1. Protestors Are Not Smart/Solitary for Barghouti
Noah Lev ,   HollywoodUSA   (08.21.11)
And what if, what if, the patrons of Israel in the Diaspora, decide as Thomas Friedman (NYTiems) said, to call in their bonds over the imbaciles who protest? What if we deny Israel the over 2b year in charity and funding to NGOs? What if we take the easy out and throw our support to the vast majority of the worlds countries which want 2 states, at the 67 borders AND the right of return of anyone who can prove he (she) lived in, or whose parents/grandparents, lived once in Israel? What if we go the way of J St and Peace Now and blame Israel for the areas ills..and one step further, blame US casualties partly on Israel'- Arab relations? The protests are as much a danger to Israel's security (and survival) as the above. Get it. This is NOT the time to hang our your dirty line AND SOLVE long term problems. No country, not even the USA is perfect. Over 3trillion dollars in retirement plans, etc. have been lost in 2 weeks in August in the stock market..thanks to recession vears and European banks. (And uprisings). What about 30m unemployed? In my state (Cal(, there are 13% unemployed...and another 10% working at fast food places at minimum wages. Many work under the table. Life is not easy for anyone...at least Israel has a viable economy, a good growth, low inflation and employment...if not everyone is satisfied. Apts...devote some resources to buidling projects. Sometimes they work. Sometimes they create ghettos. Cottage cheese..its resolved. Oil.naturlal gas...buy from Mexico and Canada and through 3rd parties.Or mine those fields off of Cypruss and near Lebanon ( under Israeli sovereignty). Stop stalling, build the fence. Re: terrorism, use some of your thousands of rockets and artillery shells...and Apache Gunships...hit them and hurt them hard. Aim at their leadership. If Pales interfere..arrest them too, starting with Erekat. Barghouti, solitaryconfinement for the blabbermouth. Its better than hanging. an eye for an eye is more appropriate. To my fellow Jews in Israel: wi/ol security, you have no lie in Israel. or anywhere else. Do not begrudge your military. without which, you will all be history. Look around you..at Syrias brutaliity, theMuslim Brotherhoods creeping control, Hez/ Hamas/Islamic Jihad...Irans pending nukes...think about your future. The people in Auschwitz, Sobibor, Treblinka, Chelmo, Gross-Rosen, Dachau, Belsen, Buchanwald, the ghettos in Poland and Russia..had no future, just hope.Hope came too late. At least you have an army thanks to your insightful leaders who didnto protest over the prices of baby carriages and cottage cheese.
2. I have nothing but contempt and disgust towards these
Al   (08.21.11)
marchers. Isreal is burning while these jerk offs are worried about cottage cheese. These idiots would have been debating Mozart while the Warsaw Ghetto was burning. Disgusting...
3. Nuts! Complete nuts!
Salomon Mizrahi ,   Brazil   (08.21.11)
These stalinists do not realize that the next arab attack can occur in Tel Aviv, just on their heads? Spoiled children! They want the prime-minister and government be nannies!
4. Enough already!
Cynthia ,   USA   (08.21.11)
Go home and support your country.
5. What's his quell for compulsory education?
Miron ,   USA   (08.21.11)
Did he mean "compulsory army service"? I think protestor paid herders are using people who are just a tad off to understand and know nation troubles, and wee bit too arrogant to accept the idea that Israel government cares about the state. I don’t know at the moment who brainwashes these crowds with what propaganda, but it should be fairly easy to defeat with a few intelligent discussions. Majority of Israelis are educated people. And they can be talked to. It’s important that people who understand what is going on go out and do talk to people. If we did not terminate Goldstone, we sure can turn most of these people around and ensure they go home and know that this state is theirs. As for the core group they need to be dealt with harshly. It appears there are people willing to risk Israel for the sake of their personal ambitions. And this needs to be dealt with urgently.
6. nuts
Sybil Shapiro ,   haifa Israel   (08.21.11)
where are you while Israel is burning -so easy to be patriotic from far --these are genuine request s from those who fight the wars and deserve fairness
7. When there is a hole on the boat..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.21.11)
The first priority is to stopping the hole. OK?
8. Protestors don't undermine security, let them protest
D   (08.21.11)
It seems that most talk backs so far are from people who don't live in Israel. In that case I think you should try to be more understanding of the protestors. It's not just cottage cheese, it's the cost of life here. The PM already admitted that housing in Israel is three times more expensive than in the US, and Israelis just don't make as much money as US citizens. While it's true that the government has to focus on the 'hole in the boat', it should not forget the other issues. It's not just for internal affairs, but in preparation for the PR wars ahead. In case you haven't noticed, the Palestinians already announced that Israel started the whole thing to take attention from its economic problems. So the citizens who refuse to forget it are doing us a favor in negating that hypocrisy (I would not be surprised if the orders for the terror attack came from Syria, to take attention of its population and of the Arab world from its crimes). Not to say, life as usual is to be encouraged in face of a threat like that. It's necessary for preservation of sanity, and is a mark of courage too (of course, only to the extent that no one in endangered by their activities). The protests are of course not as important as security, but as long as the protests do not compromise that security, and as long as they are for a good cause, the protests should continue. That marks Israel's democratic nature, and it's something Israelis should be proud of, regardless of their agreement or disagreement with the protesters.
9. We are the army
Rottem ,   Petach Tikva,Israel   (08.22.11)
Who do you think is protesting? Us the majority of the Israeli Army. The Reserve soldiers who give 40 days a year for our country so it can waste our time with promises of a fence not built along the Egyptian border. What good is our great growth if 70% of the people in Israel didn't even get a penny out of it? If we have to pay with blood, we want it to be for the best our blood can buy for our kids. Right now the get bobkes.
