keeping you a prisoner inside.

Iam Egyptian, and i will try to be calm and objective with my comment. 1st For all the comments subjected "Take-back Sinai", Sianai always have and will be part of Egyptian territory with all its goods (Gas, Oil,....etc.) Similar to all of the Egptian land. it was occupied by israel by force for a while that doesn't make it not Egyptian and to proof that Egyptian proudly regained it in October War of 1973. 2nd for the current events between the two countries, i calmly won't take side but you judge killing innocent soldiers inside their land protecting it from any betrayal using international prohibited weapons, then talk about Terrorism.
